Same director, based on books by the same author, set in the same universe, with many of the same characters. Yojouhan should probably be watched first.

Very surreal, colorful, mind messed up storylines. Both female protagonists jump through worlds and phases and meet and witness all kind of strange things.

The central theme of fate is present in both works. Apples are representative of something highly symbolic. Both works are very stylistic in their own individual way. Minor presence of romance in both works, more focus on how all the characters connect together.

Don't get me wrong, the titles are actually pretty different but there are definitely some things, which both of them share. The main one: they're all about pursuit of love shown in a nonstop breathtaking action. These movies are also pretty unique themselves and every new shot grabs you stronger and deeper into the story. "Night Is Short" is an amazing comedy and "Millennium Actress" is a great drama, so they complement each other very well!

The Night Is Short, Walk On Girl, and Bakemonogatari are not even remotely similar in terms of storyline or theme. However, for me, the things I love about Monogatari the most are not how the cynical main character saves girl-of-the-week from her supernatural crisis, but rather the witty, dense Tarantino-esque dialogue, the distinct and three-dimensional characters, the fantastic usage of sound and music, the borrowings from things like the French New Wave, and the incredible and unique visuals, with its beautiful colors and blending of real-life and animation. Those elements are precisely where The Night Is Short, Walk On Girl—and the related Tatami Galaxy—shine the  read more

The surreal trip both cat brothers have reminded me heavily of Senpai's voyage looking for Otome. Masaaki Yuasa worked in both anime too.

Both are romantic comedy animations starring a young couple in which the boy is aware of the madness that surrounds him and has his humor built on that aspect, while the girl is always chill and although also initially strange to the absurd content of that universe, calmly dives into said bizarre events and even ends up participating in them.

Sure Silent voice will make you cry (some people) but I think Night Is Short, Walk on Girl is much better then Silent voice. OST: Silent voice < Night Is Short, Walk on Girl Character : Silent voice < Night Is Short, Walk on Girl Art : Silent Voice = Night Is Short, Walk on Girl I think most people can relate to both movie but I personally I related more to Night Is Short, Walk on Girl then silent voice

An important cast with characters that are all connected to each other. A dynamic atmosphere alternating between drama and comedy. Both series contain romance that is built progressively.

Both are works from the same author and both are dialogue heavy anime filled with cultural references, that carry a vibrant atmosphere with a similar narration style. If you like one than without a doubt you’ll like the other.

Untraditional romance movies of guy trying to get attention of a desired girl. Both includes surreal situations and wacky escapades with well executed experimental animation to go with it. Also the movies have same director.

In addition to his relationship with director Masaaki Yuasa, through the Science SARU studio, it focuses on the theme of "love" under a surreal and exploratory environment.

Both titles share surreal imagery, high amount of seemingly nonsensical plot which finally appear to be meaningful symbolism, excellent music and visuals and a great romance.
