The theme of both shows are the implications of space-time travel of supernatural characters for the worlds they visit and the people they bond with during their stay. The approach to their many worlds multiverse in both anime is seemingly episodic at first, but evolves into a rather philosophical overarching story connecting them. In both shows, this is contrasted with massive nudity and kiddy grade comedy, but fortunately it never goes down to worn cliché ecchi tropes.
