WAIT! Hold on, lemme explain.
Yes, this is essentially hentai.
Yes, your family will disown you if they catch you watching this.
Yes, this show is kinda degen.
HOWEVER, I have to give this show props just for "going there". You have to admire the show's willingness to get knee-deep in the filth.
...
The premise is comedic enough. It's a solid hook. A group of dudes go to brothels and review them? Like c'mon, that's hilarious.
I realize that Interspecies Reviewers is kind of a meme, as it should be, but the show has its merits. In truth, I went in with no expectations since I was aware of how lewd it was, so my review could be a tad generous.
The comedy in this show is honestly great. The reversals (Crim having the largest member, Zel finding Mitsue attractive, etc.) are well-executed and definitely made me laugh.
What really put this show over the edge for me in terms of quality came around episode 11. The gang runs out of money, so they go out and do actual quests and inadvertently save the world, to which the narrator says, "But that's a story for another day." While this is pretty basic satirical irony, I live for stuff like that. My only real gripe is that they didn't do more of this. There are moments where Zel and Stunk show off their combat ability, but the show never touches on it. They're just badasses, and I find that funny. These overpowered adventurers just want to quest and have enough money to fuck the night after. That is some funny shit.
Aside from all that, the music is great and the art is solid. This show is honestly a helluva lot better than I expected.

What the fuck is pacing? What is non-repetitive dialogue? If I had to take a shot every time someone said "We'll save her...for sure this time", I'd have died of alcohol poisoning. This show is a far cry from what it once was. The writing formula is so offhanded. It's an endless cycle of flashbacks and needless backstory surrounding 30 seconds of actual action. It's getting old.
I'll give you an example. Hazukashi. Don't know who that is? Good, you shouldn't because he had literally 37 seconds of screentime. Writers had the audacity to give him flashbacks and backstory, just to instantly get foiled by Hawks.
...
Why bother? Why even spend ten seconds on the guy if that's all he's there to do? But wait, that's not all he's there to do. Hawks apparently heard him say one thing that kind of had something to do with the current "metahuman" Nomu problem.
Now what you're probably thinking is, "So what you're saying is that they introduced a new character and gave him 37 seconds of screentime just to flimsily further the narrative?" And the answer is yes. That's the narrative device they decided to use. This is likely the most egregiously lazy writing of any scene I have ever seen on television. It's unbelievably offhanded.
Aside from that, there were like six fights, and all but two were okay at best. They're getting in a bad habit of injecting flashbacks during their fights and it ruins the moment. The only fight in this show where interspersing flashbacks worked was Deku v Bakugou in S3. Fights are painfully short, the most offensive example being Deku v Overhaul. What a waste of potential that was. The ones before that have moments (the Suneater fight and the Red Riot-Fat Gum fight for instance), but they're marred by flashbacks that are inexplicably in the middle of each of them.
There were only two decent fights: Endeavor v High-End Nomu and Deku v Gentle. Gentle's fight in particular is fantastic because they didn't overly rush Gentle's character. He's instantly become one of my favorite characters and I hope they use him more.
It pisses me off that they brought in Nighteye just to die. Can't have anyone important dying, right? But boy did they make it feel like viewers were supposed to care when he bit it. Man, they really milked that for all it was worth. His quirk is ridiculously powerful, but nope, dies within a season. More offhanded writing.
I've heard My Hero being called the next generation's Dragon Ball. Are people really dying on that hill? That's an awful comparison, it's just a cringier knock-off.
Oh, and the disco theme is insufferable, glad they're done using that forever. Kind of a nitpick, but I hated Eri's dub voice. It was...overly precious, I guess. It was annoying, Eri's sub voice was far more bearable.
All in all, mostly bad.

[Spoilers] Let me be clear, this show is not very good. But, the theme is really solid and the art is unbelievable. The characters are brutally bad until near the end. But, the worst thing about Grimgar is its GOD-AWFUL pacing and shallow plot. The show feels like it was setting up for more seasons that never happened, so I'll give it a pass on the shallow plot, but the pacing was still awful enough for me to give the story aspect a 2. Manato dies and they spend like half the season being sad about it and constantly flashing back and going to his
...
grave. Then they go to the cave and kill the main boss in like five seconds with no build-up. They spend like three episodes being sad about a character death, but only like five minutes on the big bad of the whole season. That is a glaring flaw in pacing. The art is mesmerizing, but the pacing is so bad the show is still a 5 at best.

Anyone who enjoyed this is not only wrong, but also stupid. If you combined the lack of direction from the rest of the series and then added constant deus ex machinas and unexplained plot points, you would have Tokyo Ghoul:re. I wanted to know how Kaneki got to becoming Sasaki in the first place. They never explained that because they tried to bury it, and every other plot hole, under endless conflict, which is sloppy. There were a few episodes that almost had a direction in mind. When Tsukiyama was trying to jog Kaneki's memory and when Kaneki and Touka were getting reacquainted. Mutsuki's character
...
was butchered. These issues and a million more are why this show is ridiculously overrated.

(Spoilers) This felt like it was written by edgy teenagers on tumblr. I've been told the manga is better and that this is overall a poor adaptation. I'll take their word for it. I never cared for Amon, or any of the CCG people. They were bland characters with super cliche dialogue and they had virtually no personality. The show as a whole felt like it lacked direction. Tsukiyama was the best character, he was the most palatable character in an endless sea of edginess. Oh, and Touka decided to run a marathon. Great storytelling. We only found out about the black dog and the
...
devil ape right before they died. Nagachika basically disappeared until the very end. It was just sloppy and all over the place. The soundtrack, however, is good and the art is spectacular in spots.

[Spoilers] I'll get lampooned for giving this show a low rating, but it needs to be said. To be frank, I went into this with no bias and truly wanted to enjoy this show. I did...until L died. The show was progressing well with little to no filler. In fact, throughout the series, the pacing was well-executed.
The concept itself is uniquely brilliant since the show raises questions of ethics regarding killing for the greater good, which is always an interesting topic. It's a psychological thriller that operates as a whodunnit where viewers already know the culprit. The suspense of the show is palpable. The show
...
is also not without its comedic moments and the deadpan delivery of some of the lines had me laughing hysterically ("This is the first time in my life that I've been provoked to hit a woman", for example).
However, the show takes a massive step back after L's death. A child with all the mannerisms of L (I call him L-lite) comes in and thwarts Light in a matter of like a dozen episodes. It's just not a satisfying ending at all.
Furthermore, I think some of the lines of thinking between L and Light were a bit unbelievable. I found myself asking multiple times "how would he know that?" To me, there were some leaps in logic that go mostly unexplained. This is, however, a very minor factor in my review of the series.
Most of my qualms with this show come from the post-L portion of it, where an unsatisfying conclusion is given. In my humble opinion, the series would've been better off ending with L's death.

[Spoilers] This is one of those all-timers that I'll enjoy no matter how many times I've watched it. The actual plot is fairly simple, but the detail is unbelievably thorough. The show raises questions regarding quantum physics, human psychology, and mind philosophy, questions I never thought a show could make viewers answer. How many times would you watch a loved one die in futile efforts to save them? The difficult task of balancing this kind of heavy material with quirky comedy is executed nearly flawlessly, as most characters (especially Itaru) have their funny moments. Steins;Gate will make you laugh, cry, and leave you in awe.
...
That's what's important, kudos to the creators for making unforgettable characters for this modern masterclass of anime.
