Hanebado!

Both sports anime about a club haikyuu focusing more on the teams hard work the characters and hanebado focusing more on the struggles of the indiduals. Which i can't be held against it because badminton is a solo sport while volleyball is at minimum two. They both have stellar animation and while its early to judge the haikyuu!! characters are more realistic and have much better conversations. Neither show contains super powers if your worried about a kuroko no basuke. 

Both shows have 2 central protagonists with contrasting personalities. On one side there's the serious and angry protagonist and on the other, there's the more naturally excelling energetic protagonist (although that quickly fades in Hanebado) Both shows also shows how conflicting personalities can help athletes to grow in a sense of accepting each other 

Both have the same sports genre where it involves chacaters in a sports club vying to be the best as they struggle through the pain and challenges.  

I highly recommend Hanebado! because it is quite similar to Haikyuu!! in a few aspects. First aspect is the fact that the characters are chasing the dreams. The first episode may be really similar to the first episode of Haikyuu!! because the main character transfers to the school their rival is without knowing that their rival is there. Second, they both rely on reality but Hanebado! is way more realistic. Hanebado! also has a few funny moments but it is not considered a Comedy because the moments are limited. Unlike Haikyuu!!, Hanebado!'s cast is predominant female but this doesn't really matter much. As for animation, Hanebado! has a better animation. I think Hanebado!'s animation is the best animation I have ever seen in my long journey of watching anime. *My list is not yet updated due to my laziness but once I update it I will be swimming in the series* read more 

Sport anime, with a monster sportsman in one of them and a monster sportswoman in the other. 

Both shows have a two protagonists, where one of them try to invite another to sport team that weak. Also, there is a drama between parents and main character. 

both are sport anime with MC reluctant to play the sport one a newbie and the other a veteran. both anime have lots of family drama and some team drama. differences Star Align is a more ensemble cast with multiple stories line for almost everyone on the team. Hanebado mainly focuses on one or two characters. Note in Star Align one character is non-binary if that a problem for you it may be a skip  

Both are sports anime which involves certain sports school club. In both our protagonist is a highschool student who decided to cut ties with the club after traumatic event involving his/her mother. After being nagged by his/her friend, he/she decides to return to club. 

In both cases, the main character is unable to excel at their sport like they once were due to events within the family. It is through their new friends/experiences that they begin to gain their confidence once again 

Similarities: 1. The same sports genre, where it involves girls getting back to the sport that she already quit from it thank to a friend who convince her to get back into it. 2. The same team effort where everyone in the club gets to play. 3. The same setting in a school. dissimilarities : 1. One involves the MC character who was also the antagonist herself. While the other the antagonist were simple the opposite team. 2. One may have a subtle yuri while the other doesn't, 3. One has a lesson to be learn while the other one....we'll find out soon.  

- The same format competition with their own respective sport branches: one only winner at their end. - Its had some rivality nuances between their respective show, for me. Eventhough, i must said, Pingpong Animation led into a positivity rivality, when in the other show its led them into a negativity, when all of their result led in a same positions. An acknowledgement. - Its had the same hype. Afterall, they just representing the will of a popular branches of sport in an eastern area that belong to each others very well done. Eventhough, their nuance kinda different, when one show used some high motivations hype to led them into one goals, when in the other used a darkness matter to convoluted them into one goals. Both anime feature a cast of mainly female leads were each of the characters overcome their own obstacles with both slice of life and dramatic elements. 

Both are badminton anime with tournament arcs. Salaryman's club is a much more complete package compared to Hanebado. 

Sports anime with a girl starring it. They have both a development in the relationship of their main characters. 

Goal setting, obsession, rivalry and fair competition, getting better, losing, winning, and many more. But there's maybe the most important thing to it. A last chance to shine and succeed. Not everyone will make it. They're young but it's probably their last time. Both shows draw different line between having fun and assuming serious, professional approach.
