Both products of the 1980's OVA boom, Bubblegum Crisis and Megazone 23 are each tales of man's ambiguous identity in a not-so-distant future.

aBoth series have an all female cast as their main characters. Dirty Pair has a very high comedic content; as well as plenty of action and explosions. Bubblegum Crisis has plenty of action; with more of a serious drama type feel. Both shows have an abundance of gunfire and excessive use of explosives; whatever it takes to get the job done.l

Both are 80's classic Cyberpunk gems that everybody should see.

both blue gender and bubblegum crisis are severely underrated hidden treasures in the realm of old school anime...both shows have 80's-ish rock music in them. blue gender in the opening intro and bubble gum crisis throughout the OVA ...both shows are cyber mecha with dark chaotic themes and nudity..futuristic elements

Brilliant women in charge of traditionally patriarchal customs of killing and destroying, improving them with empathy and intelligence as they fight.

A masked hero who have mission to protect humanity from dangerous enemies using a unique power suit/armor. Similarity : + Makai Knight & Knight Sabers never show they face to public or make full appearance without their armor/power suit + Ironically, the main enemy, Bloomer(Bubblegum Crisis) & Horror(Garo), born/make by human + The phase story is same Different : + Knight Sabers (Bubblegum Crisis) only worked basic from contract job but refuse to work with bad people + Makai Knight (Garo) devoted himself to protect human without asking for anything

Both series are set in a futuristic society where cyborgs are the norm and follow characters with similar roles. Appleseed follows a specialized police tactical team who deal with violent cyborgs, while Bubblegum Crisis is about a group of women who act as vigilantes/mercenaries fighting cyborg crime outside the law. Both are must-see series if you are a fan of Cyberpunk.

Bubblegum Crisis inspired many series and Metal Fighter Miku is most likely one of them. Four main female characters - check Metal/Mecha suits - check Fighting sequences - check Cool soundtrack - check Be advised that Metal Fighter Miku is not as great as Bubblegum Crisis, but nonetheless it's still a really good series.

Both shows are heavily inspired by the aesthetics of western media at the time (Bubblegum Crisis with Blade Runner and The Big O with the Batman animated series). They both also follow a more episodic approach at the start, with a few somewhat standalone episodes of the cast solving crimes and fighting enemies, before moving into a more connected storyline in the latter parts.

Both animes are peak 1980s when it comes to artstyle, character design and have an amazing contemporary soundtrack.

Set in sci-fi futuristic cities involving a military organization fighting robotic opponents. The city atmosphere in particular is fairly similar. In Bubblegum Crisis it's the AD Police against Boomers, and in Black Magic it's the actual military against a runaway combat android. Both times it's excessive violence within civilian urban areas.

Both have tough girl bounty hunters as protagonists, are very action oriented, short story due to the OVA format, some gore, slapstick style humor, a slight fetishism for weapons & Kenichi Sonoda character designs.

Both have a serious and action heavy cyberpunk setting with female lead characters, both deal with similar themes such as technological progress, human-machine relations, dangers and benefits of AI etc.

Both are 80's OVA's that take place in a cyberpunk city, with the MC fighting against androids.

Both are cyberpunk shows with memorable characters and drama/plot mixed with plenty of fun in between. Plenty of cute cyborg, criminal and cop girls kicking ass too. Also, the great Kenichi Sonoda worked on both of these titles for extra cool points.

Near-future urban violence involving high-tech armor suits.

Both are cyberpunk anime set in futuristic versions of Tokyo and center around the deeds of female vigilantes-type groups. Both series also contain elements of mecha - Jo with Django and The Knight Sabers with their power suits. The characters also have rough personality/role equivilents; Sei being Sylia, Jo being Priss, Meg being Linna and Amy being Nene.

Bounty hunter girls with some hi-tech equipment. Actually, Gundress looks pretty much like a clone of BGC.

Very different settings, but both feature a lot of similar themes. Both feature a lot of top notch action, sci-fi elements (way more of this in BGC, cyberpunk included), and very strong female leads. Birdy herself could probably take on the whole squad of Knight Sabers! Both shows also balance in the action and plot with a good deal of humor and it works really well. All topped off with really top notch production values, these are really good examples of classic OVA's.

Let's say there was one sole Knight Saber in Bubblegum Crisis and her name was, Iria. Both are fun sci-fi's with females that kick ass basically, they don't offer incredibly mindblowing plots, drama, aren't very deep or complex, or whatnot, but the quality is there along with great production values for their time with excellent action and sci-fi settings/designs. All around classic sci-fi.

The same main reason to exist: learn the roots of the big hits Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 and Legend of the Galactic Heroes. The second one is deeply romantic (so sugar on in that gives nausea), but the battle is cool on the other side. Don't expect great artworks here.

Bubblegum Crisis and Macross Frontier both have strong female characters and feature a great blend of catchy pop rock and action scenes.

Both titles are sci-fi anime that were released in a similar time period (late 1980's - early 1990's) with similar animation and a similar vibe. Both anime take place in a futuristic version of Tokyo and feature an all-female combat team trying to protect Tokyo from evil monsters. Both anime are quite action-packed as well. If you like one, you should enjoy the other.

Both titles are sci-fi anime from the same time period (late 1980s - early 1990s), with similar art, animation, and atmosphere. In both anime, the protagonists have access to armor/suits that provide them superhuman abilities and allow them to combat evil monsters that can resemble humans. They are action-packed and entertaining to watch. If you liked one, you'd like the other.

Both Bubblegum Crisis OVA and LOTGH: My Conquest is the Sea Of Stars are not required to watch the sequels (BGC Tokyo 2040 and LOTGH OVA Series), but they help you to understand better the storylines. In case of Legend... it's even better just because the anime turns to be more enjoyable if you gather all info possible upfront.

Both shows take place admist a dystopian society where it's man vs. machine, the female characters are fierce fighters, and share Kenichi Sonoda as the character designer. The only difference is that Gall Force: Chikyuu Shou takes place in the late 21st century in Australia with some scenes on Mars.

Cops? 80's? Female leads? Futuristic-ish Tokyo? Yeah, these two are basically the same show.

Beyond the obvious visual cyberpunk stylings which link these two series, they have a lot of common ground in the questions of identity and humanity in an age of cybernetics which is mixed with exciting action.
