This series became serious pretty fast. Kinda trying to let it settle but still digging it. Loving the character's interactions. Glad Hayato turned those bitches off. I am really pitying not only Hachiman but the other characters as well. They all seem to have some bruises which they just couldn't let out. This is one of the more realistic high school anime I have watched if I recall. I really dont like the sister of Yukinoshita she seems to be asserting a lot of pressure to her. Iroha sure is scary though and cute lol. Yuigahama stating a love confession? Darn it's interesting to see where this season is going. I hope it will all turn out well in the end.

You really have to give Wataru credit. He's put so much thought into the characterization. It's very subtle, too. It can be difficult to understand at certain points -- but that pretty much reflects how each individual has trouble communicating their feelings effectively. They're all broken people in their own way. The hope is that they find the help they need in each other.

I can tell deep down that Yui wants to stop beating around the bush and just confess already. That somewhere inside his heart, Hachiman wants to stop running away from developing meaningful relationships. But they're both too afraid of the inevitable change, so they remain stagnant. Suffering in their comfort zones. Would you take that risk if you knew it would jeopardize one of the few meaningful relationships you had? And that's not even taking into account Yukino's perspective.

This is probably the most complex rom-com anime since Kare Kano in terms of being a character study.

That was a really great episode yet kinda boring for me, I guess they will run for the candidates because they don't want Hikigaya sacrifice more of his social life for others, wow what are those girls angels?

This episode is painful to watch, i mean Yui will run also as president just to save the Service club since Yukinon will also run... and the reason yukinon run perhaps is due to her sisters pressure plus the fact she dont want again to see Hikki sacrifice himself just to solve the problem...

Ohh my, lets see what will happen.

This arc is grippingly intense, can't to the the conclusion of this clash.

But one thing for sure, Hachiman has great friends.

Damn! It seems we're going to another emotional roller coaster ride. Won't be surprised if it takes up half the season.

Anyways, It doesn't anything is working out. Even with pity or not. I respect Hayato for still doing what he wants and helping out Hachiman. This always happens during middle school or high school even.

People who used to bully you haven't changed their opinion all these years. Then they became surprised how different you are compared to back then.

What's even annoying and pisses me off is that some people still try to treat you the same as they last saw you. So I'm not surprised they got told by someone how they think they're on their side.

One thing this anime captures so well that most other media doesn't is the fact that it's an accumulation of lots of small negatives that happen in life that leave you hurt and broken, not one big event. This is portrayed so well through Hikki's character.

Don't mistake Hayato (the popular blonde guy) as one of Hachiman's friends. He was the villain of this episode. The only reason he begged Hachiman to join him on the date was not because he planned to stick it to those snobby girls but because the object of his affection (Haruno) asked him to and he will do anything she asks.

As for why Haruno instigated this plot, it's because she hates blonde boy for hurting her sister in much the same way the snobby girls are hurting Hachiman while they sit at the table and that's why blondy feels so shitty after telling the girls to fuck off. It's not because he cared to hurt the feelings of two awful people he doesnt even know, it's because he feels what Yukino must have felt when he treated her badly.

More than that I would rather say that being able to relate is what allows one to truly appreciate this show. This applies to almost all character driven stories, but even more so here since it deals with touchy subjects in a nuanced way.

Fuck, I'm 5 years late.
But I can't help feeling sad for Hachiman. Everyone treats him so badly.
When the Orimoto says the middle school girls would freak, it hit me so hard.
He hurts himself for the sake of solving problems he couldn't care less, and it's always taken as the bad guy.
He's not a demon, he is a good person, as Hiratsuka said, he just didn't fit right in, was made fun of countless times, resulting in a low self-esteem character conformed with being invisible. It's not his fault.
I just wanna hug him.

Golly, what an episode. How did I not re-watch this anime sooner? Oh well, better late than never, right?

So the episode starts with an invitation from Hayato to Hachiman to hang out with Orimoto and her friend whom they met the day before. Hachiman of course was like, "Eff that!" But Yukino's fine ass sister ends up calling him and like the Wu-Tang Clan, she's nuthing ta f wit.

Hachiman ends up going. During that time there were some amusing interactions. Of course the most amusing involved Iroha. Aaaaand it's in this episode where she shows her true colours. Hayato says it's rare for her to show that side of her since she acts cute to protect her image, this means that she didn't care if Hachiman knows. But why?

If this was pro-wrestling, Iroha would be one of the few who could verbally hang with Hachiman on the mic! Sheesh, scary waifu! The only one scarier than her is Yukino's fine ass sister. Also, lol at the translation in the video.

Orimoto has always been all hehehe und hahaha when making Hachiman the butt of her jokes. Hayato lets her and her friend have it. Maybe he and Hachiman aren't all that different after all. I feel like in a way, he did something Hachiman would do 'cause it ended up with feelings of regret despite doing everything that he thought he could do.

Oh, Yukino is running for student council president! Oh, Yui decided she's running for the position too!

The Yui and Hachiman conversation is dead ass my favourite moment in the entire series so far. I just remembered back in season 1 in one of the episodes the camera cut to bicycles when they talked. And when Hachiman and his sister were talking about Yui in another episode, he was walking with his bike.

And here when he's walking Yui home, he's walking with his bike! :-O Maybe I'm looking too deep in the whole thing. Anyway, I feel like she knows that if she wins, that'll be the end of their relationship. She's crying because it'll just be Hachiman and Yukino in the club. "The one I love..." and that bye-bye didn't feel casual whatsoever.

Good job with that piano piece too, btw. From the day Hachiman crashed his bicycle to now. The whole scene is just too good! 😭

Let me just post the scene. I don't need to say any more!

Haruno, youre the best chick and I hope you end up with Hachiman, but my goodness, you need to get a new hobby other than trolling a bunch of high school punks.

And my goodness, everyone in this episode was so dramatic. But an enjoyable episode :)

Blonde guy said he likes a girl with "Y" as initial.... well, thats pretty much every chick in this anime, so that doesnt help at all, and I havent seen any sign that he particularly likes any of the chicks in this anime.

Its a pretty solid declarations. Were you blind there, Hachiman?

Welp, the first half was dark. Fuck that Kaori bitchy. Looks nice in front of you, but when she angry, she never hesitate to back stab you hard like an evil with so much cruelty. Like Yukino's sister... Like Hayato... Damn those peoples, and that drama were so fucked up!

Yet, the resolution still far away to concluded. They were all fights separated way, because, yeah, they were all so wrong. So, its just the only one suitable way to resolved the whole wrong situations. Shit. I felt bad to Hachiman. His reaction was, so pure as a loneliness. No one understand him. Even that the two girls that always confront him. Poor Hachiman!

Okay. Idk, if the next one was the finalization. But, somehow, it would be a great since everything might be so tensed up. Lets see....

Yukinon refuses to back down from running for President because she abhors the idea of 8man throwing himself to the wolves for the x-th time

8man still doesn't understand how his actions affect the people close to him since he thinks he's still a loner. Kind of sad when you think about it. He's so content with his low perception of himself he can't see how his situation has changed for the better

Yui is going to try and impede both of their plans since 8man or Yukinon's plan would break up the club if either are successful.

Not sure if I said it here or somewhere else but the funny thing about all the drama going on is it would be non existent if everyone had honest talks with one another. No deception, no roundabout way of saying things. I guess that's what highschool drama is all about though : P

Damn, everything's going downhill for Hachiman. So Hayato decided to help Hikigaya by sacrificing his face to tell those 2 garbage girls off as a "Sorry" for using Hachiman, or at least that's what I got from it which is respectable.

Haruno has to be the scarriest person, I never know what she wants, but my belief still stands, she has to feel hatred for Yukino. Don't tell me Hayato likes Yukino, I thought he meant Yumiko at first since they were always together and how Yumiko always listened to Hayato every time he told her to stop the arguing, but I guess it was never official and I somehow doubt Hayato likes Haruno plus him liking Yukino will surely get more drama so that has to be it.

Yui is great, trying to patch everything up by herself, I kind of feel bad for her. The situation between Yukino and Hachiman is so confusing at this point. If only I could remember that superficial thing they both agreed on hating in the first season which was the reason they got together so well and why Yukino didn't mind him since Hachiman was the only one having the same opinion on that matter as her. I'm also confused at that monologue Hachiman had at the end, after leaving Hayato alone.

I liked it because it was intense, but in truth, it was painful. I felt my organs shrinking while watching
It was close to torture. God bless Hayato! I never thought I would say that 😂. At the same time, what Hayato did felt a bit forced, faked. I don't want to say he wasn't honest. I'm sure he was! But something did not come naturally in all that scene, including Haruno's appearance.

As for Hachiman, I start to think that he wishes to keep people at distance. This is why he easily puts himself in a position where he is rejected and alone. He doesn't wish to have genuine relationships and get hurt. He was hurt in the past. He learned to keep people and his own emotions away from him. He doesn't want to hope and feel again because he fears experiencing pain as well. While understandable, it's sad. It's like giving up on living.

Hayato asked Hachiman to come on his date, why? Haruno is just following them everywhere, why?? Are we supposed to understand goals and motivations right now, or does it all get cleared up later?

Anyhow, calling them to 'discuss the election' actually leads into a nice segway about the actual election, and that Yukino intends to run in it after all. She claims it isn't because she was influenced by her sister, and that it was her own decision. She's doing this to save Hachiman from taking the fall once again, and later we learn that Yui intends to run as well, to save them both, and the club as a whole. Because, she really LIKES the CLUB. Wow. Unfortunately, idk if Hachiman was able to pick up on that. Come on man, use your honed observation skills and pick up on her mannerisms when she said that.

Also, wasn't this Hachiman's "day-off", meaning, no school? No school for anyone, right? I mean they did pretty much spend the whole day out and about. So why is everyone in their uniforms??

what yui and yuki are doing isn't too different from hachi is trying to do, isn't it? they are taking all the burden on themselves, self-sacrificing and self-depreciating in a way. i guess the way yui made self-deprecaiting remarks about herself at the end there gave hachi a taste of his own medicine, he might finally understand how it feels to others when he does the same.

the drama since the past 2 episodes has been intense and i'm loving it.

and btw haruno adds so much more spice to every situation she's in lol. funny af.

btw didn't expect this to be this complex. i literally have to read through posts here to understand the episode, it's just like the time i watched aot. i thought this would be your typical romcom but man this is so much more, it's so much better. i wasn't expecting to use my brain at all to understand this anime like the little things in the episodes that viewers are just expected to understand without explaining explicitly so i'm having a hard time to understand everything that's going on. hard to read the posts without accidentally spoiling myself.

I don't understand Haruno. Her character just makes no sense. Why is she so invested in everything these high school students do? Do you have a life like jfc. So you ask Hayato to make 8man go on the double date... for what reason? Because you're a creepy loser who stalked them the entire time and just "predicted" that Hayato would text Yukino to show up. Or what, did you tell Hayato to lash out/call Yukino over. Just so you can achieve your goal of shit talking Yukino so that she would decide to "get her own hands dirty" for once and runs herself? The fuck is wrong with you? Do you have nothing else going on in your life besides trying to help (hurt???) your sister?

Fucking love this episode.

Hayama standing up for Hachiman's the highlight of this episode for me. For all his talk about superficiality, the latter was definitely putting up a charade during the entire date. Had it not been for Hayama's actions, he would have let the 2 obnoxious girls tormenting him even further.

It was also nice at the end to see Yui deciding to run for president at the end. Clearly the idealogical clash between Yukino and Hachiman has gnawed at her, and she's getting ever more uncomfortable. If she let either of them have their way, the club would not survive. This is great character development for Yui, and I hope she wins.

Can't wait for the next episode.
