Ristorante Paradiso

Another beautiful enigmatic story paced for relaxation. 

These two series set in restaurants have a lot more in common than just that. Both were specifically targeted at older viewers, resulting in older characters and more mature plots than your average anime; and both have a calm, slice-of-life feel with a bit of romance added for flavor. 

It has the same style of music and gives you the same feeling that you are in another capital of one of Europe's countries. It also relaxes you and could be placed in a new genre together with Aria and Ristorante Paradiso. 

These are both set around a restaurant and are largely focused on character drama and the daily life at said restaurant. They are slow paced, relaxing, and set a similarly warm mood. Most characters are male in both. 

Ristorante Paradiso is a Josei and Koi wa Ameagari no You ni is a Seinen, two series dedicated to appealing to older audiences. Both series feature a main female character who has an attraction to a much older gentleman. Plenty of romance and slice of life elements, complete with mature and realistic characters.  

These anime actually have more in common more than the synopsis of a runaway mother and an abandoned daughter. They share: ･ Delightful, quaint settings of a traditional Japanese inn (Iroha) and an elegant Italian restaurant (Paradiso), both of which is presented with charming visuals. ･ An insight into the service industry, particularly food in Paradiso and overall hospitality in Iroha. The eclectic staff and the inner workings of the inn/restaurant is tinged with realism and is rather fascinating to watch. ･ Female leads who start off fresh-faced and bitter about their mothers, and go through personal growth as they experience life in their new environments. Both were very likeable. ･ The mother/daughter thing - relationships between the different generations of women (3 in Iroha) are shown as complex and flawed. It's explored well enough to appreciate and subtly enough to feel real. On the whole, a rather impressive portrayal of women of different ages. read more 

Both are a slice of life anime that deals with working in a restaurant. There's one sided love, and conflict and resolution. 

Both protagonists are really similar. They move into a new field that they are not used to, and they learn and help out all their peers each episode. Both anime also have some nice, relaxing openings in my opinion. 

The shows have a similar relaxing feel over each episode making you totally relaxed at each episodes end! Although both the concepts differ from the shows either has their own strong and weak points! 

I think these animes are both intended for the same target group. Both show different complex female/male-relationship between adults/ older adults . Otona Joshi no Anime Time is more poetic and focuses on the women while Ristorante Paradiso shows the relationships mostly from the male perspective and has more steady art.

From the same original author, Natsume Ono. Apart from the story itself, they are totally different genre, although both contain a bit of slice of life in it, I can see them heading totally different direction. However, there is noticeable similarity inside the character design, especially the male character. If you enjoy characters with mysteriousness, 'Ristorante Paradiso' is also going to be an enjoyable romance for you. 

Working at a part-time restaurant job that you genuinely enjoy, with a nice working environment and coworkers. Both have plenty of romance and stuff about Italy Blend S is more cutesy and less serious though, with less elements of harem 

Notable Similarities 1) Tone: Ristorante Paradiso and Red Garden have a similar relaxed mood that is felt as soon as the opening credits and then carries on throughout. A realistic style of art is shared, which helps set the tone of the series, as well. There no crazy-looking eyes that take up half of the face or exaggerated emotions. 2) Location: Red Garden and Ristorante Paradiso are both set in real and popular cities--Ristorante Paradiso in Rome, and Red Garden in New York City. Notable Differences 1) Age and gender: The characters in Ristorante Paradiso are all adults and mostly male, while Red Garden's main characters are high school girls. (*I think it's important to note that, even though the characters in Red Garden are in high school, there are no school uniforms, which may be a relief for fans of more mature and slowly paced anime who have had it with that whole scene.) 2) Plot: Ristorante Paradiso has a lighter plot with a romance angle, while Red Garden has a dark subject matter with a mystery angle.  read more 

Both series are Josei focused on character interaction and development with a driven female lead and elements of romance.  

Both share the same formula regarding character’s design: No need for extravagant hair colors or big sparkly eyes, just simple and “realistic” character designs. That, and the character’ personality is all you need to love them. Both are set up in the real actual world. Different premises, similar atmosphere, similar protagonist: a young 20 years old lady. 

The waiters in Ristorante not only capture the hearts of their customers like the boys of the Ouran Host Club, but they also all have their own unique attributes despite most of them wearing glasses. Nicoletta, like Haruhi, questions the strange yet entrancing ways of these gentlemen and eventually becomes fond of the warm atmosphere surrounding them and the restaurant they call home. If you want a more European version of Ouran without all the frills and sparkles (and a bit of pasta, too), then give Ristorante Paradiso a try. 

Both shows are adaptations of Ono Natsume's works, and even though the genres are quite different, they both share the same skill of writing you'd expect. Worth checking out if you want more from Ono Natsume, who tends to do works aimed more at adults. 

The subject matter is completely different, but they are similar in that they deal with more mature themes from a female perspective. There is quirky lighthearted humor in both shows and there are adult situations and complicated or serious issues which are addressed and portrayed in a realistic dramatic manner.  

another anime where men are serving women :) i mean - nice, gentle, inteligent and handsome men ;) 

Both are about a cafe where people with unique backgrounds come to share a common ground. The main characters both have unusual relationships that lead them to the different cafes.  

Both are set in southern, very special countries- Brazil and Italy(Rome), both include an element of broken families and rejecting parents. 

Both are mature, realistic dramas about life, romance and finding oneself. 

Ristorante Paradiso gives the same feeling as Yakitate!! Japan. Even though Ristorante Paradiso is more based on elderly men serving women than cooking itself, there are parts where characters try hard to improve their cooking, creating something new, wanting to get better at what they do. It also shows the hardship of becoming a chef. And generally the human relationships, characters' lives and difficulties that come along.
