Both involve a parent raising their child (or children in Wolf Children) whilst overcoming their own personal issues. It's difficult to say exactly how similar the two situations are without giving huge spoilers, but they're pretty similar. Also, both series have a fantastic soundtrack and incredible animation, and they're both extremely emotional watches. Chances are that one or another might make you shed a tear at some point. And if you were left with somewhat of a void after watching either CAS or WC, one of these will probably fill it. (Bear in mind, though, that if you're going to watch After Story, it might be an idea to watch Clannad's first series first).

I can certainly see similarities between both of these, so I reckon it would be likely for fans of one to like the other. Here's why ~ Both Ouran and Otomen spend a lot of time poking fun at common shoujo clichés and tropes whilst also utilising them to their potential bests, making for a funny, fluffy and usually light-hearted read. They also both like to place a lot of focus on questioning and parodying gender stereotypes. Haruhi is a girl who doesn't very much care about anyone's gender - not even her own - and whilst Asuka certainly cares about being as masculine as possible, he often fails and finds himself caving into his 'girlier' desires. Whilst they're both very different characters in their own ways, they both have issues with the way gender is perceived and the stereotypes associated with it, and a lot of the supporting cast share these views at points, whether to a greater or lesser degree. It's also notable that they're both primarily comedies, and whilst both do have their darker moments, neither ever quite seems to lose its lighthearted touch (up to where I've read, anyway).

Whilst the two might initially seem incredibly different, there are reasons why a fan of one will likely enjoy the other, putting the largely different art styles and target demographics aside. Both shows have a wide and varied supporting cast accompanying the main couple (which, in both shows, consists of a shy girl and a more confident boy) and these supporting characters get their own spotlight arcs in both series. In both Clannad and Kimi ni Todoke, there is a big focus not only on romance, but themes like friendship and family, too. They both also have a mixture of comedic and dramatic elements, although Clannad places a lot more focus on the latter than Kimi ni Todoke usually does. It's also notable that both series offer a continuation regarding the couple's lives after they get together (if you should choose to watch Clannad's After Story or read Kimi ni Todoke's manga), something rarely seen in romantic anime/manga.

Both are from the same company and embody the same sort of mood; they're also both very simplistic, yet ultimately heartwarming and uplifting teenage romances. The main characters are also of similar ages, and although Shizuku is very different to Ume, you can imagine the two being friends. Fans of one will likely enjoy the other.
