both got intense drama and depression
report Recommended by topzki47
Both are about not giving up on unrequited love. Also they have a similar art style and humor and are about the same length!

Dramatic? Romance? Slice of life? Definitely need to watch Suzuka. They both are from the same world "timeline" but they both definitely talk about romance and the slice of life that makes your heart beat fast and unsatisfied until you reach the answer. If you like Kimi no Iru Machi, you will definitely like Suzuka.

Very similar plots and characters. - Both main characters live in the same area - Both main characters have a crush on a girl they hardly know Crazy how similar the characters are just saying ;)

Sport theme with romance. Some very funny moments and drama! Many similarities....u dont want me to spoil it so i'll shut up and u watch it now!

Taiga and Suzuka remind me of each other exactly. Headstrong personality and strong willed. Except, Suzuka tends to have better manners than Taiga..
report Recommended by sooyeol
The entire structure of the show is almost the same as Love Hina, including plot twists.
report Recommended by biGfrend
It keeps you involved and it makes you feel for the characters.

These two animes are very much alike because of the sport and romance involved. The realization of their individual hidden talent and the lead up to finding it is also very similar as the initial intention was to catch the attention of their beloved. Overdrive is a sport romance but the sport part of the anime pretty much dominates the storyline, in contrast, Suzuka is based on the affection of the main character (Akitsuki Yamato) towards Asahina Suzuka. There is also a similarity between the two female protagonist's somewhat aggressive but elegant personality. Whether you are watching it for the sport or the romance, they  read more

Great school romance build up with characters aiming for achievements in their own sporting category. Blue box - better dept in term of slice of life/school activities Suzuka - more drama/romance content

This anime is recommended because the story is well made, romance and drama sets you to thinking about real life. Like Clannad this story will touch your emotions. This anime has 26 nice episodes, the after story off this anime isn't shown but its readable in the manga. Still i recommend the anime and the manga to the fans of Clannad after story! --------Story ----- Yamato Akitsuki travels to Tokyo alone to study in one of the high schools located within the area. He lives in with his aunt who operates a public bath solely for the ladies in the local district and begins his normal high-school  read more

Both really good serious romance with solid background comedy!
report Recommended by angelfan16
Both series are about love between people that live in boarding houses and in both series there are rowdy neighbors that love to drink. *POSSIBLE SPOILER* In both series the male leads are in love with women who have lost the ones they love and can't move on from it.

Suzuka is little more dramatic than Peach Girl, but both are enjoyable series.
report Recommended by RedMageSohma
Both Suzuka and Bokura ga Ita have very similar plots, in which one of the characters are distracted by the thought of another person that is not physically present in the plot itself. They are also very dramatic with few or limited comedy scenes, with great character development and lots of suspense for the roller coaster ride effect. The best way to think about these two anime is the genders are switch for the main characters of the two series. This only applies to romance, since Bokura ga Ita does not have sports as a prevalent theme.
report Recommended by KholdStare88
these two are similar because they both have the same romance comedy vibe although Ichgo 100% has a bigger harem and more romance. the manga verison are also nice too.
report Recommended by nate23nate23
Both have protagonists who fall in love with a person who constantly refuses to reciprocate said love and treats the protagonist like crap, yet the protagonist continues throughout the entire series to try to win the object of their affection's heart even when superior alternatives come around.
report Recommended by Florete
Although the girl to one guy ratio is larger in Kanon, they both have a lot of love and drama going on. Suzuka is more realistic in terms of the story and setting.
report Recommended by xdzzz
Both are interesting romance anime with a straightforward guy who falls in love with a girl at first sight. If you like a short shoujo anime with a school setting, you should watch Sukitte Ii no yo and if you like a little longer anime with more drama and a sport setting, you should watch Suzuka. Anyway if you like romance, you should just watch both.

Both anime have the same feel of a boy growing while doing something new and falling in love
report Recommended by firedragon2013
Both are animes with lead characters involved in a sport, specifically the female lead. There are many ups and downs related to love and relationships that do eventually work out. Both are older style animes that deserve more attention in the community.
report Recommended by chibird
i recommend D.N.Angel because both are similar in the relationship part for example both main characters fall in love with two different girls. other than that its nothing like Suzuka at all! people who like magic, fantasy and a hint of romance i recommend D.N.Angel.
report Recommended by HolloCrow
Though both animes have different subplots and back stories but both follows the same pattern. An average male protagonist move to new city to improve himself instantly fell in love with a girl who is cool, near perfect and somewhat stubborn but also has kind side of herself. As the series progresses boy goes through various obstacles to win the heart of the girl he cares for....

The style of both of the animes is very much the same and the person who wrote Suzuka also made Kimi no Iru Machi!
report Recommended by darkestflame
Both anime are romance stories of a main character falling in love with someone who had an unpleasant past causing them to reject the love initially. Theses to anime are so strikingly similar that if you reverse the roles of the main characters the story will be the exact same think. In Suzuka the main character is a boy whereas in Ao Haru Ride the main character is a girl but both character's love interest is that of a person who has a sad past. Then there is the typical complex romance system in between. If you got butterflies in your stomach watching one,  read more

they have a sport side and romance and the main characters look like them

Two of the only 'romance' anime that I can honestly stomach. Nana is a story of two women who are both called Nana who meet each other by happenstance on a train and get to know each other. One is an awkward ditz and the other one is a cool and composed rock star. The anime follows their love lives and how they develop as people. It can be depressing, but it's very realistic and down to earth. Shizuka is an anime that feels very real too, centered around a young man and his interest in a girl called Shizuka who is still dealing with trauma  read more

Both have bad Romance plots and annoying characters who often make poor decisions.

There are so many semilarities between these two animes. I am quite surprise that anyone hasn't make this recommendation yet. -Both have a lovetriangle. -both have a Mr.nice guy as a protogonist. -In both anime, there is a cold, stone-hearted girl who is very passionate about her talent. And also in both anime that girl has a traumatic past. -White album 2 is about music, Suzuka is about sports. -Both have good art. I am sure if you liked one, you will like the another.

- Main and some side characters have a lot of similar traits; - Protagonist got hidden reserve that reveals over time; Although Touch has more sport-oriented theme with better story line and character interactions, you can still get some enjoyment with Suzuka.
report Recommended by Daniel_Feynman
High School Romance played a big part in both of the anime and they(Couple) gradually get more attached to each other as the time pass. There seems to be more 'Ups and Downs' in Suzuka and both protagonists from Suzuka focus more on sports compared to Tsuki ga Kirei but imo I find Tsuki ga Kirei has more adorable moments. Both are really great anime so if you like either one of the anime, the other one will suite you perfectly.
report Recommended by Velcire
The main female character is very similar in both anime: personality, story, and decisions to make. There's this family aspect where characters live close to each other and often visit each other. There's an interest in sports too. If you like one anime, there's a good chance you like the other!

the main characters in both anime experienced tragedy in their romantic life. both have a deep drama and beautiful stories

Both ARE serious romance anime !
report Recommended by Startronica
Both are about sports and similar animation. They deal with the difficulties they face from trying to achieve their goals. For anyone who enjoys watching basketball, track, or any fast pace competitive sports, or just simply high school life with some romance mixed in, they're both awesome and definitely recommenced.
report Recommended by Estoy_Gordo
For people who like tricycles and magic lamps! And other such things, like love triangles. Both are school-based dramas centering on relationship woes among the three central characters. Both series are unique among the genre in that they will throw some curves here and there, so there never is an obvious resolution to the triangle until very near the ending (if that!). Worth a watch if you enjoy multidimensional characters and aren't afraid of a little angst.

Is similar in the sense that the protagonist falls in love with a girl who is grieving over a lost lover

Two boys move from their hometown to Tokyo to live with their aunt/uncle and girl cousin. The city looks different then they remember and are both starting their first year of high school. Both involve love, drama and memories. Sana= Yamato Nanaka= Suzuka Aoi= Miho Syuusuke= Yasunobu Shuri= Miki Asami= Honoka

episode 17 just caught my eye and make my think it was suzuka for a min or two. and they're both really good animes.
report Recommended by iwashere
Suzuka has Track and Field... Nodame Cantabile has classical music... Both animes have characters at first which don't take what they do seriously. They devote themselves more and more as their love for the other character increases. Suzuka isn't based as heavily on track as Nodame Cantabile is on music. Suzuka has more drama while Nodame Cantabile has more performance. NC is a 2007 anime so it's somewhat more visually and audially appealing. Suzuka isn't as good, but it still has a strong story :)
report Recommended by Godel
At one point of the each story, the main character is stuck choosing between his girlriend and another girl who is very dear to him...also, both animes have a good amount of drama in them...

Both have Love triangles but Schools Days is for a more mature audience and Suzuka is not

Both stories revolves around a guy falling in love with a girl. Slice-of-life type of series that you will surely like ^^

Great story of love, must watch!

Both series follow the sports theme although with different type of sports. The main protagonist starts out as a rookie but improves as the episodes drags on as well as his interactions with other characters through practice, learning from mistakes, and become a pro. Romantic comedy theme is also involved throughout both anime(s).
report Recommended by Stark700
These two anime don't feature the same stories, or settings, but what they do share is a similar plot line for the two main characters. One a happy go lucky guy, the other a girl who can't let go over her tragic past. So if you over look the scifi, mecha fighting in Gunparade March. You would basicaly have Suzuka. If one wasn't good enough then have a second dose of the other.

The heroin females have the same strong characters that doesn't response to the guy who's in love with her, they both are smart and good in schools activities and popular among students. So much alike!
report Recommended by Anoo
Main characters are female. One wants to gain a spot in the olympics while the other wants to improve her skills in High Jumping. There's also a boy, who seems to be a bother some and is in their opinions -annoying. But they aren't so bad in the end and both female characters begin to notice that they actually like them.
report Recommended by LenDrizzle
In both story, the male protagonist loves a girl but complicated things happen. Being seduced or being forced and had a several relationship with different girls is also presented here.

Baby Steps and Suzuka (BS and SZK) are in very similiar genre, still they are very different- but this is recommendation so it will be better to start with those similiar 'things'. If you are looking for anime that is focused on SPORTS and ROMANCE eventually LOVE- go for both! BS and SZK shares a guy who has some own personality and starts doing sport because of the love for girl. In SZK MC goes for Track and Field club and in BS he goes for Tenis Club. Most of time they are in Club or School and there they are near to some girl who  read more
