| I was a little wary of this episode, because Hazuki and Sapphire were frequently my least favorite parts of Hibike. They weren't awful, they were just your typical KyoAni so cute its almost nauseating young school girls. I was much more interested in the yuri side of things with Kumiko and Kousaka, so since Hazuki was frequently tied into the parts involving the dude Shuichi she kind of by default became not my favorite. This episode continued in this tradition, as the bulk of it was Hazuki still pining after our vanilla male character during the time she was off screen in the last two episodes. Still I ended up really enjoying this special, for one thing it's premise was pretty sharp. It's about the ten characters who didn't make the cut for the final performance including Hazuki and Natsuki. It was a clever idea, it gave us a taste once again of how great the finale was as well as a healthy dose of cuteness and well done SoL. I particularly liked Natsuki's big scene with Hazuki, I hope we get more of them together next season. And Hazuki's big run at the end was positively triumphant. I thought it was pretty cool too how we barely saw any of the main cast. They were too busy with the main plot. It made the brief scene with Kumiko (who being a sucker for a good protag is my favorite) all the greater and more enjoyable. All in all pretty successful OVA, might have been less taken with it if I'd watched it right after watching the series. But far enough removed, and with eagerness for Season 2 renewed with it's new release date I found it really effective. |

| It was good bonus, great piece of animation and slice of life but nothing too special. Probably best to say it filled the holes that didn't needed to be filled as original anime felt more or less complete. But at least we got some developement for Katou. 6/10 |
| When Natsuki hugged Hazuki, I flinched lmao. It was so sudden. And yay for this ship too. Hazuki looks way cuter with her bangs in front. And she's really cool for carrying that huge tuba without complaining, even guys complain about it. She's looking forward only now. Only 24 mins and she's gotten so much more livelier. Okay I definitely like Hazuki a lot more after this OVA. I was a full-time Kumiko x Shuuichi shipper, but I don't mind Hazuki x Shuuichi either now. In-fact, I might ship it equally now. Wow. Proof that characterization can make a huge difference even if the character is plain-looking. If they got a personality and development, they start looking cuter. One of the best OVAs ever imo. |

| I have missed Katou, she is so sweet. I loved how this special focused on the group who failed the selection, I'm currently watching the second season and we do not often see them. Very good OVA :D. |
| While a good special, it wasn't really too much of an impact to the main series. But well that was to be expected. Either way a fun and quite lovely special! |

| Nice special centered in Hazuki arround the band days before the great final!!!! This ova was the ep. 14, because is creates the Monoka band, and i think that in the second season will be important!!! 7/10. |

| Re-watching this after a while and I kinda forgot the personality Katou had... she is so mature to be... 15/16?. Man, I just love this kind of character who acts differently from the typical teenage girl at this kind of topics (love triangle) and yes, she's such a sweetheart too! |

| That was just pathetic and what's more pathetic is that Katou did the "I will root for you" at the end. If you confessed to someone and they rejected you move on, and Tsukamoto wasn't worth it anyways. She just met the guy and she acted like they broke up after years of being together, just pathetic! They should've focused on Monaka team instead of this cheap teenage drama. I never felt pity for her, in fact I regret watching this shit. 5/10. |

| Great episode, some of the loose ties from the finale episode has been tied too and we get more screen time for the awesome Natsuke-senpai and sweet Hazuki in the process so I couldn’t have asked for better! Hazuki’s maturity, especially here, is seriously commendable and her awareness is top-notch. I think the image below is a clear indication of that, throwing aside your little tantrum for the team and most importantly for Shoichi’s happiness, what a selfless girl!  Touching hug there between Natsuke-senpai and Hazuki, they really are awesome in their own ways! Hazuki then running off to save the Club was really well handled, loved the little addition of the kids with their instruments there and yet again the animation is exemplary! Seeing her smile over the fistbump at the other hand was .. a little painful but it’s good to see that she’s actively rooting for the two now. Midori’s interactions with Hazuki are really fun to keep up with too and it’s great to have a handful of that this episode too! On another note, Hazuki with her bedhair is cho-very cute too!  Anyway, I was wondering how Shoichi mustered up the courage to go up to Kumiko and console her and here it is! Also, it’s good to know the history behind the naming of ‘Monaka’ and the making of those good luck charms, a really nice way to compliment Season 1’s finale over all. Can’t wait to check out Season 2! Well-Deserved 8/10! |

| Episode far from useless, its main function is to give a different perspective of what happens during the end of the first anime season and to give space and prominence to characters who inevitably have not had any for reasons of time. In the narration, however, those that stand out, of course, most of all are the characters of Katou, Natsuki and Midori in minimal part, giving them that minimal but precious characterization that makes them even more fantastic than you could have imagined in the past. A precious episode that, thanks also to the screenplay, fits perfectly into the events shown in the last episode of the anime series and also reveals the choice of the latter in certain shots that before seemed to have no sense made, without distorting them but giving that I don't know that, and it makes a previously beautiful anime series even more beautiful. Excellent drawings and animations, fabulous backgrounds that show a lot of glimpses of the city. 8/10 |

| i'm so glad hazuki got a whole episode to herself. i never really noticed her in the main series but i love how they gave her this ep. the running scene in every hibike is funny and cute to me lol. after watching this i hope hazuki gets more screen time like this in the third season. the scenes between her and tsukamoto were so sweet but i feel so bad for her aw. |
| Damn this concert band club has a lot of members, heck even ones that weren't chosen could've started their own club (or team which they did lol). Good to see what happened to them while the others were practicing especially Hazuki since she's my favourite character in this series, struggling both in playing the tuba as beginner and in love but supports the people she cares for and always takes the negatives things like a real champ. | Top tier girls because they have built in karate CHOP action Nice to see more of hazukis story that was going on in the background during the preliminaries. And props to the monoka team for not giving up hope and striving to be better, and even decided to encourage their fellow members that did make the team. This is one of those anime that may or may not make you shed a few tears of joy |

| This episode is a great heartbreak. I always supported Tsukamoto to be with Kumiko, but always thought Hazuki was best girl. And living ships as football matches, I could say I celebrated both the scene in the river and before the audition before they happened. Now I regret doing that. I feel so bad right now for her. I swear, if she got rejected only for Kumiko to end up with Reina, I will have to burn something River Plate style. At least go back and make Hazuki and Tsukamoto be together. But that would be hard to do. PD: Proud to be fan of the ONLY team in Argentina where a japanese player named Katou (like Hazuki) played and scored goals. Forever Huracán papaaaa |

| I was thinking hazuki may be my favourite character in hibike! but there were still some doubts. Well, needless to say, all those doubts are gone now. Hazuki ( and natsuki-senpai too) are best girl. I feel like this ova gave a different perspective on things and tied up some loose ends. Overall 8/10. |

| She has a few miseries written but that doesn't take away the fact that Hazuki's such a sweet girl. Despite not making the cut and many awkward encounters every now and then, she still never fazed. Such a textbook example of "setbacks make you a better person". I really do hope she and the other members of Monaka make their way into the selected bunch in due time. |
