Tetsuo and Kobayashi lead ordinary lives until their chance encounter with supernatural beings thrust them into exciting situations filled with many laughter, adorable moments, and heartwarming scenes. While Demi-chan focuses on Tetsuo and his desire to learn more about the monster girls, Dragon Maid chronicles the life of the dragons as they attempt to understand Kobayashi and humanity itself. Although Demi-chan and Dragon Maid are lighthearted series, their powerful message about society leave something to think about.

Monster Musume is the much more... lewd take on the concept- people or demi-humans trying to find a place in our world (or japan at least). They both showcase a little of what it's like for these girls, living in a world that isn't quite made for them.

All the myth-busting that's being done is really similar. Species that look like monsters to us arent really monsters and are the same living beings with the same worries and problems as us. Just by reading synopsis for both animes you will find them really similar. Both Slice of lifes and slow-paced.
report Recommended by Hirugiku
Both series have a laid-back, comfy, and slice of life approach to tackling the supernatural, focusing more on cultural differences and the quirks of being not-fully human.

I did not expect both of these shows to be so funny, peaceful and smart, considering initial silly setups. These shows has only one or two slip-ups, but they hold up very, very well. I like how Demi-chan walks on the edge of teacher-student relationship without falling. Hopes up for season 2. Meanwhile, Barakamon is very similar to Demi-chan, but without magic. Somehow brings internal peace about things that are going on in the show.

-Both of anime are showing girls/lolis as main characters and doing cute things -Both of characters in anime are mostly known as non-human, in Gabriel there are devils and angels, and in Demi-chan is usually half monsters -Both of anime have setting in school life -Both of anime have light story and plots, so it's easy to enjoy them especially for people who looking for relaxing anime

Main heroine is a vampire Both has weird monster girls Both are set in high school Both are centered on sol

These anime, while varying in tone and style of humor, are similar in one core respect that I believe makes a recommendation appropriate. At their most basic levels, these shows revolve around a human man interacting with non-human girls in a school setting, and all the challenges and hilarity that comes with that. In Seton, we follow a human student interacting with various animal girls. And in Demi-chan we follow a human teacher teaching and learning about monster-girl students. While Seton is a more comedic show and Demi-chan is more strictly slice of life/coming of age story, both carry a similar undeniable charm because of the  read more

Both have a teacher who helps students with their problems, in GTO the problems are more serious, with an adult story, and demi-chan has more "kawai" characters. Besides, they both have comedy too.
report Recommended by xOkazakix
The premise of both is about finding out the particular characteristics of demi-humans in a diverse world where every being from various races coexist, albeit in a different way.
report Recommended by Frobbly
Both feature a Demi obsessed(Demi-chan) or a twintail obsessed (Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu) main protaginist.

Both anime focuses on social issues regarding minorities. Demi-chan wa Kataritai was set in a hypothetical universe with vampire, dullahan, snow girl, and succubus. Each Demi has their issues and struggles. Hourou Musuko was set in a world similar to reallife Japan focusing on LGBTQ, specifically, transgender and nonbinary communities. Demi-chan wa Kataritai was lighthearted with some serious discussions or hints of such scattered throughout the anime. Most importantly, Demi in Demi-chan wa Kataritai was supported by the protagonist Sensei and the society. Compared to Demi-chan wa Kataritai, Hourou Musuko was much more depressing. Most things in the story didn't go the right track, yet the characters  read more

Both take place in high schools and feature mythological/supernatural characters alongside humans. "Interviews with Monster Girls" features vampires, dullahans, snowwomen (or Yuki-onna) and succubui, while "Manaria Friends" features dragons. They differ in that "Interview with Monster Girls" takes place in modern Japan but it just so happens to have these supernatural beings, while "Manaria Friends" is in a different world all together and human characters have the potential to learn magic.

They have the same vibes but just in sport version - they both have monster girls - cute designs - older person that helps them alot - good comedy - feel good feeling
report Recommended by Kqver
They both pseudo-harem anime with three little girls and a mature girl around MC They both have a very responsible and considerate MC helping out the girls They both focus on the predicament of the characters in everyday life, but in a very heartwarming manner

I’m surprised this has not been recommended yet. Although these anime might seem vastly different, both are essentially about girls coping with disabilities and trying to fit in society. While A Silent Voice is much more explicit in this regard, it’s still quite prevalent in Interviews With Monster Girls.

Both have a protogonist who solves other people's problems, issues, and difficulties. Both protogonists are older than the people they help. Both have a protogonist who is interested in biology. They also both have a so-called harem, but not really a harem.

if you liked Monster Musume no Oishasan then Demi-chan wa Kataritai is a must watch for you . similarities : almost the same theme - Monsters girls - one guy surrounded by lots of Monsters girls etc...

slice of life & comedy! the two things you do not own. these shows will get you some of that but headsup! they will never cure your depression! just make it bit more tolerable :) hope ya have 𝓕𝓾𝓝 anyways!

both are very wholesome, comedic at times, and really all in all fun. the art & story don't matter really. hope ya have 𝓕𝓤𝓝 anyways!

Both animes have this low tone comedy and focus on the struggles of dealing with day to day problems of living in modern society. ReLIFE is a bit more serious in places, but over all both of them carry positive tones and share heartwarming moments.
report Recommended by Lomeo
in both of anime there is person who take care of one or more child or high school person and both of them have cute character and somemhow this is comdey anime .

-Both have 3 main characters that are similar -Both are school, comedy, and fantasy genres As long as I watched, I felt a lot of similarities. The story is light, but with a quite satisfying ending. This also applies if you like Demi-chan, then I suggest you to watch LWA too.

One significant similarity between the 2 shows are that yokai and other mythical creatures are existing in the present modern world and living normal life. "Demi-chan wa Kataritai" shows how one teacher is interested in other non-human/yokai people and wants to know more about them in school. This show focuses on comedy rather than romance.
report Recommended by zekromvijay
Both relaxing shows that put you in a good mood because of the comedy and characters.
report Recommended by RagonWest
Pretty much the same older man to loli relationship, except one was more of slice of life, while the other is more on sci-fi considering that the loli there is a science lab experiment who got away, while in the other one, the lolis there where more like interview subjects.
report Recommended by Whoahoho
Half humans trying to live normally that are brought together by one person who cares for their well-being. The main theme in Demi-chan wa Kataritai is friendship while the main theme in Shiyan Pin Jiating is family. Both are cute and heart-warming shows.
report Recommended by HollowDoll
Both series take a slice of life approach to the supernatural, taking an everyday approach to the fantastical, although Demi-chan is more outwardly comedic in its tone while Flying Witch is slowcore iyashikei.
report Recommended by RiverSorcerer
Both series take a fantastical slice of life approach to their respective genres (the school comedy for Demi-chan, the isekai narrative in Shokudou) and give the viewers a wide range of interesting and diverse characters to enjoy and relate to, complete with a human male protagonist that the fantastical characters look up to and respect.
report Recommended by RiverSorcerer
Both are school comedies about Monster girls, and the main girl for each show is a vampire! Rosario tends to be more dramatic, where as Interview with Monster Girls is more slice of life.
report Recommended by Kiira_chan
Both shows are about "supernatural" beings trying to live in human society and the troubles they encounter, which seem to be a metaphor for racism, ableism and other isms. They are similar in tone - heartwarming with some romance and comedy.
report Recommended by flannan
Both have similar themes with the MC dealing with Yokai although in Demi-chan we only see few of them.
report Recommended by MJSpice
Yes i know k-on has no supernatural. Both shows have a group of cute girls doing mundane things, yet at the same time they both deal with personal hardships and undergo character development. They both have a sensei mentor that helps them. They're both irresistibly cute. Both shows are about personal growth. They're not particularly plot heavy, yet have a continuous narrative that shows how much the characters have changed.
report Recommended by Bors_137
Cute little non-human girls, great comedy elements, warm slice of life vibes. Both series are soothing, funny, heartwarming and mostly: CUTE.
report Recommended by Lopika
Both series have comedic approaches to their wide variety of supernatural creatures interacting with the modern world, although Jashin-chan is more madcap, adult, and sometimes sadistic compared to the school-bound Demi-chan.
report Recommended by RiverSorcerer
- The residence of the figures are not inhabited by humans alone, there are also stealth - Compatibility between humans and demons was well established
report Recommended by MisakiOji
Both animes have a male protagonist who is older than the typical young/boy male protagonist. Both male protagonists have the same japanese voice actor. Both animes have a romance/harem vibe even though it is not one of the listed genres. Very unique and likeable girls characters. Both have good amounts of comedy.

Ajin and Demi-chan are both about the rise of ajin in the modern world and how they are delt with. Ajin however, is much more serious.

Hanging out at a school. Nothing really supernatural in GJ, but lots of strangeness. Demi-chan has lots of both. Both focus on a male character and a cast of female characters, in GJ the boy is a freshmen, in Demi he's a teacher. Romance isn't really the focus of either show, but there are hints of plot lines that don't get developed so much as revisited every so often. There's more self discovery in Demi, more slice of life in GJ. I liked both for their extremely relaxing atmosphere and the occasional hysterically funny scenes.
report Recommended by phikus
They don't really have anything similar in theme, plot or characters but they both have this comfy feel with occasional laughs If you liked Hotaru you will like Hikari and vice versa while Dagashi kashi is more about the jokes and wacky situations the characters find themselves in Demi is more about the relationships and how they grow during the wacky situations
report Recommended by VanVeleca
- schools based although Demi-chan has demi-humans and is not magic based its set in an ordinary school that has started accepting demi-humans - cute girl cast, that care for the male main protagonist and each has their own issues - fantasy Based with mixed with comedy althought Demi-chan is more comidy set in a slightly fantasy world

Monsters/creatures from folklore around the world living between normal humans in humanoid forms. In demi chan, you see the "half" creatures of these popular stories - consequence from the union of a normal human and a mystic creature. In the series there are all "monster girls" if unique issues that they have to cope with to blend with society. The protagonist of both shows follow and of the characters mystic ordeals.
