THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Tokimeki Tonight had potential to be better than it was, but I'd say it was mostly the cast that saved it for being bad. I found the character interactions to be funny so I enjoyed this show a lot, but I could see a lot of people not liking the characters.

I think that the biggest sin is that they never take the lost prince plotline anywhere. They introduce it in the first few episodes and forget about it until the final episode. And even then they don't treat it too seriously and Makabe still isn't completely discovered. The ending really leaves an impression that nothing happened in the show. Aside from Makabe becoming much closer with Ranze, none of the characters get any character development or growth.

I guess Tokimeki Tonight might be the best anime using the "girl is a vampire" formula, but there are better 80s romcoms to watch. I don't feel like I wasted my time with this show since I enjoyed it. I wish someone translated or localized the manga, because I assume it's completely different since they started around the same time, and the manga went on for a decade past the anime.

After 4 years, I finally finished this. Great show. Gonna miss Ranze's cuteness. Great shoujo all throughout but I wish it had a more conclusive ending.

Well this episode was disappointing. It would have been better to move some of these last few episodes back and adjust some to make that feud with Makabe and king to be the last episode. Otherwise nice series.

Great series. Even though one would likely have to read the Manga to find out the conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed this Anime.

So I'm guessing after ep. 26 the show caught up with the manga? It completely fell apart at the end of that arc.

Hmm, and so their lives go back to normal. Just finished binging all of this in one day, and honestly, it's a decent show I believe. I could never become accustomed to Ranze's mother's stubbornness, however. Most of the characters were likable luckily, which boosted my enjoyment a lot.

it was ok, I kinda lost interest after makabe and ranze got together but acted like nothing happened. Youko was still makind advances on makabe and aaron was a creep. The comedy was gold though, solid 7/10

That was a great non-ending. I don't hate open endings but I feel as if this was poorly done here.
I bet the "real" ending is in the manga since it's 30 volumes long whereas the anime only has 34 episodes. It makes me wish the anime started much later. I wanted more episodes but then most of the episodes would be pointless fillers which this show definitely didn’t need more of.
This was still a fantastic watch though.

I want to read the manga but I'm disappointed to see only 50 chapters translated as of 2020 which covers about 9 volumes I think. I hope the translation work is not abandoned again. This is the punishment of watching an obscure old series.

Part of me hopes for some sort of manga-accurate modern remake/reboot in the veins of Fruits Basket but Tokimeki Tonight is much older and more obscure so it disappoints me further that this will never actually happen.

Edit- 5 more chapters were translated as of recently in January 2022. But I haven't picked it up yet. Things look a bit more hopeful with Urusei Yatsura receiving a remake, I want more 80's series to be revived as well such as Kimagure Orange Road and Tokimeki Tonight.

I love it for the most part. The comedy is amazing and some episodes are very sweet. 8/10 for the anime.
