Ookiku Furikabutte

Oofuri and Haikyuu both have main characters who have unique abilities that can surprise opponents despite their silly and weak appearances. There's also a bond between the two teammates that develops overtime through compromise and overcoming each other's strengths & weakness. (Like Mihashi & Abe's battery, and Hinata & Kageyama's Setter and Spiker teamplay) If you enjoy a light hearted sports anime then you'll love both of these! 

Both are realistic anime based on baseball. Both feature exciting scenes, an unpredictable plot and excellent comedy. As for differences, DnA has a much stronger shounen element to it, with a huge and yet amazing cast, great music and an impressive number of scenes that really get the viewer fired up, while Oofuri is more technical, unique and original, and all in all has a very realistic feel to it.  

Besides the obvious sport difference, both have perceptively weak but strongly skilled main characters (Kuroko and Mihashi), both have female managers(Aida & Momoe), teammates that aspire to be the best in Japan, and a lot of comedic moments! 

Both deal with baseball and character development in a slice-of-life kind of way, though Cross Game has an added romantic plot and Ookiku is more techinical driven. 

This is also a sports anime, that has an ace player that seems to fear the world, while working to overcome it all and become what everyone else already sees in him. While I would love to say, there are obvious undertones, there aren't really, BUT, as with any fandom that has a mostly male cast, there's plenty of personal undertones to be drawn.  

Baseball's the most popular sport in Japan, so it's no mystery to see several baseball anime/manga making their way around~ Oofuri is a lot more fluffy than Battery, as the main in Battery is abused by his team mates, and is constantly told that he's not good enough. Oofuri has nearly all the characters telling him that he can do it.  

Okay, the only real similarity is that they're both about pitchers in baseball. Honda (Major) is the very antithesis of Mihashi (Oofuri), but if you like baseball -- or sports animes in general -- they are both good/great shows in their own way. 

Both the main characters from Ookiku Furikabutte and Kimi ni Todoke are high schoolers that appear as outcasts from their classmates. They first show up as shy and sensitive individuals, but with the help of a close knit of friends, both characters begin to develop and mature into more confident individuals. Both animes do a great job at showing the character development and character interaction. Difference wise, Ookiku is a sports anime centered heavily around shounen baseball. Kimi is a lighter, shoujo romance comedy centered around relationships. 

The most common rec for Kazetsuyo seems to be Haikyuu but despite their shared studio and many creative staff, most similarities are superficial. At its core, Kazetsuyo is a character study through sports and the only other such anime, in my opinion, is Oofuri. Although one is about college students (age ranging from 19 to 25) doing long-distance running and the other about high school baseball, the 2 are similarly dedicated in their characterisation. All characters and their interpersonal relationships are written exceptionally well, resulting in a cast of multi-dimensional and relatable characters. While sport is used as an instrument of storytelling and characterisation, it's not taken lightly either. Both explain the technical aspects necessary to appreciate the sport without being overwhelming. Oofuri, in particular, provides a lot of detail about baseball. There's also a distinct lack of 'hype' in both anime. That is to say, neither the story nor its presentation contrive to induce tension as sports series (especially shounen) often do. Rather, it naturally develops so that the viewer experiences a much more realistic sense of anticipation and excitement. Lastly, both are wonderfully motivational. This may be true for most anime of the genre, but Kazetsuyo and Oofuri are somewhat unique in the grounded way they encourage and inspire at a personal level. (Which, once again, comes down to their excellent characterisation.) I hope more people watch these 2 fantastic anime, as they're quite underrated.  read more 

Still can't get enough of unique characters, a sport anime that requires team work and strategy ? Ookiku Furikabutte is a baseball based anime that will grab your heart. 

Both about team sports and close friendship, where the plot revolves mostly around characters than plot. Cute feelings and both anime are quite happy and enjoyable, with little touching moments. 

They both talk about psychology disorders in sports. Hoshiahi no Sora is using that just for drama, as it seems, but if you liked the 1st part of it, you should totally give Oofuri a chance (and not the opposite way, though :(). Oofuri is more of a coming of age psychological anime that shows it through baseball. It's not just a subplot like in Hoshiai no Sora, but one of the main ideas. Basically, Oofuri is what Hoshiai no Sora could've been, but isn't. 

It has the same realistic sport without any special moves, and the person(babysteps)/team(ookiku) on the anime is good not because some illogical elements. And its start from zero.  

Both are baseball anime that focus on the relationship of the battery. Also main character having issues with being accepted by others. If you have seen one, it's highly likely that you'll like the other as well. 

Both are sports anime, they both have a sense of teamwork and they both start off horribly but then rise to be known as a better team 

The atmosphere of Chihayafuru reminded me of Ookiku Furikabutte. In essence, they are quite different since one is about Karuta and the other is about Baseball but the drive of the characters and the in depth analysis of the sport makes both series similar and equally enjoyable. 

Similar feeling to the flow of the story, similar plot in the sense of strange individuals looking for friends without knowing it 

While the sports themselves couldn't be more different, Oofuri and YoI both feature a protagonist who struggles with anxiety and low self-esteem despite his talent. Their character arcs are about dealing with their anxiety, gaining confidence, and finding support in the people around them. Not only do these shows handle mental illness really well, they also feature healthy, supportive, and positive relationships between the characters - although YoI has overt romance while Oofuri does not. 

Oofuri is a sports Anime... It's about Baseball.. While Prince ot Tennis, like the name tells us all, is about Tennis. And as real Prince of Tennis fan I can say that the sense of humor (and especially the gay moments..) in both series are very similiar, sometimes even the same. Ookiku Furikabutte offers lots and lots of awesome characters who develope their personalities over the series and who you learn to love and hate, and so does the Prince of Tennis. In any case, it's both worth watching it! 

Both have a good character development. Both anime play emphasis on bond shared by MC and other team members. Both have timid MCs. Both MC started as weak but as the series progresses they gain confidence and through their hard work surprises everyone. Both are looking for an objective in the start.  

Baseball pitchers. Both pitchers seem harmless at first, nothing special. Slow pitch. But their pitching accuracy and talent soon make people change their minds about these pitchers.  

they are both about baseball!!! ookiku furikabutte is a great anime show!! ENJOY!!!  

All I can really say is their both baseball animes. So, if you like the sport or just sports animes, Oofuri might be what you're looking for! 

even though its comparing BASEBALL & SOCCER,they are both similar because mihashi and kakeru are not CONFIDENT,but they both posess "skill" some of their teammates have the same persnalities,both touching stories,their both after the same thing............i know thier not exactly to the point similar ,but i think if you enjoy area no kishi "knight in the area",you will also realy enjoy watching ookiku Furikabutte"the big wingup" :) 

Both are sports animes that have fun characters. Deal a lot with friendship and relationships between characters.  

"Sport is amazing." You will get the feling when you watching these two shows.. When many of sport anime/mangas still using shounen approach when a main character will win unrealistically after got owned one second before, these two anime/mangas using realistic but entertaining ( much more entertaining for me ) way to win a sport match.. Not to forget, realistic character developments are at best in these shows.. 

-Both of these shows are baseball anime -The main characters have a strong sense of responsibility, and wanting to lead their teammates to victory -The battery between the pitcher and the catcher are detrimental to the success of the team  

A newly formed sports team and coach. Both anime feel "realistic" and do not rely amazing plays (the kind you see professionals do). And the scores are realistic (Yes, they lose points).They use tactics, and the strategies are explained in a way that don't bore you. These two anime make you want more! 

The main character in both are quite self critical, but eventually realize through hardship and friendship that they are unique in their own way, in Hitman Reborn although he's less timid but he still ends up getting scared and beaten up (in a funny way) quite frequently similar to Mihashi  

Both Daiya no Ace and Oofuri are baseball anime, focusing on first year high school pitchers settling into their new high school teams and improving their plays. Both anime focus on the protagonist's character growth and change as they pitch more in matches. Both anime also spend time to develop the growth of the ensemble of the protagonist's teammates. Though both are relatively realistic in depicting high school sports, Oofuri is slightly less hyperbolic than Daiya no Ace. 

The main character is a socially anxious boy with low self-esteem that meets another boy who sees the potential in him to do something great in their respective passion (fishing in Tsuritama and baseball in Ookiku Furikabutte), and throughout the series, the main character eventually comes out of his shell. Both of these sports/comedy/slice of life series are from A-1 Pictures, have occasional humor, portray empathetic and gentle male characters, and show how people thrive on and grow from social bonds such as close friendships. 

Cute teenage boys doing awkward but cute things. Both are quite slow-paced, colours are of a pale palette and have matching acoustic music. Similar characters: Tajima / Chizuru, Abe(and Hanai) / Kaname, Mihashi / Shun. 

The main Character in both animes is clumsy and under confident. They both think that their not good at anything. 

Both anime revolve around the pitcher. 'Ookiku Furikabutte' follows a hard working kid with no talent, and 'Touch' follows a kid with major talent but no work ethic (at first anyway). 

these two are the same becauae it talks about baseball and the main characters are both pitchers their "ladies" are their child hood friend and they have friends cheering them on and its about some insane love and passion for baseball. 

Both are sports anime that involves having 2 characters trying to accomplish to reach their goal to be one of the best and hard-working sports player. Trying to pursue a career for both takes a lot of patience for both main characters in each anime, so definitely both animes are very magnifying to see each characters trying to attain their goal. 

Here's another one where the main character is not the best in his team. The only difference is that one is damn arrogant and the other is damn whimppy 

It's very general sort of similarity, but they're both baseball animes. ;) And if you like baseball animes, you should watch Oofuri! 

It's all about baseball too and the players are also teenagers like in Big Windup but the difference is that the players are girls. 

Both series showcases children with big dreams with sports. Teamwork, leadership and a strong bond between the rivals and teammates are seen in both. Even though we see a lot of differences in terms of realism, since Inazuma Eleven IS under a super power genre, both has a lot thing in common. (Watch especially if you have a tendency to ship/slash these adorable guys due to their 'bond' and 'relationship') 

Both animes deal with athletes with potential who end up leaving one school system to join another because they feel like their not good enough to stay and their journey to build their confidence and hone their skills in a new environment. Whistle is about middle school soccer and Oofuri is high school baseball, but their elements of team play, effort vs. talent, etc. in both. 

Both are about baseball and about life. The sport is more of like a medium and the main focus is character development, although big wind up is a bit more detailed on the sport. 

Believe me, the massive differences between the two series subject matter (Ookiku: Baseball, Kaiji: Extreme gambling) and characters (Ookiku: High-school boys, Kaiji: Mature gamblers and typical seedy fair) are not lost upon me. That being said, I couldn't help but think of Kaiji while watching the way Ookiku's games unfold. Both series do a fantastic job of making their subject matter become interesting and dramatic without feeling forced or unbelievable. Both cause you to watch each and every second while feeling totally engrossed, nearly forcing one to cheer when the protagonist(s) succeed(s), and despair when they falter. This recommendation isn't for everyone, but if you preferred the way either series approached their subject matter, than the other will be unlikely to disappoint.  read more 

Both are great baseball anime with the main focus around the battery. You can get really attached to the characters. So if you have enjoyed Ookiku you will probably like Mix as well. 

Believe it or not both series are quite similar in the beginning in terms of how main character acts and feels. In both series the main character at the start of the anime is looked down upon and they were bullied in the past which makes them bit awkward, yet adorable in a sense. After that there is character development in which they gain self confidence. For me it's one of the reasons I like both of these series very much and you might, too!  

Both heartwarming anime with baseball in it. Altough Gin no Saji has baseball as a side story. These two share a similar feel so if you liked one you could give another one a try as well.  

I'm seeing lots of sports-related anime being recced here, so I'd like to change it up a little. Mihashi from Ookiku Furikabutte shares many character traits with Sunako from Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, i.e. have trouble getting out full sentences, frequently exist in strange anime-form (the chicken face?) while everyone around them is in normal form, still dealing with the effects of past trauma which results in severely low self-esteem despite having unusual abilities. And both these characters’ stories are presented in a sympathetic and amusing light.
