While Popotan and Sekirei have little to nothing in common, they for sure DO have large breasted ladies.

So the premise of each story is pretty different. Kino no Tabi is about an adventurer traveling the world, while Popotan is about 3 girls and their android maid traveling through time and space. However, both share a common goal: finding answers. Kino is on a quest for self-discovery; Ai, Mai, and Mii travel to find the answers to their most personal questions. Each episode, with a few exceptions, is a standalone story about the daily lives of the main characters, and while the two shows have fairly different genres, both do a really good job at creating a similar atmosphere.

The theme of both shows are the implications of space-time travel of supernatural characters for the worlds they visit and the people they bond with during their stay. The approach to their many worlds multiverse in both anime is seemingly episodic at first, but evolves into a rather philosophical overarching story connecting them. In both shows, this is contrasted with massive nudity and kiddy grade comedy, but fortunately it never goes down to worn cliché ecchi tropes. This is easily understood by the source material, in both cases adult visual novels. There's yuri baiting in both, far more so in Yami. Due to their world's  read more

It's absolutely obvious that Popotan is not even close as good as Steins;Gate , but if you like the idea of time travel and want to see the effects of it in a decent story about 3 girls, then Popotan is actually a fair choice to watch.

In almost every single aspect, Popotan is quite the opposite of Mnemosyne. The one aspect that both shows share is the idea of immortality (albeit in different ways). In both shows, certain characters remain the same age-wise while having to watch the world go by around them. The people they encounter may grow old and die while they do not age a day. The emotional consequences of this situation are touched on more heavily in Popotan. If you watched Mnemosyne and are dying for more anime that spans long gaps of time while the main characters remain unchanged, try Popotan  read more

The art style is similar, as they're both done by the same person. Popotan is a lot less combat oriented, but is more ecchi.

The bubbly characters, loving relationships and hilarious sisterly ridiculing... it's all here with a few giant spoonfuls of awesomeness.

These shows are somewhat similar since they focus about girls' relationships... In both series the characters try to help others with there problems on an emotional level... I got the same emotions from watching this show as Popotan, I really felt what the characters were going through... And I really cared what their feelings were... (This is very rare in anime; when you care so much that you almost cry, ...or do cry, if your in my case.^-^) I would Recommend both of these anime to anyone that wants an anime that will move your heart, break it, and then piece it back together...
