Hakkenden: Touhou Hakken Ibun

I agree that both are VERY similar, considering both the premise, tragic pasts, church plays an important role, the characters' mission, the slash fanservice, the character's personalities and everything. I was always reminded of 07-Ghost while watching Hakkenden even though it's been years. 

Both the series have a group of people with supernatural powers fighting against mysterious enemies they're connected to in a painful way. In both series, there's a special reason why the groups need to fight together and protect ordinary people. Additionally, there's the same kind of "must protect" relationship between two of the MCs in both series, and there's betrayal and confusion they must deal with along the way. In short, the series have a similar feel and many themes in common, so if you liked one you'll surely like the other too!  

The story is very different. In both series the main character is trying to gather people with strange powers (the Dragons in Akatsuki no Yona and the 8 Warriors in Hakkenden). There are funny moments in both and a very deep inspection over the immortality 

- Similar art styles - MC is a little boy - Lots of bishounen everywhere who do their best to protect MC - Both series give the same kind of mysterious feeling. 

Both have a same vibe, and involve characters with supernatural powers Both churches, deal with monotheistic religion, but with have Japanese religious characterstics, like exorcist, animal spirits, temples, etc 

The main protagonist both share similarities in being seriously good at what they do confidently. They both have a comedic side and a hidden persona of them self.  

Hakkenden instantly reminds me of the X TV/X 1999 Movie Same Supernatural feeling Since they are brothers and they have similar powers: Shino---> Kamui Souseke ----. Fuuuma 

Both animes have historical elements, yōkai and a similar art style. If you enjoyed one of them, you'll definitely enjoy the other as well. 

Similar characters and their relationship, for example Conrad is similar to Sousuke. The main character's team is made only of bishonens, both anime have an interesting fantasy world setting, both have many comedy and drama. 

I get a similar vibe from these two anime, likely because their comedic aspect (minus the BL-humour from Hakkenden, which is almost non-existent in InuYasha) is quite similar, and they're both of a fantasy/adventure genre. Furthermore, both of these anime also make extensive use of the storyline of exorcising demons that make trouble for ordinary people. Besides that, the main male characters also have some similarities. Shino and InuYasha both act like brats, look younger than they are, and wield a special sword. I just couldn't help but be in some way reminded of InuYasha when I started watching Hakkenden. 

These anime are similar in theme and tone. In both, the main characters (Shino and Miharu) have tragic backstories that lead to magical weapons living inside of them. This makes them the target of the antagonists, and because they are physically smaller, they need the help of protectors who travel around with them. Both anime have hints of shounen-ai as well. 

Also based off the hakkenden novels. The eight half brothers who are now reincarnated in a different time are gathering together (in coincidence). Unlike this movie, the hakkenden anime series doesn't have as much romance--more friendship, family bond stuff.  

Both main characters are in a lot of contact with monsters—as friends, not as enemies. A nice change compared to all the monster-slaying anime out there. 

First off, I love the art in both of these animes and not just because there are many bishounen guys in both of the series, but also because of the scenery and the rich colours that were used. Both of these series revives back Japanese mythology and since I am not Japanese and knows little about the country's myth, I enjoyed learning about them. Hiiro no Kakera is light and it's directed more towards romance while Hakkenden has a darker feel because of each of the character's past. I prefer Hakkenden since I love the supernatural mix with a mysterious vibe. When I watch the series, the plot made me stay up until 3 am and left me wanting to know more of the character's story. read more 

Animes with church themes, shonen-ai undertones and a stubborn, somehow childish, yet strong-willed protagonist. The comedy and drama blend is well done in both. Makai Ouji uses angels and demons while Hakkenden has youkai characters, but Christianism is present in some way. The stories are also similar in the sense that there's both a main story line ('Solomon's successor has born') and a main underlying motif, which would be Individuality and Death respectively for Makai Ouji and Hakkenden.

Bishounen hanging around together and having adventures. Free is slice of life while Hakkenden is fantasy. Both are wonderful, heart-warming animes which are made beautifully and with a lot of wonderful efforts by the producers. Both animes have a shounen-ai touch.

Exactly the same atmosphere with spirits and deities as well the architecture of the buildings. Also Megu looks exactly like the little black fluffy things from Spirited away.  

I find it similar to the Bakuman Series from season 1 to season 3 because of the manga titled Crow that Niizuma Eiji(one of the supporting character) drew in the story since Bakuman is all about a magaka/manga artist's life if you have already watched it. Besides that, it turned out that the voice actor for both Murasame and Niizumi Eiji are played by the same person. Other similarities that I find is the strength of the bond of their friendship which you may find it similar between Mashiro and Takagi in Bakuman. In conclusion, both story manage to control the audience emotions throughout their whole journey in each story. read more 

Similar- -In both, the MCs are looking for something important. -Both have someone who has an (evil) "clone". -They have someone who goes blind in one eye. -Both (almost) have the same genres. Different- -Tsubasa takes place in different worlds while Hakkenden takes place in Japan.  

Both have a fantasy story including supernatural creatures. The characters live in old cities and the atmosphere is cheerful and warm. Differnce: Hakkenden: Japan, Hakushaku: Great Britain and Scotland.

I am so surprised this isn't listed here. I don't really know how to put it, but the general feel between the two anime are two similar. Examples: - The relationship between Shino and Sosuke can be found between the two main characters Gilbert and Oz in Pandora Hearts. - Instead of demons and spirits as seen in Hakkenden, Pandora Hearts have these creatures called chains. - both main characters are kids that hold some type of power Just watch it. If you liked Hakkenden: Touhou Hakken Ibun you'll like Pandora Hearts for sure. 

The two guys in this anime aren't exactly related by blood (but they're pretty close), and they are looking for "something" that is quite similar to FMA. Also, the story behind the two guys are similar to FMA as well. You'll love this one =) 

This anime is not very popular but it should be. It is also a drama, fantasy, mysticism and about a friendship.

Both have demons, not fully alive-but not dead either characters, a guy looking like kid, who is not what he seems like. Similar sense of humour. If you enjoyed one, I'm sure you will like the other one. 

Both have the theme of collecting the people who have special gems Both have demons, spirits and whatnot Swords Close relations between male characters Somehow have similar vibe, so if you liked one, you should check the other one. 

There is a distinct focus on the relationship between humans and demons/spirits, with art styles generally geared toward a female audience. Kamisama Hajimemashita has more of a shoujo romance feel to it, while Hakkenden has more of a 'bishounen deal with their problems' feel to it with a side order of shounen ai subtext (thankfully this is fairly lowkey enough for those not so interested in such things to gloss over).  

Attention this recommendation might contain spoilers. Both have: - A tragic past event. - Blue haired hero was raised as a girl wearing long hair and yukata. - Hero possesses inside him a great power in the form of a sword (Stone Sword/Blade of life). - TG is more romance and Hakkenden is more "friendship". - Beautiful animation & supernatural events/beings. 

In Hakkenenden, the way that Sousuke values and takes care of Shino, and the way that Shino trusts Sousuke to take care of his daily needs (eating, sleeping, riding first class on trains) reminds me of Ciel’s relationship with his butler Sebastian in Kuroshitsuji. However, Shino and Sousuke have more of a brotherly/friendship relationship and Ciel and Sebastian’s is darker and based on a mutually beneficial contract. Still, both Sousuke and Sebastian have that calm, protective demeanor in taking care of their pretty, younger charges. There is also hints of shounen ai in both these relationships. 

Some of the supernatural elements and relationships and the shounen-ai feeling of the two series are the same.

Cute supernaturally charged main character, whose mysterious past is connected to the the other characters in an as yet unclear way, with a devoted helper/friend by his side, with shounen-ai undertones. The light yet engaging and humorous tone of the anime carries the more serious episodes with ease without too much muddying up the waters.  

Well, at first glance, I didn't think these two series were similar but the supernatural theme involving mystical creatures is hard to ignore. Then, there's the main male protagonist who is kind and gets along well with others, in particular with the other main protagonist of their series. There is some action, fantasy, and drama involved that takes place in a modern setting. Among these things, there is strange origins related to some of the characters that are explored in later episodes.
