Bubblegum Crisis

the japanese always had a love for motorcycles, and they clearly showing that in ova's back in the 80's, mixing it with mecha elements, bubblegum crisis has a motoroid cycle that Priss ownes , Shogo has a 'Bahamut"motortcycle that is a small computer terminal as well, and both their bikes are red coloured, same as in Akira 

This recommendation is more so for the first part of Megazone. Part 1 and Bubblegum Crisis are crystalized 80s from top to bottom and share a similar mood, featuring both mecha action alongside some upbeat sol moments. Future Megazone parts get edgier and less upbeat and coherent but still share some similarities.  

Groups of young women fighting the evils of their respective universes, in Bubblegum Crisis it's cyborgs and in Dirty pair just evil dudes with evil plans. (for the most part, couple robots and fictional creatures do happen) The shows aesthetics and character designs are instantly comparable and boast among the best visuals in anime that go way beyond holding up. The key difference between the two is that Bubblegum Crisis is more of a masked hero show while Dirty Pair is more along the lines of 007's action espionage. Bubblegum Crisis is shorter, and in my humble opinion, a lot better. But a fan of one is going to have a hard time finding something as similar to it, as the other. With Dirty Pair, unlike Bubblegum Crisis, the sequel is superior to the first installment. read more 

Bubblegum Crisis most likely inspired Akira and both share a common setting: a near future Tokyo turned cyperpunk dystopia. Oh, and motorbikes feature prominently! High points of both are the gorgeous backgrounds, the action sequences and the dark themes. Shared weak points are the lacking characterization and rather straight forward plotline.
