Looking at the score, I wonder how this anime made it so high. This was one of those anime my group of weaboo friends made fun of and made each other watch on many accounts of i dare yous. Though to be fair, the art is pretty decent.
The story starts out with a fat and ugly kae, eyes like brock from pokemon, and glasses like any stereotypical otaku in akihabara. After a tragic death of an animated drawing of a male yaoi character and about a week of starving herself (wow! promoting that anorexic lifestyle!) she not only loses her glasses and develops some tohru
...
honda eyes, but becomes the next victoria secret angel, loosing over half her initial body weight! Suddenly, all the guys who ignored her before as she was shipping them have turned their heads and looked at her newly evolved form!
Even after they establish that they're all after her, she still treats them like toys. She never thinks about them, rather about how they could be together with each other. She clumps them together and don't think of them as their own respective person, yet they're still smitten.
Think of every trope you've ever seen, like the kabe-don, the beach scene, the double kabe-don scene, the date scene with all suitors, and smash them all in one, and you've found a shojo hellhole that makes up this anime.
The music is mediocre and very upbeat, but nothing sticks out. Art is the only redeeming feature. I was really sad because I was expecting something like her BL or yaoi mangas, which I actually really like.
Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time. If you like BL or yaoi, skip this manga/anime and just read her other manga

while watching this anime, I was really hyped up for it and it...disappointed me.
Story 9/10: the premise was already originally good so i have nothing to complain about here except for the pacing. (which was horrid.)
Art: 7/10: while it wasn't amazing, it wasn't bad.
Sound: 5/10: listening to the entire soundtrack online, I only liked the first soundtrack compared to the others.
Character: 3/10: this was the worst and the most into detail I'm going to go in. It seems like every character has their moment to shine. There are too many typical tropes like a character gets depressed over what they did and lamented. They

decide to become strong and overcome their fears. sounds great right? but after seeing every character go through the exact same trials, it got pretty annoying. Minor spoiler warning!!!
two episodes of watching Rin try to pathetically draw the sword and about an episode of fighting doesn't cut it. The battle always last longer than the foreplay. If I was to see two episodes of foreplay, I better expect at least 3 episodes of fighting. It felt like knocking over dominoes. You take a long time to prep, but only get a couple seconds of enjoyments. The other thing that got me annoyed, was the amount of dialogue. I've heard a lot of speeches in my lifetime, from lectures from teachers, to my own parents scolding me. but never had I gotten so bored of a speech that I had fallen asleep. All the characters have to go through an emotional speech with Rin at important times, including during battles and that seriously bothered me. At a serious time like that, how can you just manage to stop and joke about tourist attractions? Comic relief timing was very offbeat here. I would've preferred maybe a couple encouraging words like "I believe in you." and be done with it.
Enjoyment: 7/10: other than the whole paragraph I mentioned above, it's alright.
Overall: 6/10: I was disappointed with this series even though it followed the manga. The first season, I enjoyed very much, but this? not so much. I was annoyed with the the more recent episodes (7-10) but other than that, it was enjoyable.

this is my favorite anime.
I think the only reason why some people hate it is because it's literally a SOL (Slice of Life) meaning that it's kinda pointless and has no plot other than just following natsume's (the protagonist) life. The anime just gives you peeks into an odd boy's life and his development of personality. Sometimes, it's heartwarming; sometimes, it's sad. Either way, there's no "goal." In action anime, the protagonist has to defeat an antagonist, in romance, the characters have to end up together (not always) but in slices of lives, it's basically just drifting around in an empty room. But other

than that, let's get to the real review:
Story: When I first read the title a couple months back, I honestly thought it was going to be the most boring thing I'd ever seen, but it was summer and I had nothing to do, so I gave it a shot. Basically, Natsume was born with the power to see youkai (spirits) and he was ostracized for it. The whole anime tells of his development in personality as well as human AND youkai relationships. The first episode gave off a melancholic feeling.
Art: When I first watched it, I was not impressed. I had just came here from really high graphic'd animes and I was expecting the same, but as I kept watching the series, the simple look grew on me. I can't imagine it any other way now.
Sound: I remember when I first watched it, I used to skip the OPs and EDs, but months later, they're all I listen to.
Character: All of the characters here will always have a place in my heart, 'nuff said.
Enjoyment: As I said, I'm really biased and I personally loved it a lot. I rewatch it all the time. 10/10
Overall, I'd rate it a 9, only lacking in the art and animation (at first. The fifth season art is AMAZING)
