I decided to watch this movie because I had seen a lot of people praise it as one of Ghibli's best films, but sadly, it did not live up to the hype for me. Without further ado, let's get into my thoughts:

Art and Animation: 10/10
Most of the positive things I have to say about Kaguya-hime are regarding its art style. This movie is incredibly visibly appealing, with its gentle brushstrokes and flowing movements. If I had to pick one thing that I didn't like about it, I would say that the colors could afford to be a bit more vibrant, but that doesn't detract from ... my admiration of the visual aspects of this movie.

Sound: 7/10
I watched this in the English dub, and the voice cast was of good quality. The score was nice as well, but it didn't particularly stick out for me.

Story: 3/10
I knew going into this that Ghibli movies often have brief moments or scenes where I lose interest, but this movie was different. I spent about 80% of the movie uninvested, and another 15% being confused at what was happening. The ending (which I will not spoil) felt sudden, and I feel like there was very little buildup to it. The only scenes I was interested in was the scenes with Kaguya's suitors.

Themes: 4/10
The themes of this movie were interesting, but they failed to resonate with me. The theme I was the most interested in was the restrictions of women in high society/nobility/royalty. As a history buff, this topic always interests me when it comes up in media. Sadly, this wasn't touched upon that much. If it was a more present idea in the movie, then I might have liked it more.

Overall: 5.5/10
I am sure that this is a beautiful and moving movie for many people, but I am not one of them. However, I understand that this movie is loved by lots of people, and I'm glad that it has touched so many people.

This manga is a simple yet delightful fantasy shoujo that will be enjoyed by both fans of shoujo manga and fans of the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale. Although it does not attempt anything new within the genre and occasionally dives into classic shoujo tropes, it is still a fun read.

Story: 7/10
If you are looking for a revolutionary fantasy manga that tries to do new things, then I would not recommend this; however, the story is still fun and engaging. The setting is fantastical and immersive, and the characters all have their own charms. I personally would have gone in a slightly different ... direction with the ending, and the romance wasn't quite what I was wanting, but overall, I enjoyed the story.

Art: 8/10
The art in this series is light and airy, which fits the content of the story well and is pleasing to look at.

Characters: 6.5/10
The characters are all charming, but quite a few of them don't have the depth that I've come to expect from shoujo series. In addition, there are very few instances of growth that are specific to a single character. However, I still did get attached to some of the characters.

Overall Enjoyment: 7/10
While not the most interesting or entertaining fantasy shoujo I've read, I still enjoyed this manga, and would recommend it to enjoyers of fantasy shoujo and romance shoujo alike.

I'll begin my review by saying that I'm a big fan of shoujo romance. Cliche high school romances are right up my alley. But lately, I've been trying to expand my horizons by trying new series in different genres, and I've seen several people say good things about Kaguya-sama. I wasn't sure if I would like it, but I started reading it anyways.
At first, I thought that the manga was good, but didn't necessarily live up to the glowing reviews I had seen. The comedy was good, with some chapters landing the jokes better than others, but it wasn't the funniest thing I'd ever read. ... However, the story greatly improved when our two protagonists finally get together. The story strikes a good balance between the comedy-focused chapters and the genuinely sweet romance-focused ones. The ending was bittersweet-I was glad that these characters had overcome so much and were ready for the rest of their lives, but at the same time, I didn't want to say goodbye.
Overall, I'd recommend Kaguya-sama to my fellow shoujo manga fans, as well as anyone looking for a good romcom to read.

Are you looking for a light-hearted manga to serve as a palette cleanser between binges of your other series? Let me introduce you to this wonderful shoujo romance.

To put it simply, this is a manga about two people from different worlds who meet and begin to overcome the boundaries set by Yuki, the female lead's, deafness. Although not the most complex or unique manga to come out, it is easy to read and watching the characters grow closer is enjoyable. Both of the leads are likeable (although Yuki may come off as plain to some), and the side characters help to encourage their relationship. ... The art is beautifully drawn and as soft as the snowfall shown in the background of many of this manga's panels. There are some shoujo tropes present, but they are not overwhelming. In my opinion, much of this manga's charm comes from its light-hearted, fluffy nature that lends itself well to quiet, calm reading sessions. If you enjoy shoujo, romance, or slice of life stories, I highly recommend that you give this manga a try.

I want to start this review by stating that I personally think that this is one of the best shoujo manga to come out in recent years. It's not the most unique manga in the demographic, nor is it free from its troupes and cliches, but I found myself enjoying it despite that.

Most of the synopses out there make this manga sound super perverted, but trust me, it's not. The relationship between the two, while off to a rocky start, was cute, and the story was enjoyable overall.

-Art: 7/10-
The art is very typical for a shoujo, but it's still visually pleasing.

-Character: 7/10-
The main ... character, Ellie/Eriko, was very relateable, and ML can be a little annoying at first but I found myself loving him more as the story went on. There were some nice side characters as well. My only complaint is that sometimes the actions of some characters come off as tropey or cliche.

-Enjoyment: 8/10-
I've read a lot of shoujo, and while it's not anything revolutionary, I still found it refreshing and fun to read.

Overall: 8/10. I recommend.

This was a pretty good show. I don't think it's something that I would recommend to everyone, but fans of supernatural anime will probably like it. I thought that one of the best parts about this anime was that it features supernatural beings from around the world, not just Japan. At the same time, there's something for fans of Japanese legends as well. I also really liked the soundtrack, the jazz complemented the mood well in most situations and the opening and ending themes are fun to listen to. Also, Shunichi Toki is in it, and he did a good job in my opinion. Overall, ... I'd give it a solid 7 out of ten.
