Yakusoku no Neverland

Psychologically disturbing, centering around the insidious nature of child abuse, and pinning adults using their power over children as the main threat, Happy Sugar Life and Promised Neverland may have two completely different story lines, but share a lot of similarities when it comes to the ingenuity of young characters overcoming hideous individuals. Happy Sugar Life is possibly one of the more controversial anime out there. Our main character once a victim of abuse now uses her defense mechanism- a strong intuition about people who are malicious, and a ability to manipulate people which she uses on these antagonists to obtain her goals. Fans of these shows will get a lot of enjoyment out of the characters in both of these series.

Goblin Slayer

If you loved Goblin Slayer's seriousness and all-out violence, take the next step out of a fantasy world and into the ruthless world of a Samurai's life in 1600's Japan. Our main character in Shigurui is just as stoic, merciless, and relentless as Goblin Slayer, and the animation is even more gruesome. This anime takes a step up in maturity- and not just in rating. This anime is historical and as realistic as most anime get. Although much older than Goblin Slayer, the detail put into this anime is intricate, the animation, blood-curdling, and the story, much more toned for a older audience. If you've already seen Shigurui, and you're tired of seeing the same old Racal-boy type characters taking the lead in a bubbly isekai, I would give Goblin Slayer a try. It has a graver tone than most anime airing in the past couple of seasons.

Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru?

If you enjoy strange catches to your anime with the cast focusing on one specific goal, and you don't mind a bit of whimsy and klutzy story-telling, you'll enjoy Zombieland Saga and Dumbbell. Both rely on silly humor and eccentric characters to drive the plot and generate interest in their viewers. I'd say Zombieland Saga is a better anime than Dumbbell, but nonetheless Dumbbell is worth checking out too. As girly as both series are, as well as odd, most viewers will enjoy both of these shows, and adore its unique characters.

Mushishi and Demon Slayer have a very similar aesthetic and historical feel- however Mushishi is much more laid back, and less violent to be sure. I would definitely give Mushishi a try if you're just recently getting into anime, and Demon Slayer has your interest. Conversely, if you're a fan of Mushshi, you will appreciate the historical feel of Demon Slayer, and be entranced by the traditional music, representation of culture, and mysterious characters. Both shows shouldn't be passed up if you like a more mature, serious tone in your anime.

Both have whimsical main-characters whom have unique and comedic interactions with the rest of the cast. Feel good, laid back shows with little to no tragedy. Comfy and sweet, easy to binge watch under blankets with a hot meal and drink.
