Dark humor, profanity abound, and evident lack of budget towards animation

Main characters are stuck in a situation (a school prison; men being forced to act like idols) where they cannot decide their fate, and get involved in a spiral of disgusting situations which always end up in dark humor. Harsh, dark humor. "Explicit" content. Sex jokes.

Due to both shows sharing the same director, the comedy between them feels similar. Also the animation style is similar as well.

Both have some degree of alcoholism and funny faces (I can't think of a better way to put it) that are so similar that I genuinely thought the same studio made both. Both are comedies, though Gokudolls is definitely dark humor while Grand Blue is more lighhearted.

If you enjoy over the top parodies of the idol genre, than either show is something for you. Sekkou Boys being more weird in its core concept, while Back Street Girls is a bit more mean spirited and having much better exaggerated character reactions.

Both are filled with dark humor and are more or less slice of life. The humor does gives similar vibes, and there are comical facial expressions in both. Confused character and if you like the sense of humor in asobi asobase, you'd definitely like gokudolls.

Both surreal comedies. Similar styles of humour. Both can have dark humour, Gokudolls is more vulgar, both shows have charm.

this is a comedy music anime. i find it personally amazing how they solve the problems in a comical and fun way I didn't expect. next to that the music used in these animes are bangers and will be in my playlist for my lifetime.

Both these anime have a lot of fast and silly humor.

Has very out there and weird humour simillar to Gintama and Nichijou. Its actual story (if it even has one) is crap but if you like humour this will certainly make you snigger at some points.

'Failed yazkuza turn into underground idols as a punishment...Well atleast they're cute.." I mean, they're nothing alike, but they're both genuinely really funny and chaotic shows, so if you like that, then definitely watch this!!

Want to watch something to laugh your ass off and temporarily escape from the pits of sadness?? Then I most definitely recommend these shows.

both series have girls groups that are actually made up of members that you wouldn't expect to find in a girls group. in the case of back street girls, its men forced to go through gender reassignments surgery and become a girl group as punishment by their boss. in the case of Zombieland saga, its girls that are reanimated from the dead years or even centuries after death, that are turned into zombies and forced to be in a girls group by some crazy asshole. both series rely on their premisses to function as a series as they are integral for the series to function. as without them,  read more

Both anime show criminals. Both anime have dark and rough humour. Both anime have similar style of art/animation.

In both of these animes: - Main characters hide their real selves - But also bond with a few who know their real selves - Both have bosses that are terrible to them - Hilarious anime that will make you laugh - Also make you feel bad for the main characters

Main theme of both shows is idol culture, although each series presents it from different perspective. "Oshi no Ko" focuses on more realistic depiction of it by showing good and bad sides of it. It also includes believable interactions between people working in the idol industry. On the other hand, Back Street Girls: Gokudolls is more about presenting idols and entertainment industry in an extremely grotesque way and with the usage of dark humor.

Both anime revolves around a protagonist who goes through hard times in and tries to get used to living in a body of a different Gender. Both of them have plenty funny and slice of life kind of moments. They both include the world of crime and have a similar edge to them. The protagonist deals with the struggles of being a girl and overcomes it to face even bigger challenges.

Himegoto is about a cross dresser more so then a sex change but it's as funny if not funnier then Gokudolls ^^

A trio of males are forced to act (or become) girls in order to appeal to a largely male fanbase. One of them is aimed more towards men, the other towards girls however. There is a lot more dark humour in Gokudolls and it is a lot more violent too, but the comedy is quite similar from the perspective of the three main characters.

Both animes should feature protagonists who are cheerful and upbeat however behind the scenes is the same dark comedy/depressing humor.
