Information Assalam o Alaikum
I'm bad at being a leader and I'm even worse at explaining rules and stuff. So, basically, I'll only tell you the reason why I made this club.
Ever felt that mawkish sentiment going on inside your head when you see a fellow Muslim on a 'stranger' site? Well, that's the underlying idea. I'm pretty sure many would already have made clubs like this but since Auntie Bacchi says all of them are dead, I'm creating a new one.
What I'm seeing among Muslims on MAL is what I'm seeing in the Muslim Ummah at large: an identity crisis. And since I'm too optimistic to just say ''screw it, it's beyond my scope'', I try to salvage every opportunity I can to make a difference even if that difference doesn't amount to anything. I want this club to be more concerned with the 'Muslims' than 'Islam'. We are a community, so act like one. Before I turn this description into a braggadocio fest, I'd better get down to writing a few rules.
Rule 1
No sectarianism.
We're all Muhammadi and I'm pretty sure Muhammad (pbuh) didn't know any terms such as Shia, Sunni, Wahabi and whatnot. The only prefix that fits the word 'Muslim' is a 'non'. So yeah, either call yourself a Muslim or be a non-Muslim. No Shia Muslim, no Sunni Muslim, no Wahabi, no Salafi, no sufi and so on. Quran is anti-sectarianism. And if you have some kind of justification in your head about 'sectarianism' then let me explain it to you beforehand that that 'sectarianism' concerns only differences in opinions among matters, not beliefs. If Umar (R.A) provided thieves with impunity because he didn't want to punish people who stole out of hunger, then Ali (R.A) didn't do that. That kind of a difference in opinion is a blessing because both time periods were different. Severing the religion into 73 pieces can never be a blessing.
Rule 2
Follow the Islamic rules of conduct.
Talk good. I know, we all cuss, slander and backbite. I too am guilty of it. But let's draw a line here. May what we do in this club go far into our lives. Cussing won't result in an immediate ban or something like that, it seriously just concerns you and Allah. I'm not the one to interfere. If the Muslim inside you stops you, heed him. If he doesn't, then it's time for some spiritual renovation.
Rule 3
Don't issue rulings.
We're all laymen here. Unless you are actually qualified, refrain from issuing rulings. Instead, cite the opinions and rulings given by qualified scholars.
Please refrain from posting NSFW material as well.
Those are the only rules I've thought of yet.
Anyways, here are some extra tips:
1. Don't belittle a fellow Muslim if he confesses some sin or if you find some fault in him/her. Guide him/her instead. You don't want Allah to reveal your faults to the entire mankind on the day of judgment.
2. Refrain from complimenting your fellows on religious matters. We can't put dirt in your mouth over the internet (as Hadith advises us) so please be wary lest you make a fellow turn into a Munafiq.
3. Don't be too formal; make it feel like a community. But don't be too casual either; unless it turns into a circlejerk.
That's all. Discuss anything you want.
