Noragami

In times of need, if you look in the right place, you just may see a strange telephone number scrawled in red. If you call this number, you will hear a young man introduce himself as the Yato God.

Yato is a minor deity and a self-proclaimed "Delivery God," who dreams of having millions of worshippers. Without a single shrine dedicated to his name, however, his goals are far from being realized. He spends his days doing odd jobs for five yen apiece, until his weapon partner becomes fed up with her useless master and deserts him.

Just as things seem to be looking grim for the god, his fortune changes when a middle school girl, Hiyori Iki, supposedly saves Yato from a car accident, taking the hit for him. Remarkably, she survives, but the event has caused her soul to become loose and hence able to leave her body. Hiyori demands that Yato return her to normal, but upon learning that he needs a new partner to do so, reluctantly agrees to help him find one. And with Hiyori's help, Yato's luck may finally be turning around.

Noragami is one of the best action anime out there.

Noragami is an insanely popular anime but it is rarely talked about nowadays. Noragami is a 2014 Action Supernatural anime and is the perfect anime for the Genre, Its got a nice mix of action and supernatural elements in there blending to make an amazing anime. The action scenes are awesome, Cool spells, Big monsters ETC. Typical overpowered MC that is just a pure badass and is really fun to watch. The character bonding in this anime is amazing aswell, Seeing the bond between the 3 MC characters, Yato, Hiyori and Yukine, was really sweet to ... watch, seeing them all happy together and they felt like really realistic friends. This anime is also extremely dark at times with topics such as suicide, Child death etc. Really though this anime can feel hard to watch for the fact of how disturbing some of the scenes can be so be sure to take that in mind when watching this anime.

The OST for Noragami is also absolutely amazing. The OP song "Goya No Machiawase" Is a certified banger and is really nice to listen to at the start of every episode. Not to mention the OST outside of the OP and outro is really nice aswell, With one of the OST being this slow mellow track (Unnamed sadly) With guitar reminiscent of Lo-fi music and is played during the Wholesome SOL type scenes and just really adds the the atmosphere of this anime. Speaking of the Atmosphere the Atmosphere in this anime is absolutely amazing, With the dark scenes feeling really dark, The wholesome scenes feeling really wholesome etc. The vibes with this anime are just absolutely amazing to say the least.

The plotline throughout the anime is also another very strong strong point of the anime, with many varying different arcs spanning throughout the episodes, so no filler episodes throughout the anime. Every episode feels very packed full of content with a little but of everything sprinkled into each episode making it an utter masterpiece to watch so overall it's an amazing story to say the least. Another thing to mention is the animation, Despite the animation being amazing and really nice to look at it is the weakest point of the series but that should say something, The animation for this anime is absolutely stunning to look at. Seeing all of these environments, they feel almost nostalgic despite never having seen them before so they really went above and beyond for the animation. The only bad part of this anime is the fan service, while tame it is still in there sadly which almost made me move it down to a 9/10 so beware of that.

Overall a must watch for any anime fan, It is perfect for any anime watcher new or experienced, It has something for everything and is very worthy of being ranked a 10. 10/10

Mixed Feelings

I went into Noragami thinking it was going to be a show that mixes the feelings of an action packed Shonen and an edgy Seinen, but I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, the dialogue was funny and the animation quality never really hindered, but the chemistry between the characters wasn't the greatest. On their own, the characters are great but the way that their stories developed weren't the best, except Yato. Examples of this viewpoint can be explored such as after Yukine dealt with certain problems that are not to be named because of reasons such as letting people actually read this to help ... know if they will like the show or not, it felt like he kind of left the story, or the fact that Hiyori never actually gets anything done in the show except help Yukine and Yato, which didn't add on to her story. Yato's story on the other hand was quite interesting as he fought his way through the many problems he himself had inadvertantly created.

As for the actual story itself, it was kind of confusing. There really wasn't any particular goal in mind these people had, except Hiyori wanting to not fall and go to sleep every time Yato shows up. The main antagonist doesn't really exist because the villain who is supposed to be the main point of interest's main point of interest doesn't show up until the show is rolling towards the closing of curtains and his backstory is basically that he's evil and his evilness made him gain the power to be more evil, with his true intent for all the suffering he's brought being, to become more evil than any other man. (Okay, no more mentioning of the word evil)

All in all, the show is more or less your average Shonen with good comedy and an average but fun premise, which is why I give it a 7.3/10 for the personal scale. (Keep in mind, the personal scale shall not be used to diminish your wanting to watch this or any other show) Make sure to keep your seatbelts on in this rollercoaster we people call life.

History 3/10

Noragami has the kind of story that attracts in the first ep. and then gets lost in the void. It starts with an interesting and intriguing theme, but leaves all the initial construction to start a cliché novel. From there, starts shooting everywhere: creates characters to try to strengthen the initial idea, but fails stupidly because of poor and insufficient development. The ending is catastrophic, being just a relief in the plot. Conclusion: Noragami fails miserably in the whole central idea, but has some interpersonal moments between characters that "save" the anime from pure failure.

Art and Sound 5/10

There is not much to stand out ... here. It is nothing close to the art direction of the Makoto Shinkai films, the absurd harmony with the plot of the Studio Ghibli films or the touching and expressive character of Sangatsu no Lion, but it is also not to be thrown away. In the end, it is enough.

Characters 2/10

We have come to Noragami's big problem.
At first, we have the protagonist disguised as a charisma just to appear to have some identity. Beside him, a generic dere whose only existential function is to remain beside the protagonist, being used only at the beginning and forgotten by everything else.
After a few walks, they find the third protagonist: a lost boy with a dark past whose narrative function is to be immature and to become mature. The production rushed this one so much that it reminded me of the "emotional and difficult" beginning of Tokyo Ghoul.

This ends the cliché trio of shounen: the protagonist, with whom the majority without a critical sense identifies, the childish friend and the woman. [In common shounens, the protagonist can be replaced by the childish, which matures throughout the anime, and the childish friend becomes the intelligent the charismatic, or the dumb one.]

About the supporting characters, it's amazing how they all have "a past" with the protagonist, what, again, serves as a cover for the problematic plot. The supporting characters are the most superficial thing. They just surge to create a situation with the protagonist, always starting from the "unknown past" with him. The highlight is for the villain: usually, when it comes to the villain, even the greedy studios are concerned with giving some personality, but, in Noragami, he arises from the same "unknown past" as Yato. In conclusion, everything about Noragami's characters is deplorable and shameful, from protagonists made with the utmost laziness to disposable support characters.

Enjoyment 2/10

Even after so many problems, enjoyment is subjective to everyone. Personally, I only say that I slept in the last episodes and found the entire anime a waste of time.

Overall 3.5/10

Noragami is a shame of the modern industry, using and abusing the "wow first episode", cliché and superficial characters, artificial development and a conclusion that makes no sense or is trustworthy with what was proposed. I didn't see anything that was constructive or entertaining in the anime.
