Well, I will start off by saying that I am not a feeling type person and I am very skeptical about the whole romance thing, so I rarely pick any manga/manhwa that has something to do with romance as main genre... I do still pick highly rated series of that genre, to know what's considered 'best' of that genre... considering the ones I try are usually best of the best - sometimes I even mildly enjoy it, but it's rarely more than that.
But this one is on a whole other level. You can see it as a romance manhwa, but episodes are called 'lessons' for a reason.. at least first half of them or so. This manhwa pairs up education and romance perfectly, making it a good way to get some introduction into human psychology.
It's nothing special if you got introduced to psychology courses in a decent university already, but for someone young and inexperienced it can be life changing...
The manhwa does not go in depth and introduces some psychological tricks in a very easy to understand fashion. Despite the simplicity, most of the 'lessons' are actually legit - it's a lot more complicated than that, but it's a passable grade, especially if you consider the fact that the ones who need those lessons the most are teens in their 14-18s.
I can imagine that this manhwa would be lifechanging if I had read it back in my teen years.. Made me look back into how I lived my life with the whole 37 year old teacher thing as well.
I was also a pretty shy person back in my school years - tried to avoid communication with others and thought that just being by myself is good enough.. I only started to open up when I went to university and wanted to change, by the end of university, after going through some optional psychology courses there I changed nearly 180 - I was one of the easiest people to talk to and could easily hold up conversation. But the fact is - that's also the moment where those skills are starting to lose their purpose sadly. No matter what - you can't turn back time and what your missed opportunities once can never be experienced again.
At first - school years might seem annoying to you, especially if you are not social, but as you age, you will realise that no matter what kind of person you are - life starts becoming grey and empty without communication.
But well, enough with the boring story of my life - the point I wanted to bring up is the fact that humans are all depending on social aspect in their life. It might seem wrong to you if you are a shut in person, but that will change as you age... when it will change depends entirely on you, it might even be by the very old age.. but when you look back to how you lived - you will understand that the only things that were actually important were having fun with your time and having others to share your happy and sad moments with.(obviously that doesn't mean that it's fine to be an uneducated bum, you still have to think about career and how can you be important for society, but some people make too much effort on that front and turn the career and knowledge into your main goal - it's something one will most certainly regret if he ever has chance to reminisce about special moments in the life) Don't be afraid to change yourself unless you want to regret missing your best opportunities.
A manhwa that makes you think back on all that can't deserve less than 10/10 in my opinion. It's a great combination of colorful educational material and a touching enough story. There are certainly better romance stories I read, but none were aimed at improving you as the person and instead showed you a very touching story. This manhwa shows you a more realistic/educational story.. well, not exactly realistic, as some methods are heavily exaggerated in certain lessons.. it still shows you some possibility into how a real conversation might turn out.
Good and simple morals are covered in the story - try to be open about how you feel, but be considerate and respectful of the others.
All flaws I can think of can be mostly passed as nitpicking, so I won't even bother pointing them out for the series I wholeheartedly enjoyed. |
