The influence of Studio Gibli works particularly "Kiki's Delivery Service" on "Mary and the Witch's Flower" is quite evident, yet the latter is not a Studio Gibli piece, but the movie has it's own twists one won't find in a Studio Gibli work.

Both anime revolve around young girls with magic powers that visit a witch school. The character interactions and overall tone of the stories feel similar and both are very heartwarming. Both remind me of a shoujo version of Harry Potter. If you were wondering what it would be like if Mary enrolled at and stayed in the witching academy, you will love Little Witch Academia.

A little girl, exploring a new world full of magic and strange creatures (fighting an evil old lady). The main idea is quite similar in both movies but that's not all, the art and animation is incredibly similar. There is this strange feel when the magic effects are somehow organic and just watching them is oddly satisfying.

Mary and the Witch's Flower share the same magical quality beloved in many Hayao Miyazaki directed movies. Like Howl's Moving Castle, the movie follows a young girl who has a surprising encounter with magic that changes their lives. Both movies are great family-friendly movies with beautiful animation that are the perfect introduction to anime for Pixar fans.

Both protagonists are witches who go to a magical school and ride broomsticks.

They're both witchy/Hary Potter-like anime movies that don't take place in japan

Both involve going to school to study magic.

Basicly follows the same background story, but it much more developed. Since Studio Ponoc was founded by Studio Ghibli's former workers, the animation follows the same philosophy, also the same source of inspiration from many stories written for children by british authors about sorcery and other supernatural creatures. The only downside is that like all other movies from Ghibli, this one ends too.

Mary and the Witch's Flower shares many similar elements as Castle in the Sky. It has beautiful animation and character designs due to the involvement of Studio Ghibli veterans. It is a family-friendly adventure movie centered on a conflict over an item that can cause great harm in the wrong hands. Its storyline emphasizes character growth over character development. Mary and the Witch's Flower is sure to become a classic movie like Castle in the Sky.

Steamboy and Mary and the Witch's Flower share a similar premise, but have different genres and moods. The protagonists come to possess an item of great and dangerous power that is desired by the antagonists. The storylines also include intrigue and family secrets. You will likely not be surprised by the plot twist, but this should not stop you from enjoying the adventure. Both movies deserve more recognition for their efforts.

Tweeny Witches and Mary and the Witch's Flower share a similar premise - a human girl stumble into a magical world where she learns family secrets and thwarts the plan of some bad guys. Tweeny Witches has many production problems that are hard to overlook, but it has interesting artwork and an ambitious story. Mary and the Witch's Flower has beautiful animation, character designs, and a fairy tale comparable to Ghibli movies. If you enjoyed Tweeny Witches then you will undoubtedly enjoy Mary and the Witch's Flower.

When it comes to magic, anime have invented and perfected the archetype of the magical girl. It is always refreshing to watch an anime about witches rather than magical girls. Mary and the Witch's Flower has beautiful animation, character designs, and a fairy tale that are comparable to the Ghibli canon. Magical Sisters Yoyo & Nene has an equally engaging story with quality animation. As all-ages movies, you should expect easy to understand themes and family friendly entertainment.

It is a must be seen just for being movies from studio ghibli. To start with both movies have as protagonists childrens who just moved to a new home in a rural place. One day while the children is playing around the house they see a strange creature that leads them to a new adventure. As any ghibli movie the adventure that awaits them is the hertwarming and magical type.
