After only watching one episode of Master Keaton, I could tell that Mushishi is similar. Ginko travels and solves problems with mushi, and Keaton solves problems for (insurance problems if the anime stays consistent) people who are in trouble. They both have the slice of life style pace, and from what I hear it is kind of episodic. But you probably would have heard of Mushishi before this one.

Their original mangas are made by the same author. They have kinda the same type of main character and the atmosphere of the stories are the same, with suspense and adventures.

A very skilled and well educated Japanese man solves mysteries around the world. Another contemporary setting but the look and feel is a bit different. If you are looking for something more mature and thoughtful take a look at Gallery Fake.

Both shows have negotiations, spies and action! O_o

Both have characters who are art experts. There is a lot of talk about art objects. Master Keaton is about adventures in Europe involving archeology. There are moments of action. In Kyoto Teramachi Sanjou no Holmes, the character solves mysteries in art evaluation, all located in Japan.

Both series are slow slice-of-life mysteries. Without children and school. Without supernatural things. With similar atmosphere. But Keaton is episodic.

Both are episodic series about a slightly mysteriously man that travels the globe and helps people in various situations. Both shows have next to no recurring characters, aside from the main protagonist(s).

The two are episodic anime, maybe Keaton have more intentions to make a ground of the protagonists, but they are similar in the few elements that link one chapter to another: the people.

- Both are episodic in nature - Both involve traveling to various places, often in "Europe-ish" style - Both involve solving problems of different kinds - Both use quite varied backgrounds from episode to episode - The protagonist of both series is quite versatile regarding physical and intellectual skills

Both are episodic adaptions of manga about manly men, doing manly things. Where Keaton is a master of all trades, Golgo only solves his problems one way: with a sniper rifle.

Both shows play strongly on the idea of a wandering prodigy, a student of life. While Master Keaton is a classy show, aimed at an older audience, Golden Boy focuses on the sex comedy angle for the twenty-something crowd.

Both are mature, episodic series (well "WHR" gets a plot part way through) with deliberate pacing. They are also both realistic (to a degree), have interesting main characters (Robin and Keaton are amazing! Great main characters, although their persoanlites are not that similur), and use suspense conservatively, but effectively. Neither series relie on suspense completely, but when it is used it is usally quite good. Oh and they both suffer from incredbly poor writing in the begining which damages the otherise exellence of the series. (Oh and "]WHR" has a terrible ending). Ok so they might not be that much alike, but I do think  read more

Both series are episodic mature dramas with a very cool main character who goes around solving other people's problems. Black Jack is a doctor, while Taichi Hiraga-Keaton is an insurance investigator (although he also is a "jack of all trades" being highly skilled as a negotiator, archaeologist, former survival instructor, historian, and traveler). Anyway both men are very unorthodox, and yet looked highly apon by others in their respected feilds (most of the time). Yet society as a whole does not respect either of them (Black Jack in particular as he is an unlicensed doctor). Both men have amazing abilities, they are almost super-human,  read more

Although a decade separates their release, Patlabor and Master Keaton are adapted from manga created using the same mangaka ethics. They are character driven shows that avoids fast faced, action oriented techniques used in mecha or adventure anime/manga. They have no overarching plots, but instead tell simple and concise stories. Both series would have a hard time connecting with a modern (male) audience if they were widely available today. Yet, Patlabor and Master Keaton have their charms that makes them beloved by old-school anime watchers.

Both main characters are professionals and helping others by completing their requests. City Hunter has more of fan service, women, guns and is a shounen type of anime while Master Keaton is more serious type of anime. Both animes seems to also be episodic. I would say City Hunter is much more enjoyable to watch but it does not hurt to watch them both.

Two episodic series driven by the personality of their main characters. Taichi Keaton and Lupin III can MacGyver their way out of anything and use their skills to great success (solving a case or stealing valuables). Anyone who enjoys old school anime will appreciate these two titles.
