It was really odd of Hiei to let his temper get the better of him.

Kaito has become a more compelling opponent than any antagonist introduced in the Dark Tournament already, though his plan is definitely imperfect as there are plenty of things one can do without the use of violence.

these guys piss me off more than Toguro because at least Toguro looked menacing. but these three villains dont look like a threat at all, they look like a bunch of krusty scrubs.

Wow, I really like the direction this is going. This is quite interesting to see. It's the contrast that's so intriguing.

We just came from an arc of non-stop action where strength is key. Our protagonists have grown remarkably powerful, and it was getting difficult to imagine what could even challenge their strength anymore (Aside from that Demon World or whatever that was briefly mentioned). Even Toguro himself was a villain who epitomized brute strength. He claimed it was all that mattered and even sold his life in order to pursue it. His power was literally just getting stronger.

But now, we see brute strength is not everything. Here we have a bunch of random ass kids making fools out of the heroes due to their superior teamwork and tactics. It looks like Togashi has decided to deconstruct the previous arc, which is great to see. It's not incredibly innovative or anything, but it's nice to see this series is aiming for something with more substance. I guess after writing that many fucking fights back to back, you're bound to get bored and try something new lol.

Hiei had that coming lol. It's also only natural that Kurama, the most strategic fighter on the squad, is stepping up to the plate in this game of minds.

My gawd this arc is probably gonna piss me off because they just beat some op people at the Dark Tournament and then they come home to get their asses handed down to them by other humans that could prob get killed by Yusuke's pinkie at full strength, or maybe 1% of Hiel's fire technique. I hope that demon guy or whoever he is that we saw at the island shows up soon.

Interesting how this situation needs more than just simple brute strength.

KYAAAAAAA. I bemoaned that last ep didn't bring back the Yorkshin feels (too much daylight), but this ep totally makes up for it!!!
The house with really flashy campy saturated red lighting, the surreal way the decors are chosen and arranged, the slanted walls and stairways and geometric shapes as if coming out of an expressionist film, or is it a David Lynch film?

And the seiyuu for Yuu also voiced in Maison Ikkoku and Urusei Yatsura and Ranma, all my beloved Rumiko's animes! Natsukashii!!

PLS DON'T TURN TO SHIT PLS DON'T TURN TO SHIT PLS DON'T TURN TO SHIT!!!

Looks like we have to move past these 3 minor guys for Sensui to appear. Sad. Like in HxH which takes for ever for Lucilfer to even say a word.

Why do you compare obviously minor villains with an arc-dominating major one?

Kuwabara shouting Kurama's demon name to find him in his school was hilarious. Can't not love how unapologetic Kuwabara is sometimes, always 100% true to himself. I like the dynamic change without Yusuke. Kuwabara, Hiei, Kurama and Botan have some great moments.

Story wise, this cheesy haunted scooby doo mansion is hilariously delightful, especially with this spelling bee looking battle that's coming up. It's cool that they're taking an approach other than raw power(although Kurama has always been fighting with his movement and smarts rather than raw strength) but I'm 95% if they wanted to have this fight in the dark tournament there would've either been an asspull where Yusuke burned his life energy to walk through the territory or he would of just distracted him with something and snuck out.

Still, goofy and cheesy indeed, this was a fun episode. Excited for more.

Found it interesting to see Hiei response to a non-violent enemy. I couldn't decide if he would respect his intelligence and try to figure his way out of it or find him weak and unimpressive since he isn't physically strong. Turns out he gets super annoyed and acts completely brashly. Oh Hiei, how I love you.

I am loving this arc change so far. I feel it has a lot of potential to explore each character in a deeper way. Definitely had a lot of fun in this episode with Botan, Kuwabara, Hiei and Kurama..err *ahem* Shuichi. Loved how much they needed to persuade Hiei to come with, and excited especially to see how Kuwabara is going to think/discuss his way out of these situations :P

Wow, I'm really intrigued by this situation since I dunno what exactly our protagonists are going to do to solve this matter.

Hiei was stupid, tho.

Well, seems like everyone's as surprised as I am about Yuusuke getting kidnapped. Lmfao Hiei falling out of a tree was hilarious. Okay, an alternate dimension with rules made by a singular individual. That's new.

I just noticed that the new op hints at Yoko Kurama (how did I miss something so obvious lol)
I would have just calmly pulled the key out of pocket, then I would have been the other guy who would have needed to use some violence.

It looks like they were challenged to a shadow game C:< I love when shows do this, gives me early Yu-Gi-Oh! vibes (funny since that was also published in Jump)

Okay so far so good, this next arc looks like it's gonna be about mind games rather than relying on mind games and the next opponents Team Urameshi faces is a group of teenagers that can control an alternative dimension. Man that mansion is trippy as hell with the walls, the doors and everything being illuminated in red was something to see. Love how Kuwabara just loudly announces his presence to Kurama even though his half demon self is meant to be a secret. XD

Yeah Hiei while prideful that he is, should've really thought better about the not saying: "Hot" word rule now he's a statue. This looks like it'll more Kurama's round as it were.

What do they have against the word "hot"? I'll say that this is interesting. Like the comment above, they're deconstructing the previous arc, which was all about brute strength. Now it's truly a game of wit and strategy.

I was shocked to see Heie lose. I had never seen him lose in a fight! This makes me curious how Kurama will get through this round.

She got him back. If you understand the characters well enough, you'd know she did!

Okay, I liked it, this could at least bring something different to what the story has been so far.
Hiei was hilarious this episode, a shame they got his soul xD Kuwabara was a bit annoying but that scream he let out lol
