Tengoku Daimakyou

Fifteen years ago, disaster struck human civilization, and now dangerous man-eating monsters roam the ravaged lands, posing an existential threat to the remaining survivors. Amid this turmoil, an isolated facility shelters children and nurtures them in peace. However, as a few among them find out about the world beyond the narrow periphery of their nursery's walls, their curiosity about it slowly grows.

Meanwhile, in the outside world, young survivors Maru and Kiruko band together to search for a special place called Heaven, each for their own reasons. Carrying past burdens and tragic secrets, the two hope to find answers to the cruelty they have experienced in their lives and in the world, which still remains in tatters.

This anime just kept taking me by surprise. Enjoyable throughout. The second the first season ending credits rolled across my screen I went and found the manga. The story is captivating. Its a classic post-apocalypse journey type of narrative. Exploring the ruins of what was once Japan. The anime does a great job of showing you the way the world is given everything that happened without ever really covering what went down. Civilization has fallen and had time to start to spring back up. Life goes on even after huge catastrophes and the people / scenes of this world feel realistic.

The characters are an interesting ... bunch. We really only get to know our two main travelers, some side characters, and whatever the hell those kids are. I'm not going to spoil too much, but there is a concurrent story of this weird Promised Neverland like world filled with super powered horny kids. I'm still not 100% sure how they relate to the 2 main characters but I've got some strong theories and the last 2 episodes reveal a lot.

The OST is a bop. I still hum the melody to myself a bunch. Definitely one to add to the playlist. I looked up when season 2 is dropping and got disappointed. Very good anime

A series that in my opinion has more merit than it deserves, look at the series it is not completely bad but they showed it to me as the best series this year that will have an amazing story but when I saw it it seemed more like an ordinary series, yes it is a trip in a post-apocalyptic world but nothing more, it does not bring us a new proposal and if it does it seems more like a copy of different series that converged here, from my point of view for a series to work it must hook you from the beginning and ... maintain the standard for the first episodes so that you watch the full series later even if its episodes are not so interesting here it was not the case, it takes a while for something to happen and it takes a long time, in this season we saw absolutely nothing with the mysteries Only some things happened in this world that gave us a taste of what the series could be but nothing more, we don't know what happened or how it happened, we don't know what the objective of our protagonists is or how it will relate to the secondary story, no. We know why they isolated some children from this apocalypse, we don't know how the boy's ability works, it really doesn't explain anything to us and it frustrates me a lot, the story of the boys is not interesting at all and neither is that of the organization, I was left with an anime that could have done many more and better things but ended up doing everything halfway which will leave many with many mysteries but for me it was just another ordinary series.

Una serie que a mi parecer tiene mas mérito de lo que se merece, miren la serie no es mala por completo pero a mi me la mostraron como la mejor serie en este año que tendrá una historia asombrosa pero cuando la vi se me hizo mas como una serie del montón, si es un viaje en un mundo posapocaliptico pero nada mas, no nos trae una nueva propuesta y si lo hace parece mas una copia de distintas series que convergieron aquí, desde mi punto de vista para que una serie funcione debe de engancharte desde el principio y mantener el estándar los primeros episodios para que veas la serie completa después aunque sus episodios no sean tan interesantes aquí no fue el caso, tarde en que pase algo y tarda mucho, en esta temporada no vimos absolutamente nada con los misterios de este mundo solo pasaron algunas cosas que nos dieron una probadita de lo que puede ser la serie pero nada mas, no sabemos que paso o como paso, no sabemos cual es el objetivo de nuestros protagonistas o como se relacionara con la historia secundaria, no sabemos para que aislaron a unos niños de este apocalipsis, no sabemos como funciona la habilidad del chico, en verdad no nos explica nada y me frustra muchísimo, la historia de los chicos no es nada interesante y la de la organización tampoco, me quede con un anime que pudo hacer muchas mas y mejores cosas pero termino haciendo todo a medias que dejara a muchos con muchos misterios pero para mi fue una serie mas del montón.

Y'all, so I never want to be a hater but here we go. This is a bad anime full of potentially great moments and I am so frustrated I stuck with it.

Any plot-lines I hoped to build into something meaningful ended with left-turn creeper slop. Shoutout anyone who enjoyed it, I sure as hell did not. There is so much here that could lead to something great, so much aura in the world-building, and at seemingly every moment it is about to peak it leads into the worst mess of garbage. Maybe that is the point of the show. The world is terrible and the ... apocalypse is already upon us and we're all gonna die and before we get there we will all turn into monsters. I haven't read ahead so if that is the meaning of the show, it is still a ridiculous waste of time.

Where is the enjoyment in all of this? It's a sludge-burst of cynicism at best and a weirdo xxx bait at worst. It takes all of this potential in building up this depressing world and does absolutely nothing with it. I love looking into who the characters are, who they believe they identify as in the world they exist in, the concepts of the worlds they believe they are in, and all of the depths that could contribute to this storyline. But instead the whole thing just fucking sucks. Every peak moment is marred by the writing, and all of the writing is only aiming to achieve some peak moment. It always ends in some twisted in for only being twisted moment that only serves to subtract from every good part that could have been.

Of the anime this was compared to, Made In Abyss is always in the convo. What Made In Abyss does with the world it builds and the way its characters interact in it is creepy and mystifying, and all of the uncomfortable and inky-black moments of it ADD to the world they exist in. This is some garbagewank shoehorned into what could be a great and dark futuristic fantasy and it doesn't know how to make the connection into a meaningful story. The mysteries stay mystery for no apparent reason, and any answers we get are so unfulfilling and frustrating. If this is an allegory on the bleakness of our actual human experience, great, but it gave ZERO enjoyment from it. All of the peaks of this show were marred by the supposed payoffs. And all the meaning the payoffs supposedly were supposed to give gave nothing.

The only credit I give this anime is the fact it made me finish it. That's about it. If there is a season 2 I might watch it only because I hate myself that much. 4/10 would NOT recommend.

I need to go watch Saiki K or something to cleanse my mind from this bullshit. This was awful.
