Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e

On the surface, Koudo Ikusei Senior High School is a utopia. The students enjoy an unparalleled amount of freedom, and it is ranked highly in Japan. However, the reality is less than ideal. Four classes, A through D, are ranked in order of merit, and only the top classes receive favorable treatment.

Kiyotaka Ayanokouji is a student of Class D, where the school dumps its worst. There he meets the unsociable Suzune Horikita, who believes she was placed in Class D by mistake and desires to climb all the way to Class A, and the seemingly amicable class idol Kikyou Kushida, whose aim is to make as many friends as possible.

While class membership is permanent, class rankings are not; students in lower ranked classes can rise in rankings if they score better than those in the top ones. Additionally, in Class D, there are no bars on what methods can be used to get ahead. In this cutthroat school, can they prevail against the odds and reach the top?

I watched this anime in an attempt of trying to get out of the not watching anime phase now I can’t say if I’m out of that phase but I was definitely able to binge it and with that said it is a good anime it explores something very interesting concepts and ayanokoji is a very interesting character the ending really gets touched for what is going to happen next as for the animation it’s fine puts me off at times especially kushida i hate her as of now but I think there will be more to explore about her character but for now 7.6/10 ... as interesting as it is it is really nothing to crazy but still a worthy watch I have very high expectations for the next season

Mixed Feelings

I have to start with this one point because it is really important. It addresses how the average viewer views this show in contrast to what it actually is.

The irony of Classroom of the Elite is that it attracts the very fanbase that the story makes fun of. Most people are obsessed with how "sigma" Ayanokoji is. However, that is probably what the author was trying to criticize if you think about it for a few seconds. A very prestigious school which in a lot of ways is similar to "the real world." People at the top get the butter, the others suffer. This results ... in a system where people are cutthroat, unempathetic and downright cruel to each other. It is a broken system that encourages psychopathy. In a broader sense, this is a criticism of society as a whole which rewards downright psychopathic and cruel behavior. A society where being broken means you are valued more.

So in a way, the creators of Ayanokoji sigma edit #53 are proving the author right. They prove that society's ideal person is a skilled psychopath.

As for the anime itself: Classroom of the Elite is sort of similar to Death Note. It's about the students trying to outsmart the other classes. However, that's usually not satisfying enough. The arcs last for quite a bit of time and while the payoff is good, it's not worth the time invested. The strategies and their reveals are too few and far in between. A few characters are okay, the rest are too shallow.

Ayanokoji is the interesting character which makes sense. There are a lot of side characters so obviously the one that gets the most care would be the protagonist. The story is also viewed solely from his perspective. He gets developed the most and it's done in an interesting way. This season is probably the least interesting, but it has a really strong ending.

Overall, it's hard to say that Classroom of the Elite is anything above "good" or "okay". However, the concept is novel and the theme is good. Sadly, the characters and the backbone of the show (strategy and mystery) could be done a lot better. I personally like it, but it's a tossup.

the MC's character development is just awful. guy does smirk for 3 seasons and doesn't give a damn about anyone. i mean this had to change at some point in his supposed character development. events are few overall.and they are mostly awful and full of fan service. the art is great. but it doesn't salvage the anime as a whole. the show itself is boring. the only good moments are the MC's checkmate moments where his plans fall into place. but that is approximately 3 times in 3 seasons . boring indeed. could've been one of the greats if it was executed properly. ... wouldn't recommend.
