Pale Cocoon

Sakasama no Patema is basically a longer, more detailed Pale Cocoon with more action and a happier ending. Pale Cocoon, on the other hand, makes more sense scientifically and has the better song. 

Both Mikako of Voices and the protagonists of Pale Cocoon are forcibly alienated from Earth. Both stories take place in a depopulated and dystopic future, and emphasize a kind of ethereal nostalgia for the "Home Planet." Both involve elements of ambiguous romance. 

Post-apocalyptic sci-fi and deal with multilevel-ground. Main characters curious about how the real world is. And one day, when they finally realize the truth about the real world, something is happened. 

Both are about a futuristic post apocalyptic world. Main characters are unaware of the past and try to peace together clues on what happened. Ergo Proxy is more action based where as Pale Cocoon is more cyberpunk. 

Made by the same studio, Has the same mysterious feeling of wanting to know what is happening.

Both movies in a genre of science fiction. Both in a post-apocalyptic setting. From how it looks to me, Freedom seems to be the developed embodiment of some plot ideas of Pale Cocoon 

Both science-fiction series show humanity using technology to shut itself off from reality. While both are fairly downbeat, both shows have intelligent and affecting storylines that should appeal to the same audience. 

While Pale Cocoon is one 30 minute OVA and BPP is a series, both share very much the same feeling of dark noir and mystery. In BPP, you get confronted by strange things happening such as phantom spiders that seem to feed on people's hearts - and in Pale Cocoon, no one really knows that the world is anymore, and therefore you get a similar sense of "ok, why are they doing that?" or "ok....and that happened...why?" Both series are rewarding when you can figure them out and seem to make you want to keep watching them to see if calamity is eventually resolved. 

Both are set in the future with a Sci-fi setting with a city that never ends. Blame is technology overrunning humans, Pale Cocoon is using a city enveloped with technology to find information on the past.  

Both Pale Cocoon and Serial Experiments Lain are concerned with society moving from the "real" world into a realm dominated by technology. The two series are concerned as to whether this is a step in the direction of progress, or a retreat from what makes us human. 

Two sci-fi short films that try to reconnect its characters with the beauty and joy of humanity that is now absent from a dystopic world. 

Pale Cocoon and Blame! are very mysterious, full of rampant technology, and quiet. They are also filled with lots of suspense about the world and the future of humanity, which will leave you on the edge of your seat begging for more. 

- Has as awesome story - The characters have the same amount of depth - The music is equally memorable - Equally amazing CGI - Both are underrated masterpieces - Similiar vibes after watching 

A short film also by Yoshiura and has a very similar style. Pale Cocoon could well be let in the same universe as Eve no Jikan. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoyed this, or sci-fi in general.  

Nemure Omoi Ko and Pale Cocoon are about lonely characters that feel abandoned by the world. They do have a parter, but they do not fufill the main character's curiosity about the world they can't reach. Both shows are Sci-fi and have a lot of wide angle shots. 

What happens when humanity is on the brink of extinction? Staking it out in outer space becomes an option. Pale Cocoon expounds on the mundane life of living in space, and can get dull eventually, but features a musical section that is as beautiful as Shelter. 

Both animes are in a post apocalyptic world, where the humans are surrounded by machines and technology. The goal of the main character is precisely the same in the two animes: to be able to see the sky one day.  

While I was watching Pale Cocoon, for some reason, I thought of this. I don't know why; it's a post-apocalyptic science-fantasy (nothing to do with Final Fantasy except being directed by its creator) about a scientist who is the host for one of the aliens that destroyed humankind. She believes that the way to banish the alien threat is to collecty seven "spirits"... well, I'm going to spoil it if I go on more, so... basically, I don't know why I think Pale Cocoon fans would like it, but I think you would. :) 

If you like post-apocalyptic dystopian settings, this is for you. More action-oriented than Pale Cocoon, but with a deep plot as well, although you might not get it if you're not a Final Fantasy fan. Lush CG animation, too, and a legendary soundtrack (one of the best I've heard in any anime). 

Both are quiet, beautiful depictions of romance 

They both are based on two main characters in apocalyptic situations. Both anime series emphasize colors since special events are colored in bright colors while the rest have a muddy hue.  

Both Pale Cocoon and Evangelion are post-apocalyptic sci-fi anime. Throughout both (although Pale Cocoon is a mere one episode in comparison) the lead struggles with identity and purpose while becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the world around him. Both have unique endings as well that shed a somewhat positive light on what would otherwise be very negative. 

(Without spoiling anything) Both are about post apocalyptic "societies" trying to survive and figure out the world they live in. Similar themes and environment designs, though Cocolors is much more "fantasy" in it's approach. They both invoke similar moods by the end. If you crave a short but clever movie to watch quickly but think about for a while after, either of these will sate that hunger. 

Same cold, silent and strange atmosphere. Even if Kikumana is shorter than Pale Cocoon, both express the same feeling of loneliness in a "futurist" world.  

Both anime plots are about living in the moon and their separate past in the earth.
