Both are animated series based on their visual novel esque games. Both feature court cases where people argue and debate over a case, usually a murder. Both have fast pacing and go theough their material quickly, and people who like one are very likely to like the other IMO. Danganronpa stars a group of school kids while Gyakuten Saiban stars more adults.

It really reminds me alot of Detective Conan Anime. Especially in solving thoes Cases. The most cases get solved by a Detective (in Detective Conan) and here in "Gyakuten Saiban" the cases get solved by an attorney.

Both are based on notable video game series as well as both featuring finding out the circumstances to the situation and also both have its share of over the top humor as well too.

After the first episode of "Kabukichou Sherlock" I looked if "Ace Attorney" maybe had the same director or if both were adaptations of the same kind of game or something else like that, because they seemed so simular. I couldn't find anything but watching more episodes they seemed even more simular. Both have interesting mystery cases with an overall story, starting of throwing a newby in. The characters and their deisgn are rather mature and there is the same kind of humor with silly names, gay characters, etc... At times both seemed to be made with a female audience in mind.

Both are based on similar games (in fact, there was even a crossover game for the 3DS). Both are best enjoyed with previous knowledge of the main series, but can act as the entry point for their franchises. The Layton movie is definitely better as a stand-alone anime product, but fans of the originals will really appreciate seeing these characters in full anime. Some of the similarities between series are as follows: -Main character being very good at solving mysteries. -Co-protagonist for both series being a younger kid/teen who admires the protagonist in some way, and who follows them literally everywhere. -Plots based on mysteries (I think it was  read more

The duels in Yugioh are played up as dramatically as the cases in Ace Attorney. Over the top personalities, the screaming when the opponent beats your best move, and the fact they're depictions are completely inaccurate to what the represent (The TCG for Yugioh and Actual Law/Trials for Ace Attorney)

While Kindaichi is about a detective and Gyakuten Saiban is about an attorney; in both anime the young main characters investigate murder cases and serve justice (Naruhodou from Gyakuten Saiban does plenty of investigation as well and his clients are innocent so he always tries to find the real killer). Both have quite some comedy in it and are not extremely realistic; for example Kindaichi Shounen has high school students as detectives.

Both have strange young girls with supernatural powers to them and a focus on why the bad guy must be punsihed and what is the motive to it as well too and both also have a weird yet very hilarious sense of humor as well too.
