Both shows take place during the early 1900s and show the seedy undercurrent of society during that era. Containing similar art direction, color palettes, and sound mixing, these titles feel like they share the same universe. Taku Kishimoto is also credited for his Series Composition contributions on both titles as well. They're titles that gravitate away from the usual anime trappings, taking more influence from the world of cinema instead. If you enjoy the tone and atmosphere of one, there's a high chance you'll like the other.

If you like Baccano! you will like Joker game for sure!! First they are in the same era, second both have similar soundtracks, also they both adapted from novel. When watching Joker game you will defiantly remember Baccano! not just for these facts!! They both gives off the same air, the tension, also you can't guess what will happen next!! thats what makes both series similar and amazing!

Elegant smart man do elegant smart shady things. Both don't have much of a backstory and don't really focus on character development, so you get to see what characters do, guess what they feel (if you want) and enjoy how perfectly they deliver justice.

Episodic shows about cool looking men being cool and doing cool things, with lots of action orientated mystery-solving. Both are historical shows, with Onihei focusing on the Edo period and Joker Game on Taishou and Shouwa periods. Also unexpectedly nice jazz scores.

Seeing that no one made this very obvious connection before me, thought I might chip in. Both Joker Game and Spy x Family are shows about espionage. Joker Game has a WWII theme into it, as it portrays Japanese spies and counter-spies doing their work both against the Allies and Germans during the 1940s. Spy x Family takes place in a fictional East Germany of the 1960s where a West German spy has to form a fake family in order to infiltrate a ruling-elite circle. Both shows portray a lot of realistic espionage themes in it, not shying away of exposing this dirty world to the masses. I  read more

both are set in the imperial japan of early 1900s, and centered around a secret military organization who specializes in espionage and crime investigations.

Both are episodic thrillers with a well researched take on their specific historical time periods. They also both deal with casualties of war, with Joker Game focusing on WW2 and Young Black Jack having an arc on the Vietnam War. The concept of who is right and who is wrong is often in the grey area in these two series. So if you enjoyed these aspects of Joker Game, you should check out YBJ, though a prequel series to a long franchise, you can still start from here without prior knowledge of the Black Jack franchise or character.

Even with just watching the first episode of joker game I can tell there are similarities between the two. They are both psychological and have a mysteriousness to them. The art is also somewhat similar.

Both are set in a world of political strife and mystery. The characters are clever and vigilant. The art style is also similar, catering to a more mature audience, and the overall atmosphere surrounding these series is riddled with tension and secrecy.
