Scrapped Princess

Very similar premise about a princess and her two companions as they try to escape their pursuers. They're also by the same author. 

Produced by the same studio Bones, Scrapped Princess and Hitsugi no Chaika highlights the adventures of the main characters in a fantasy world. They journey across the land with a purpose along with a main female character of great importance. There is decent action, drama, and comedy along with a story to tell when they face off against personal struggles and powerful adversaries. Expect action in the form of magic and swords with spell incantations. If you're interested in fictional adventures with a fantasy setting of surprises, give these two a try. 

Both series features a rejected princess who bears a burden of an ancient prophecy, pursued by various enemies, and therefore embarks on a journey with two friends who are brother and sister, and are pretty skilled in combat. They are struggling to find out truth about the MC(princess) and repel various enemies attacks on their way. Both series even have the same humour and plot twists... This animes have soo much in common, so for me its no doubt that Hitsugi no Chaika creators were inspired by Scrapped Princess. upd: Oh well, its the same people made both. Nvm.  

Both of these shows have princesses and their protectors. They are both in similar situation and they both take trip to reach their goal.  

Both have a deposed princess on the run for her life protected by a small band of followers. Fantasy elements feature in both, as do intriguing characters and story. 

Both are about a princess fleeing the kingdom. Both Yona and Pacifica are wanted by the kingdom and both girls are in need of protection and get that protection by someone close to them. Lastly, both Yona and Pacifica are super duper kawaii

I know a few others have recommended the two but the main thing I would like to add is that the princesses in the two stories are VERY similar characters. If you thought the interactions between Pacifica and her adopted brother were cute and funny, you'll LOVE the dynamic betwen Hak and Yona. Yona has a little bit more of the feel of a comedy, its lends itself often to really cute digressions, but maintains the serious plot of a runnaway princess who transforms from "useless" diva into a strong leader 

Very touching fantasy stories. Pacifica (Scrapped Princess) and Chagum (Seirei no Morbitio) are both of royally families, but abandoned by them. Both have humour (more in SP) and interesting plot. Very beautiful sceneries (better in SnM), interesting characters... In fact, SnM is better. But I think, when you enjoyed one, you will like second too.  

There is a clear similarity with how both the prince in Moribito and princess in Scrapped Princess are being protected from court assassins for being the prophecied seed of destruction while living hidden from attention. The opposing parties of both shows find their divisions blurring as they learn more about the great threat. You will come to see there seem to be no real villains, only different approaches and points of view. Both Chagum and Pacifica travel extensively, albeit Pacifica moreso. Both stories feature medieval fantasy settings, with Scrapped Princess more European and Moribito distinctly inspired by Heian period Japan with some Chinese flavors added.  

Main characters of those series are both unwanted (to say it lightly) in their worlds. For both a prophecy exists that says their very existence is a threat to the world and that the world will be destroyed if they are not killed in time. In "Scrapped Princes" Pacifica has her older brother and sister to protect her. In "Serei no Moribito" Chagum has Yonsa Balsa, a skilled mercenary, to keep him safe. 

Both anime set in a fantasy world with medieval environment. The world of the Utawarerumono is asian style, and the world of Scrapped Princess is european style. One of genre of these is sci-fi, what you realize in the final episodes of the animes. In Uta there are a lot of battle in one country, and the main characters has a home. In Scrapped Princess, the main characters are travel in the world. Both anime are exciting. 

If you've already seen Scrapped Princess, please ignore this rec since Utawarerumono tells the same basic story in a much poorer manner. Likewise, if you've only seen Uta, check out Scrapped Princess for a dramatically improved viewing experience. 

If you like well-drawn anime with stories that can be dark and light-hearted at the same time, then I highly recommend Scrapped Princess. 

The best way I can articulate why an FMA fan would like Scrapped Princess is tone. You'll get very similar social commentary with the added bonus of some of the best sci fi I've seen. Let's just say it's not the standard fantasy world that's introduced early on. It's defiantly a dark one, that's for sure.  

Both series are told in a very episodic fashion where the characters are always on the move from one place to the next meeting new characters and having new adventures. Both series also deal with a character is being hunted down and having to escape danger each time from hunters and a large shadowy organization and/or villain.  

Two girls on a journey across the land trying to get away from people who are trying to kill them. Nadie and Pacifica have the same bubbly personality and the humor throughout these animes is what makes them even more similar. 

Both shows have a blonde main character set in a fictional world full of interesting religions and some science fiction. The animation of both shows is similar as they are both animated by Studio Bones as well. Both shows are about siblings protecting each other and there is a lot of action in them both although they use magic in Scrapped Princess and not alchemy. 

In both, humanity lives in the remnants of once-great civilizations. The arts of ancient humans are far beyond current humans' capabilities.

Scrapped Princess and The Third are set in a time after an apocalyptic war. The weapons and technology left behind from the wars cause problems for the main characters as the stories unfold. Each series features 2 different races, one being the humans who live primitively on the land and the other being some brand of "higher" lifeforms from space sporting advanced technology and who endeavor to keep the humans in line. In both cases, the key to overcoming the conflicts that arise in the stories are the female main characters with special abilities. Although, the main character in The Third is considerably more capable of self preservation. Overall, I found The Third to be more enjoyable over Scrapped Princess despite Scrapped's higher rating. read more 

Both animes feature medieval settings. Both animes center a character of royal origin traveling their kingdoms with a band of allies who protect them from their pursuers/people who want them dead. Both animes are around the same number of episodes. If you liked one anime, chances are you'll probably like the other too, since they both give a similar feel which may be partly due to the setting. And the protagonists from both animes undergo some sort of character development, seen more prominently in Arslan Senki than in Scrapped Princess. 

Both series follows a fantasy like setting in a world where there exists creatures and other supernatural beings. Lost technology exists in both series such as machines, magic, and other significant phenomenons. There is also prophecies and magical factors in the series. Both series also has plenty of action and some struggle against certain organizations. Both series has comedy, drama, and generally follows an adventure like theme with the characters presented.
