Both anime has the protagonist that has access to an armor that grants them supernatural powers to fight against demons with swords. The protagonist in both titles also must project civilization from demons that are constantly attacking other people. They are also both action-packed anime with 2D-3D hybrid animation and amazing fight scenes. They also contain similar levels of violence and blood. The main differences between the two is that they have different setting with Karas being set in a modern day world while Garo: The Animation has a medieval setting. If you like, you should like the other.

Garo was inspired by Karas.
They both feature a special being who summons/turn in a specific metallic gear which is connected to the non-human realm, and in both protagonists use this superpower gear to kill demons.
