It's been forever since I've seen Astro Boy, it'll be hard to pick up comparisons but I really wnjoyed the first chapter. I love robot human relations. I thought the idea of robot marriage was very 'Tezukaesqe' and I do agree, what's up with drinking tea?!

This looks interesting. I don't like robot-human relations, but this looks promising...

Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

>I'm a robot
>Possessed by a demon

Not sure yet on exactly the direction of this series but I love the premise so far. Artwork is decent too and the story is thought provoking.

Brilliant. But that is to be expected of Naoki Urasawa.

Last line was intense!

THE HYPE. THE HYPE IS VERY REAL.

So many shocking things in the first chapters itself. It is gonna be tough to go through every next chapter without gushing about it. I never expected that the hero himself was a robot. And when he broke the news to the robot, whoa. There was just so much emotional impact even when the robot appeared to show none.

I haven't read Astro boy, only barely familiar with it, so it was surprising when the author of Monster decide to write an adaptation of it. I have the deepest utmost respect for him. I wish to be able to pull that off like him someday.

Also, looks like he is fond of German too. Nice first chapter, immediately putting us on the stuff.

Without change,we end up becoming the very person we hate.

Great opening chapter. I wonder how much this is similar to Astro Boy. I haven't read it, but I'm familiar with Tezuka's "Phoenix", and the maid robot here looks like a tribute to one of Tezuka's recurring robot characters, Robita.

robots marriage and the robot law to not kill humans, interesting so far

the murdered human and robot might have horns to say they are devils eh

while our detective robot says the killer might be possessed by the devil

Compelling introduction to the mystery and atmosphere of Pluto. The first few colorized pages are fiery. I can almost feel heat emitting from the smoky forest and flaming backgrounds.
After the murder scene of Montblanc, everything feels lifeless and empty. I would assume that this is purposeful. The chapter is mostly from the point of view of Gesicht, who is an android after all. Having recently watched Monster, I am inclined to assume every aesthetic choice, every panel, every facial expression, and every word is intentional.
The scene near the end of the chapter where Gesicht informs the robot wife of her husband's death is poignant... what little expression she has - the faint bubbles that briefly emerge - is extremely evocative of her ability to grieve. Obviously she is an older or simpler model, apparent by her clunky design, yet, there is a blear sadness and love within her circuitry in the way she chooses to keep the memories of her husband rather than accept Gesicht's offer to wipe them.

I'm one chapter in and already Pluto is extremely provocative. It would not surprise me if someone made an hour long analysis of this chapter alone. There is so much nonverbal storytelling and the dialogue has already provided me food for thought. I'm guessing that by the end of the series, I will not only contemplate my own consciousness, but that of the world around me.

I've been planning to read this for a long time, but since the anime is going to be released in a few days I finally decided to start it. The first chapter is already amazing. I love "The Greatest Robot on Earth" chapter from Astro Boy so I'm sure that this will be great as well.
