She is one of my favorite character, and SeshomaruKagura is my second favorite pairing for this series... So, I felt really really sad........ XC

Going into this as someone who has only watched the anime I have no idea whats going on. Everything has been changed. Now I have to read that beast of a manga to understand any of this? man that's lame. I really enjoyed the original anime and have all of my info from there, so nothing makes any sense. Hakudoshi doesn't betray Naruku in the original do when he revealed that here they acted like everyone knew it already. It's kind of annoying they didn't take any consideration into the fact that not all the fans have read the manga. Kagura dying off so fast was also kind of a disappointment, it happened so fast I hardly felt any emotions towards even though I've known her throughout my entire time with the anime.

!st of all, i like it, was nice touchy episode but >
Damn thats rushed, too rushed. I feel like i just skipped 10 episodes of original InuYasha.
If this continues in same manner all old enemies will die in next few episodes, right after that climax will come and rest of the anime will be simply "happily ever after" random episodic high-school romance/comedy with supernatural touch ? :O
Another thing is that this is definitely not direct sequel, lot of things are different. How did it developed to this point ?
I know its unlikely to happened but i had to say it to pinpoint how it is different from original InuYasha.

It would not help you, i just finished InuYasha and started this and it just doesn't fit. its like 20 of original InuYasha episodes which would have explained all of that are missing. Also this is sooo fast going .. 2 important characters died in 1st two episodes .... How the .... ? What's going on ? Save us and explain that in next episodes cmon

anyways. i think it's going alright. it hits the main points that the manga gets across... hasn't been too long since i read those chapters but that's pretty much all i remember from 'em xD

kinda sad now (manga spoilers here)
on a better note, we get to meet wonderful byakuya soon ^_^

and of course:

lol

That was retarded, you're not meant to discuss past this episode. Pointless, you like an anime but you help prevent people enjoying it.

Anyway how come it was too late to save her, that made me really sad, Sess's dad saved Aoiva w/e her name was after she already died in previous episodes. I really wish Kagome made it there to purify the miasma and Sess brought her back (but she still died, then came back) Kagura was my favourite villain in this, all she wanted was freedom, and got manipulated for so long, such a sad moment, I'd have been quite happy for Naraku vs Inuyasha/Miroku/Sango to be all equal and for Kagura to deal the final blow but I guess that wont be happening now >.<

Even though Kagura died, she died free and that counts as something. But more importantly, in her death we find an important message. Kagura is an incarnation of wind. As such she holds a natural affinity for freedom and unrestrained action.

Throughout the past 169 episodes, Kagura repeatedly states that she wants to be free from Naraku. But what happens when she finally gets that freedom?

"Is this the freedom I've truly desired?" Kagura weeps whilst among the field of flowers.

It is at this point that Kagura and we the viewers realize that there was more to this than just freedom. Kagura wanted someone that she could be with, someone she could share her freedom with, someone she could love and be loved by, someone...like Sesshomaru.

It was no accident that the "wind" carried the scent of Kagura's blood to Sesshomaru. And for the first time, Sesshomaru admits that he came specifically to meet her.

In the previous season, Sesshomaru would save Kagome and Inuyasha when they were in trouble. However, he would always cover up his appearance by saying he was just "passing by", and that he didn't come with the intention to save or help them. But here we see he deliberately went to visit Kagura.

And what's more, usually the Tensaiga pulses and asks Sesshomaru to use it's power, but this time Sesshomaru thought about using it without any such prompts from the sword.

I felt my heart sink when I heard Sesshomaru say "Are you leaving?" Awww, this episode killed me. How will I finish the remaining 24 episodes is beyond me.

Feels weird how the main characters are all accepting of Kagura and protective of her.

I still find it strange that Kagura loves Sesshomaru: they didn't drop any hints until the very end of the first series and then they just pull on this stuff on us

They all hate Naraku so that's one common thing that binds them. Plus Kagura has helped out Inuyasha and Sango quite a few times. For example, she didn't tell Naraku about Inuyasha's half-demon weakness when she found out. Also, she decided to save Kohaku's life at the last second even while knowing she basically threw away her life in doing so.

Perhaps you could say Kagome's forgiving nature has rubbed off on everyone. I mean, Kagome forgave Koga for eating entire villages full of humans way earlier in the series. Not that I'm comparing Koga to Kagura but hopefully you see my point.

Also, in terms of Kagura loving Sesshomaru, well it was hinted at since episode 45 in the first season. Perhaps Kagura was captivated by his strength or the fact that he was always what she wanted to be; a free independent spirit. She came to Sesshomaru atleast 3 times to help him either by finding Naraku or help with obtaining a new power i.e. sword like the Tokijin.

Finally, we have to remember that the Final Act is much faster paced then the original series so much more time has passed then the show seems to suggest. It can be hard to remember these things when watching the Final Act without going back to the older episodes.I do agree that Kagura's love for Sesshomaru could've been elaborated on more but the Final Act breezed through a lot of the manga chapters not leaving much room for development.

KAGURA NOOoooo.....She was one of my favorite characters! T_T That was so sad...I'm glad Sesshomaru was there though. I don't understand why the Tenseiga couldn't save her, but it was nice that he at least thought about it. Now she really is free like the wind. I'm gonna go cry now.

Update: I wonder what he's going to get to replace the Tokijin. I'm sure he won't just go back to using his awesome green claw whip things. Totosai is in the next episode, so I guess he will get a replacement sword.

Exactly!! I love this post. He actually admitted that he wanted to see her, and I love that. Especially since it came from Sesshomaru. And when he asked her if she was leaving it was so sad!! Sesshomaru isn't as cold as he wants people to think. T_T I need to take some time to absorb what's happened so far. I love this anime so much.

I'm coming straight from the original Inuyasha into this, and the pacing is dreadful. They crammed so many events into a single episode... I really wish they extended this episode-wise x2 or even x3. Some of you will be confused by some events... like me. Even though I'm coming straight from the prequel! It feels like everyone is suddenly turning against Naraku all at once and gaining powerups... I guess the progress is too fast and makes it awkward.

Ah, but the Kagura x Sesshomaru moment was beautiful. It was always hinted at, but in that last moment when Sesshomaru comes to the field and is very honest about coming to see her... and wanting to revive her... Sesshomaru was slightly OOC, but that's what makes it beautiful. Kagura last episode was also a bit OOC, since she was praising Sesshomaru (that should've made it obvious he was special). My feelings. >__<

Beautiful.

Yeah, I couldn't see a single scenario where she survived. Naraku had a total control on her and could kill her whenever she would become useless. And I guess that was the time...

It look like Midoriko need Kohaku shard, whatever may be the price for it. Well, it is her shard after all... Since the Shikon no Tama is her heart.

Kagura dying was sad, it was amazing to see how InuYasha and the main characters cared for her in these last 2 episodes. She was an annoying character but in the last few InuYasha episodes in the original and this, I've began liking her. These past 2 episodes have been so fast I hope the pace slows down a bit soon.

I feel sorry for Kagura :( I knew this was coming, but I still hoped that Sesshomaru might be able to save her... She was a nice character after she started being more than just a pawn of Naraku.

Btw, fuck Kikyo for just stealing the priestess' soul like that... what a douche. I know her intention is good, but then at least do it in a more respectful way instead of not even going there >.>

The episode felt a bit rushed with all the new powerups like the "strongest armor ever" (which just happened to be introduced now), and Koga's new claws (which just happened to be introduced now) and Kikyo's new powers from that soul.

This episode indicates that Kagura respects Sesshoumaru among the characters in InuYasha series. And it showed in the end that it was him she saw before she died. Too bad Sesshomaru couldn't save her. I was certain that he could!

She got him back. If you understand the characters well enough, you'd know she did!

How could they??!?! Kagura was too awesome to die! I seriously got a little misty eyed over it, especially when Sesshoumaru appeared and thought that not even he could save her. I think his moving his hand to the sword hilt indicated he would have saved her if he could, and I think she didn't miss the implications in that movement either, hence her dying with a smile. Still, Naraku better do more than die, he better suffer for this shit, RIP miss badass Kagura.

Episode 1 was too rushed. I've never read the manga but seems like a lot of material between the original anime and Final Act was skipped together, mangled, and all thrown into one episode. Seasons 1 and 2 in the anime covered about 10 volumes of the manga each, so with 20 volumes being crammed into Final Act I was really wishing they would have made 2 Final Act seasons after I watched the first episode.

But I think if you can just move beyond so much stuff being suddenly thrown together in the first episode, the pacing in this second episode was much better and the scenes were beautiful.

Kagura's death was sad and it was a nice moment for her and Sesshomaru and the audience, but I don't see why Inuyasha and the main party had to be there or care about her. She killed many including Koga's comrades. There shouldn't have been any pity for her from some of the main characters.

Overall I was very satisfied with this episode and it seems like Final Act is finally starting good now.

Not expect to see Kagura die that early. At least she could die free as a wind. She has a great development as a sympathetic villain. After rewatch and have read this chapters, it pretty much the same as previous episode. There should be an actual battle between the group, Koga and Moryomaru before Koga looking for the ancestral weapon. The group is also waiting for Koga to get the weapon outside in the manga. And Sesshy should have fought Moryomaru at the night when searching for Fuyouheki but at the same time encountering Inuyasha's group at new moon! After nearly destroyed from the fight against Inuyasha, Moryomaru escaped to a cave with Kagura then threatening her so she would kill Kohaku to bring the shards. These entire thing is missing in the first episode somehow. There are quite a ton that they managed to cut from the actual story.

Kagura's Wind.

Episode 1 adapted 11 chapters at once. Whereas this one adapted 15. So the rushed feeling is only natural. People who were complaining about Urusei Yatsura Remake's pacing probably never watched this...

Kagura was my favorite incarnation of Naraku. So it was sad to see her go. From what I've read, even Rumiko Takahashi was depressed when she wrote Kagura's death. Naraku is such an asshole.

Damn, her death was painful to watch.
Throughout most of her screen time, watching her think and plan about breaking free but ultimately failing to do so hit me hard when I saw the way she sat in that flower field, looking down and hopeless.
I am glad at least she got a chance to see and talk to Sesshomaru one last time.
