Both have mc dealing with a lot of people, each having it's own story that can sometimes be quite dark and dramatic.

both trippy anime about a person diving into a different world that directly effects the real world and trying to save the people related to the respective "cases" (or witches in 18if)

Both 18if and Paprika are trippy looks into dreams. If you liked the insane logic of one, you'll most likely like the other.

In both shows the mc stops "witches/mononoke" to keep those creatures from killing anyone. Also they get close to the creatures, finds their vulnerabilities, and sets them free.

I'm actually impressed no one made that recommendation yet. 18if and Bakemonogatari are both divided into arcs, each one following the same pattern : the male protagonist stumbles upon a female character who, because she is confronted to real-life problems, faces supernatural phenomenons. The protagonist then saves said character, helped by a specialist of these phenomenons (in the person of Lily/Meme Oshino). Friendship ensues. Also, both have particular art styles that make them stand out (that's especially true for Bakemonogatari). The protagonists have pretty much the same personality, same goes for the researcher of 18if and Oshino, and both are mystery/comedy/romance/occult anime.

They are pretty much the same: - main character is related to/in a strange world and must fight witch-like persons, who are only in this other world, because they're desperate or sad in the real world - both seem pretty normal or soft at first, but they definitely aren't

•In both anime there are witches that create and then live in their special environments. •Both series are pretty gory and mature at times. •Both anime feature young girls in serious situations that might affect the real world. •Both series have interesting art styles.

The ep 3 of 18if reminds me alot the plastic memories final. I cryed like as in Plastic Memories.

It has the same "dream" feeling to it. Be it the animation or the story, the "dream" feeling is quite similar

Male protag deals with a series of female characters' emotional problems and charms his way into their hearts to prevent disaster. There, that's the shared plot in a nutshell. Differences: Keima was actively scouted for this job and has grinded to develop his skillset but Haruto unexpectedly and unwillingly ends up in the role without any choice. Keima's generally in a more informed position than his female "targets" (for lack of a better term) but Haruto is often more clueless than the witches he engages with. Both stories have strong emotional themes and end in an unexpected showdown that involves emotion but 18if blew their entire  read more

The same exactly concept: Solving young girls` problems in dreamworld. Both heavily use grotesque and surreal colorful artstile to picture the dreams and have distinguished arcs dedicated to one girl each. The only notable difference so far, is that 18if has a male MC.

The characters explore dreamscapes that represent various emotional states. The dreams range from the mundane or cartoonish to the emotional or horrifying, giving the shows a wide breadth of art styles.

- Episodic - The MC digs around the character of the week wherein 18if, the MC tries to save her from the dream world, Warau salesman tries to make them have a deal with the devil - supernatural elements. 18if has the dreamworld and warau has his magical items. Both of them bring out their real character

Dreams. Ghosts. Life. Death. Secrets. Emotions. Mysteries. Unknowns. You dig those things? Yea? You'll like both shows. Both stories are delivered in ways that are not very straightforward or easily digestible. They make you think and wonder about lacunae and plot holes in the story. Shinreigari has more cryptic theories it draws on from real life while 18if is more emotionally oriented and analyzes emotions theoretically in the context of how the dream world works. Shinreigari has a more spooky and creepy atmosphere that can actually unsettle you, given the right environment. 18if has visuals that might sometimes make you want to hurl or cry  read more

Life, Death; Dream, Reality; Man, Woman; Human, Other, such are the contrasts both shows battle with. They're both pretty episodic until the final arc and have important "life lessons" if you want to call them that. We have a cast of main characters that stay constant throughout and whom we can develop an attachment with so that the final arc feels relevant and many unique minor characters that mostly disappear after their arc is done. Right off the bat, there are strongly moralistic aspects to both shows' storylines and they both deal with those aspects in their own ways. This happens in somewhat expected ways for Shigofumi  read more

Prettyboy MC with brown hair and max rizz works together with a guy who's obsessed with his sister. The one in 18if is more subtle about it and he's a cat for most of the show. The one in Zetsuen is metaphorically an ill-tempered tabbycat. Both shows have magic, drama, unexpected twists and turns. Stuff gets complicated and blows waaayyyy out of proportion at the end. Unexpected religious angles show up out of nowhere (not incongruous though). There's a fair bit of CGI and special effects in Zetsuen... but 18if blows the budget on one big epic episode and unique ending songs that fit the mood  read more
