| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Hmm, so this is the movie version (TV doesn't air until next year). Not sure what I think about this yet but the story felt like it started pretty fast. We got one hell of a father that is really hungry with power. Plenty of characters introduced in this as well. Yuri is quite a generic character though imo. I like that Aram guy though, he has a lot of potential in talent. Pheona seems like a cute girl (lol, cooking). Story feels blend tbh for this movie version with typical fantasy action. . Animation quality wise, I think it's better much than the OVA series version. I think the movie covers the first four episodes of the TV anime next year? I wonder if there will be differences. |

| I'm hoping the TV Version gets to add a few new scenes It felt like everything since the beginning were rushed the massive introduction of so many characters was just overwhelming,I'm still giving it a chance though. |

| Wasn't great by any means but it wasn't entirely shit either. I felt some animation was really badly done and the moves effects were pretty poor in some places. Expected a little bit better considering it's a movie. I wonder if the anime is just going to be a rehash of the movies. 5-6/10. Had its moments and wasn't really boring. Guy turning evil was obvious from the get-go (His face expressions and attitude gave it away) |

| Story seems easy and straight forward, you can pretty much tell what's going to happen all the time. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it, no boring moments, just some cheesy ones. It's a fun no-brainer for me, no thinking, simply just watching. Kinda like Marvel movies. I'll happily check part 2 and 3 |

| whoa, extremely good animation. i kinda hate the ptsd infected mc, but that assasin creed white haired kid peaked my interest. the only downside is that tons of character at the start and we dont have any idea about them. Btw Yuri ja nai, Katsura da! |

| Not very original with superficial characters. I don't like the series that have a stunning beginning and don't take the time to develop the characters. The animation is generally satisfactory and the CGI is good. The story is very classic in the fantasy genre: a mischievous king who wants to dominate the world and warriors who must protect the people from darkness, blah blah. The incidents happen a little randomly: like the assault of the capital. 5/10 |

| Wow it was so great to see Phoena, Pirika and the gang again! I miss this game so much and hate that Sega closed down the global version! I really enjoyed this movie and it brought back so many memories of the characters I had grown to love in the game. It seems this movie is actually a prequel to the game, but I am loving the story. Can't wait for the second and third movies! 8/10 for the first movie! |

| Wow. Did not expect this to work this way. I am not sure whether this will be a prequel to the game or a different take on the story but this certainly took way darker turn real fast. I always wondered how they will add more personality to what is essentially voiceless MC in the game and why they cast quite talented VA who can do variety of voices for him. A PTSD and a curse actually does a damn fine job it seems. And despite being different it still managed to bring back memories from the game and seeing characters you can get in the game do stuff is awesome(still salty that SEGA/Gumi killed english version...). Action was nice too and the whole movie came off decent-looking. Damn was some of this really well looking. I kind of like it. Let's see where this takes us. 7/10 |

| i remember when i played this game when i was on Japan... really good game... my fav card was that Oni guy... forgot his name though... really like the character design, the visual and animation are good too... if only it's not CG when in action mode, that would be more awesome... that Wayne guy looks like the girl from Haganai from behind... lol can't wait for next part... |

| Pretty decent start. I look forward to the next one in January, especially after that preview. Also, someone please add the main characters to the page for this. I was looking for Aram's VA and noticed they don't even have Yuri on there. |
| Decent movie I guess, didn't really stand out though..Nice seeing some of my favorite characters from the game at least. Would've preferred them starting the story with how the game starts instead of a prequel first as well but let's see how this goes, was just the first movie after all. |

| Not bad for a cliche story. Well, let's hope a) they won't insist too long on the "darkness taking Yuri" thing, cause I like this protag so far; b) we get a better storyline, explaining reasons for the black king and other stuff, we need something deeper than what it's shown so far. |

| I expected this to be something average or mediocre, but I actually quite enjoyed it. Guess I'll keep the upcoming TV series in my PTW. Quality wise, I can't say that was too impressive though, especially not the "movie quality" you'd normally expect. Animation was so-so and the mixed in CGI here and there wasn't impressive either. But hey, it wasn't anything near unbearable though. 8/10. nano ED <3. |

| Watched the first part for now. It felt like i was watching a very long opening cinematic, to some crappy chinese mmo. Where 99% of the budget consits of the cinematic, that looks good, but the game itself is ugly af. Now that i see what it is made from, i can see that my intuition was right. It can't be worse than Boobs & Soul though, so let's see the rest. |
| This movie was pretty good, it was like watching 4 episodes at the same times. The animation is nice and even the CGI looks smooth. This first part was good and I like Yuri and Aram so far. It's too bad that Burckhardt was possessed, I would have liked seeing his character progression. Need to watch OVA now and hope that the anime story will not be a copy paste of the movies Katsura! |

| I really wish they included more and longer first person view actions. That was the best part. It feels like I'm watching somebody play Fire Emblem but he's already in the 2nd half portion. I like the fact that this isn't another boring talk shit like most shounen anime but there's tons of characters and I was like who are these people. It's fine for now but I won't care whatever bad things happen to them in the future. At least they didn't went tons of monologue about how sad they are when that guy turned into a demon. Show they are sad not tell. Most shows get this wrong. Problem is I don't know much about that character to care. I don't mind the MC getting PTSD as it makes sense. Just a teenager leading a large army with tons of expectations then he failed spectacularly. Idiots though, why bring the Sprite and book there? I would have liked it more if that guy didn't get corrupted and was saved by Aram making them a Teacher-student combi. Such a waste. Still so much better than Tales the Shit. Also can't they just cut off Yuri's arm when it's about to get worse? I know losing an arm is bad but magic exist maybe they can replace it with something else like Guts. |

| damn this is really good, can't help but compare it with Zestiria, but done right. the protagonist is actually looks and act like a capable leader, every other minor characters troops are likeable, good voice actors, good OST, animation and battle are top notch since the studio made Hellsing Ultimate. the concept of "Malevolence" here is much better than vague bullshits that Zestiria tried to pull. some people says it's confusing since the beginning is fighting the main villain, but if you had played any kind of JRPG you will definitely know what's going on. protagonist already finished collecting friends and raid the final boss mid-game, but failed, this is the current setting. shame that this is from mobile gacha game, I'd love to play the game if it's Tales or SRPG style and shame that I need to wait 1 month for new content in TV version |

| For the players primarily, I guess (though it's fairly easy to get into). The movie is overall well done. Starting a(n extremely) classic heirship story at a surprising point helps to seem less standard. Some good action direction. The chara-designs are too diverse (and often fall in this cute japanese anime sub-style), giving a sense of lack of visual cohesion. And those named characters are too numerous. A good deal of them has a "baby-face" (strange for young adults). The 3DCGI is usually well integrated except for a few battle scenes where the 3D chara-models become too noticeable. Expected music. Weird "super-power" for an heroic-fantasy setting due to game origin. Enjoyment: 4/5 Score: 6/10 Average in content but good technically (if you consider this has been made for TV). PS: not talking about such things as character development because it would be meaningless in such a case. At least, the promising hero and his mentor are correctly defined. |
| That was some good action, . . . I would love to play the game if it will have a PC version, that chain combo was pretty interesting. About the story, no, it's not confusing for me. It's just average. |
