That would be dope, but the novel series ended so there's technically nothing left to promote? Plus the author's new work is already being adapted so KonoSuba could get left behind.

Although on the other hand, friggin Bleach of all things is getting an ending adaptation, and it seems like things the fandom normally wouldn't see get continuations are being picked back up, so maybe we can still have hope????

I thought that the original author of the LN said there wouldnt be one? But with the new movie, who knows what will happen. Lets just see and there will be one.

No, there's over two-thirds of the light novel series left unadapted, but that LN series has finished publishing.
The general rule is that the likelihood of a sequel adaptation drops if the series is not publishing, because one major function of the anime is promote the source material. However, if there are no new volumes of the source material to promote, then it may be seen as less viable to adapt in terms of potential profit (though that's not the only deciding factor, especially if DVD sales are crazy good, in which case that'd be one possible reason to keep adapting).

Anyways, like I said that's usually what people believe, but Bleach, which has been over and out of the community's eye for foreverrrrr is all of the sudden getting a sequel. Therefore, while we can't say for certain, I guess maybe it's possibly okay to have hope KonoSuba gets another season???

Makes sense, thanks for the info. Can only hope it gets a sequel too since it has been getting pretty good rating on MAL (not sure about the sales)

I hope so. Because it's gonna be somewhat a combination of isekai and harem genres. Kazuma has a harem at his mansion. Aqua, Darkness, and Megumin. We need Yunyun and Wiz to join the Sato Mansion in season three. More misunderstandings, more mayhem, and more craziness for Kazuma and them. And maybe, just maybe some romance into it with Megumin, Darkness, Wiz, and Yunyun. But I see Aqua, Megumin, Darkness, Yunyun, and Wiz as his sisters.

Just give us Season 3 , after that I think it's enough , because the story starts getting boring after vol 9

yeah they use anime to promote their product, but it would be kind of stupid not milking this cash cow since this one is really popular and well rated on every site, but lets hope that atleast they popout some movies sometimes, i would love to see this one get a proper animation ending cause its funny and the authors makes it even 100% more funnier

A 3rd season will happen. It is a question more of when rather than if it will occur.

Konosuba is one of the most popular anime currently. With popularity comes profitability which pretty much confirms a season 3. Konosuba already even has a visual novel.

Yeah, but VNs are way cheaper to produce than a full-blown anime.

it needs to happen, just imagine a 20 ish episode final season with the light novel ending, would be just perfect, and honestly Konosuba deserves it, only 20 episodes and a movie simply wasn't enough of this masterpiece

It's so popular and it's in things like Isekai quartet as the real stars- would be surprising if they just leave this golden IP out to die.

There should be, there's still a lot of the novel to be adapted so source material shouldn't be a problem.
Although the Author said he did suggest the production of the anime to promote the source material, I think it would be a waste now given that it's so popular throughout the globe and any studios that is mid range could gain a profit in my opinion. I'll be honest when I say Deen did a good job on the animation because it fits the comedic style perfectly and even the bad animation as people dub it seems good to me.
So yeah, overall people are left wanting and series's that has No Game No Life cliffhangers triggers me to the max.

This is a series that rests close to my heart, while there is plenty of anime i want to see continued. I think Kono suba is beyond a want , more of a need category. The show itself has a charm and writing style that is unique and to me seems like rain in a desert of cookie cutter anime as a whole for the last 10 or so years.
Satire anime should be treasured , especially when done as well as Kono suba.

Another sequel I say! If not for the pure prinicple let alone the popularity of the show!

As long as the series continues to be adapted then we are at peace. If not, then it will kinda break the hearts of all the fans waiting for the next season including me too.

in 2020 they sold over 300k copies of the light novel. if we take the cost of each light novel as 5$ or more, they should have made over a million dollars. and if we take the earning made by the movie which is about 2 million dollars. they should have about 3 million left to spare. but making an anime like konosuba would take about 5 million dollars. so maybe 5 more years of waiting for a new movie

been reading the LNs to give the series a chance (mostly because i found it boring), and there is a lot more content to adapt. probably a decent chance in the next couple of years. i don't really care if it gets adapted or not, but it most likely will considering its popularity.

Just finished the entire series (all seasons, both OVAs and this movie) over the course of a few days (I would have finished it in a day if I wasn't playing Weekend League).

I do want more anime from this IP but the LN has concluded, which as people have said has dropped the likelihood of a season 3 and further. However, I do hope for more and I think I might actually just read the LN for closure.

Obviously.

Obscure and commercially failed shows hardly get next seasons, but Konosuba is popular.

Popular shows with contractual issues hardly get next seasons, but this is not the case of Konosuba.

It is just a matter of time.

Well the movie got it's english release a few months back so it's not like it isn't out of the question and the show as a whole seems to be doing better than it ever has. The only thing is the light novel already ended and while there is still manga being serialized that basically crushes a lot of the chance we had of getting a second season. Anime is mostly used to promote the source material and if one is falling behind or ends it's all done. Then again, if Devil is a Part Timer and Bleach can pull off new season out of left field then this series still has some hope.

Well they said there wouldn't be a third season after the second season aired, but this movie came out regardless after 5 years or so, so a third season was probably depending on the succes of the movie.

Might take a while, some shows running on multiple seasons can have large breaks for whatever reason. The author of KonoSuba apparently wants to focus on his other stuff right now but if they don't bring in as much as KonoSuba did then he could always license a third season to top up his income, as he'll get a fee for the adaptation. Not to mention with the gap between seasons, another one next year or the year after could create a bounce in LN sales, when they start to drop a bit.

Plus for the time being we have Isekai Quartet. Once that's done with, we'll see what happens. The popularity of that show might also help to push another season over the line, because I do genuinely think that show's success is the primary reason why we got this move in the first place.

The main bleach manga ended, but Tite has been writing novels with side stories. There was also a live action movie in 2018. Burn the Witch (bleach spinoff) in 2020. Can't Fear your Own World got an english release in 2021. Plus the "Bleach Brave Souls" game regularly adds another 1 million downloads, they're at like 60 million downloads recently?? So, the bleach series is still doing plenty of stuff. lol

The author tweeted early this year, answering people asking about a third season, saying: "He has no idea when the third season will be produced. It's true that the novel has ended, but the 2 seasons and the movie have made great profits, so I don't think there's anything to prevent the anime's responsible from announcing another season".
Also I heard There's an important announcement for the series on July 18th.
Btw, the LN has 17 volumes, the first two seasons adapted 4 vols and the movie adapted the 5th.
