Mystery/Detective themed episode this time around. Felt like it was kinda left unresolved though.

The suspected guy at the corner of the room did seem a bit shady, but even he looked surprised after the 3rd evidence was shown.

I wonder what exactly the third piece of evidence was suppose to be.

Was it a shot of the couple's youth?

If you can somehow interact with someone's memory reconstructed from their DNA(?) extracted from their body parts isn't that also destroy the validity of the evidence? Overall interesting idea.

Most likely, maybe that's the last thing she remembered before she was killed, and she's still loved her husband.

the concept of DNA capturing memories (which of course doesn't actually work) isn't new. assassins creed did that already.

since the last memory was from both of them they both thought about a birthday of hers when they were still happy? it doesn't make sense that it would show the memory itself and not her/him thinking about it.

maybe they went on a date and were happy and then he killed her in a surprise attack. (he doesn't seem sad...) then she wouldn't have seen the attack and there wouldn't be anything to save(?) in the hair.

i didn't really like the story...

So...the hair somehow records everything in 3D around it, but only as long as it's attached to her scalp? Even though when hair emerges from the skin the cells are already dead? And as already mentioned; somehow the detectives are changing history and it doesn't touch on how that works or the massive implications? I don't mind whimsy; it doesn't need to be hard sci-fi, but the concept here isn't very compelling.

It's probably really just another animation experiment. The character animation looked a little different...was it CG?

Ending on an emotional rather than plotting note was slightly interesting, I guess.

nope, everything was handdrawn. it's just the talent of the director Utsonomiya, who is rather famous for his high sense of realism when it comes to character expression and movements. if you're interested in his style, you should check out his legendary aquarion episode

That had a really good "feel" to it, but was I supposed to be able to draw some kind of conclusion from that?

The concept is very interesting, too bad that the animation and the art are weird.

The CGI wasn't too bad but was still a bit wonky at times. The overall episode was okay.

The animation was kinda weird, other than that, interesting idea for an actual anime series.

Assuming to reach this "more brilliant life" he had to do some kind of shit that eventually got him changed, then maybe dating some bitches outside, bored of his wife and wants to kill her. While she remained unchanged, loving him till the end - proof is detectives went through her DNA stuff yet couldn't find any dark memory evidence to expose his crime.
But in the end, that's the face of regret he was showing while looking at their past. The man in the picture was genuinely loving her, truly wished for her to have brilliant life by just one simple rose and a note card, yet far better than dozen of roses with voice of lies.
Once he finds his origin back, the life ahead of him will be filled with sadness.

Seemed like the concept couldn't be fit into such short length, it felt like this episode ended too soon.

The animation was interesting but not enough to carry an episode.

The fuck was that? The way he looked at that last bit of evidence was chuckle worthy though. Dude reminds me of Kira Yoshikage.

Interesting idea but it felt a little bit unexplained in the end. I mean, yes, I can think out some theories on my own but it was intentionally left so open-ended that viewers can only guess.

But I really wouldn't mind watching full series of detective stories like this.

Well, I found myself really getting into this one in the latter half. I know I've seen crime scene recreation stuff like this before, even within just anime (Towa no Quon comes to mind), but it's still interesting to see this short's approach to piecing together a mystery. There wasn't really an answer, but it was left implicit for us to decide I suppose. Satoru Utsunomiya is a key animator from stuff like Akira, Paranoia Agent, and the Magnetic Rose segment of Memories. Huh.

I like the concept a lot, the art was really nice too. unique yet not off-putting (not to me) drew me in more than anything. Sucks that we didn't get any answers in the end nor did it really end with you questioning much. Was just kind of left with nothing... which sucks but yeah. Still enjoyed it.

I wouldn't mind this having another go~ The concept definitely interested me.

Looks like the dude got bored of his wife because their marriage lost its spark and decided to kill her for the lolz. One look at the final evidence had the detectives up a dead end but the dude ended up having a "What have I done?" look at his face after realizing that they had some good moments after all.

He appeared to love his wife, but stopped loving her, she lived in boredom. When he tells him about the homicide that happens, apparently, his desire to kill disappears. And she gets excited, my guess is that she commits suicide in front of him. He takes responsibility for not having served her as she deserved. The last note is the memory that floated in her head, they loved too much, but the birthday phrase became something empty and she gave another meaning, so it caught fire. To have a brilliant life.

If you see that my post is exactly 1 month old (or more) from when it was posted... Don't waste your time, especially when you want to reply with something petty & insignificant. Assume that I've moved on (because I have).
