Recommendations

Both of these Anime have similar styles, they are both sci-fi and both have quite a bit of blood and gore in them. Not to mention they're very dark series.

Both anime has the protagonist that has access to an armor that grants them supernatural powers to fight against demons with swords. The protagonist in both titles also must project civilization from demons that are constantly attacking other people. They are also both action-packed anime with 2D-3D hybrid animation and amazing fight scenes. They also contain similar levels of violence and blood. The main differences between the two is that they have different setting with Karas being set in a modern day world while Garo: The Animation has a medieval setting. If you like, you should like the other.

Similarity : A story about hero who have duty to protect the city Different : + Karas is much more dark & violent compared to Gatchaman Crowds + Gatchaman Crowds have 6 heroes (8 actually) but Karas only have 2 heroes (5 other karas don't fighting alongside the MC so i am not count them)

Both animes are very similar to each other. has action bloody and the fight scenes are very similar. Also like Karas, they put there suits on instantly and start fighting other demons...

Karas might not have the brief minutes of tentacle hentai Urotsukidouji has, but it offers all the demon action story most of it focuses on with competence

Both have a similar art style and involve the main characters protecting their city.

In terms of premise, both animated works follows a supernatural story in a world of chaos and mystery. The stories are complex and difficult to comprehend at first with many things going on. Regardless, both movie has high level visual effects and spectacular scenes. Both the main characters also seems to display intensity in terms of combat and dealing with problems throughout their respective series.

both shows are made by Tatsunoko both shows have dark heroes both shows has creepy robots both shows has a few unexplained scenes major differences: Karas takes place in Shinjuku and Casshern Sins takes place in a apocalyptic wasteland

Both have a female lead who gives the main (male) character a special ability to fight. Both have great fighting scenes. Both have mecha elements.
report Recommended by naerayan
Karas has proper storyline, while Animatrix is several divided stories, they may seem very different at the beginning, but Karas gets very Matrix-ish later in the series (men vs machines + mechanical tentacles)

Both: Mysterious girl with goggles gives superhuman powesr to a guy so he can work for her for a greater battle with an upgraded physcial body. Also the art styles are very 'sharp'.

Both are armored heroes, plot is WAY out or relation to eachother but that does´nt stop the fun from oldskool mecha suits till advanced goth armor designs in 3/d

Fights, armours, cities, characters, monsters... There is a lot of same visual and procedural details between Garo and Karas, obviously with palpable differences but definitely to keep in mind if you are searching for similar products. Anyway, and not being bad in Garo, I think the CGI used in Karas is better even considering that is from 2005-2007, due to the budget or something like that I suppose. Hope you enjoy it.

More magical sword play, special effects, and some pretty awesome fight scenes.

despite different age ratings, these two have nearly identical premise, and the central character in both is a human accepted into organization of spirits and granted with supernatural powers. both have stunning action scenes.

Note that this recommendation concerns only the short film called Kigeki (aka Comedy). Karas is longer but both anime share a lot of aspects. Both have a very dark atmosphere; a solitary dark hero, who is a man of few words; beautiful animation; awesome sword fights; and an amazing and orchestral soundtrack: Schubert’s Ave Maria in Comedy and Prague Symphony Orchestra in Karas.

- Have transformation scene - MC fighting using unique armor - Antagonists have the same power with MC
report Recommended by SSSS_Shunaria
The main protagonist in both anime has the ability to see monsters that are generally unseen by the human eye and must fight against evil powerful yokai. While Karas has a more serious tone compare to Ushio & Tora, both anime are action-packed and have some pretty violent moments. Both anime have awesome fight scenes as well. If you liked one, you'd like the other.

In both anime, the main protagonist has access to an armor that grants them supernatural abilities. The main protagonist in both titles must save the world from evil demons. Both are dark action-packed anime with violence and blood. They both have a tokusatsu feel to them. If you like one, you should like the other.

Two action-packed, supernatural anime OVAs from the mid-2000s, which could have been even stronger with more episodes. Their protagonists have tragic backstories that leads them to fight for humanity. They are cool characters and cool can do a lot to save a series. If you accept their underdeveloped stories then you might enjoy the gripping fighting sequences.

Karas and Devilman: Crybaby share the same premise: the champion for good vs the champion for evil. Each group is composed of demons, but one side seeks to protect humans whereas the other side wants to dominate them. Karas was celebrated for its high quality animation, which compensated for shortcomings in the storyline. Devilman: Crybaby can be described in the very same way. While Karas simply did not have the episodes count to properly support its storylines, Devilman: Crybaby quickly derails into nonsense yet many people think very highly of the series. If you are hoping to find something similar to watch then you should  read more

Both have dark stories with tragic heroes fighting monsters. Both feature henshin heroes (The Skull Man originated Kamen Rider) and have a tokusatsu feel to them.

Both involves hunting supernatural beings in an ultramodern city. Both GA-rei and Karas has outstanding animation. If you enjoy non-stop gun and blade-wielding action, you will probably like the two series. Warning that both series have a rather twisted plot that is hard to grasp at first.

Both animes have very good visual effects. The main character transform in to the mecha/suit with an item, which is similar. They also share the same reasons as they fighting the evil guys.

This two anime are similar in many ways. Ergo Proxy have far more complex story, but Karas have much better action. Both anime is quite dark and have some kind of protector (Creator or Proxies and Karas with Yurine).
report Recommended by XzaR
This two animes are similar in many ways, both main character have a contract between Yurine from Karas and Azif Al from Demonbane which give powers when they stay togheter. There is a evil organization in both anime who want to destroy the town or world and the ending is almost same.

Tactics and Karas both have the supernatural element of youkai living side-by-side oblivious humans, that there's a whole separate culture of creatures that go about their lives, unseen.
report Recommended by grendelity
Both shows have rather dark, morbid tales which deal with tragedy, not to mention sci-fi elements.

classical "henshin" heroes, both are very stylish, somehow deep story, dont really know how to describe it, but i do know i got the "tekkaman" feeling while watching karas

Both Bleach and Karas feature the main character fighting against supernatural characters and deals with spirit worlds interactions with the human world. They are both very action-packed filled with lots of sword fights. Karas has way fewer episodes than Bleach and is a bit more violent compared to Bleach. If you are a fan of Bleach and wants to watch another supernatural theme anime with sword fights, I recommend trying out Karas. If you like Karas and never seen Bleach before, give Bleach a try.

its just the overall presentation and 'feel'....the subtlety with which story elements are presented and pieced together is a bit similar. And there's a similar sort of vagueness to both animes...
report Recommended by eyerok
Both are fast paced, deeply philosophical, and bloody, action-packed dramas.

BRS reminds me Karas in many ways - there are very dynamic fights, it's kinda surreal, but Karas is more psychedelic and more adult, but I think if you liked BRS you would like Karas.
report Recommended by Eriis
Both revolve around Tokyo with dual realities. Both have a clear protagonist and antagonist with the antoganist turning to the dark side through choice. Both have a single female "catalyst" Yurine in Karas and Kotori in X.
report Recommended by Kage-Proxy
I found the power up form of the protaganist in Guyver similar to the one in Karas. Like Karas, Guyver is full of action, gore (though there's more in the original Guyver), fighting fearsome monsters.
