Watching Ouran Koukou Host Club in high school inspired him to become a seiyū and he greatly respects Mamoru Miyano who voiced Tamaki. He hated studying in high school so he didn’t go to university and instead worked part time at a karaoke place.
Like Kouichi Yamadera, who he looks up to, he did not attend any special school for voice acting. Instead he applied directly to Across Entertainment, stating that he wanted to become a seiyū in the application form and sent it with a voice sample. From there he took a three month workshop and auditioned for the company, thereafter becoming a temporary member of the agency. For two years he stayed in the position of a temporary employee but in 2012 became a full time member.
Officially debuted as a seiyū in 2011, with his first main role in 2012 anime Tari Tari. He also had a hand in composing music used in the series.
Sora Amamiya, his co-star in Tokyo Ghoul and Aldnoah.Zero, gave him the nickname Hanaho. While Toshiyuki Toyonaga, his co-star in Tokyo Ghoul and the Tokyo Ghoul Radio Show, gave him the nickname Nacchan.
