Nice little short, even if I am still puzzled as to what the researcher was actually looking for.

I actually liked the soundtrack quite much. Overall a nice experience. Weird, but in a good way.
I probably regret this post by now.

I Just Want To Say Please His ART Is Being Innovative And Innovative Music Is Needed To Discard Realism And To Put You In Something Charming I Will Add What Metal_Ganado Said To ME Cause His ART Is Different And Requires To Be Watched Differently
To Explaining More GOOD I Put That U Will Find More Of Him And His ARTWORKS In This Site

His Alternate Title IS Enkinhou no hako -- The Researcher's Search

Subtitled THE RESEARCHER’S SEARCH, Koji Yamamura’s short imagines an anthropologist roaming a crowded city to catalog its artifacts. Uniform salarymen, floating commodities and omnipresent barcodes clogs the weightless frame. Yamamura’s multi-plane cel animation suggests an aquarium on land, a pointedly cockeyed vision of modernity.

I'm currently on a Koji Yamamura spree. Out of all his shorts this was easily the least enjoyable. The soundtrack was great though. Probably the sole aspect that enthralled me in the slightest.

Recommend me some short Manga!

Weird but I like the art. Still don't get if the old guy was bird watching or what? And what was up with the barcodes?

5/10.

Pretty strange video. I did not like the soundtrack one bit though and found it to be rather messy.

The symbolism in this animation is quite astute. The cacophonous soundtrack of this animation connects to the setting in an extreme fashion. Having lived in the city for the majority of my life, I know that the city is full of messy, lingering sounds, and I think the soundtrack portrays that nicely.

If you're curious as to what the professor was looking for:

I think he was looking for peace and quiet as shown in the before credits ending scene where he wanders off into the forest and leaves his binoculars, which he used to watch the rumble of the city, behind in the after-credits shot.

Pretty much exactly what the synopsis said. Some symbolism on excessiveness, overpopulation in cities and potentially some criticism on consumerism.

Cool short about modernity. The Researcher is like a Diogenes/Buddha combo.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
