Except the average MAL user I suppose, 5's an average, not 8.

There's a lot of stuff I don't add to my list, and some I frankly think no one should, like music videos and commercials.
Those just clog up a list and no one cares. Though I suppose people add them exactly for that reason, to pad their list.
I also don't add shorts, generally below 20min/piece, or series with very short episodes. Personally I just feel that they
too, just clog up the list. Even though they may have artistic merit, they're just too short to compare with longer films.
Lastly, I don't add specials or OVAs that are essentially just filler episodes of a longer TV series. Unless they're a proper sequel, prequel, or stand-alone spin-off; add significant value to the main series; or are just substantial enough on their own. And no recaps, if I even watch any.
