On the surface level, Mushishi might not have any similarities with Parasyte but the basis of both of the mangas are same, which is 'unknown creatures residing in the human world with human beings'. The 'Mushi' in Mushishi and 'Parasytes' in Parasyte are creatures with a lot of similarities. Both of the protagonists(Ginko from Mushishi and Kenichi from Parasyte) are able to interact with the creatures. The true objectives of the mentioned creatures do not align, but in the end, both of them are still a different kind of creatures humans don't recognize and both of the creatures' living in the human world can still be considered a mystery. While Mushishi focuses more on the philosophical existence of the creatures called 'Mushi', Parasyte raises questions on difficult subjects as morality, humanity, the act of love, the relationship between humans and other species. You eventually can't find any major similarities between the two but still, give mushishi a try if you liked parasyte.

Blue Period

When it comes to the plotline, Blue Period strikes me as more thought provoking but I think both are similar in a certain way. In both of the mangas, The main character questions himself about what he wants to do in his life and suddenly by a chance encounter, finds himself getting interested in a certain something. Both of them start to think maybe this is what they were looking for and maybe that was their destination all along. Tatara finds himself training and improving in 'Competitive Dancing' & Yaguchi starts painting all day long as if it was his long lost dream. In both of their journey of finding their 'true self', they ended up learning so many new things and gained new experience. Looking at the manga(s) wuth this perspective, I'm sure some people will agree with me as to why these two are similar. So if you like Ballroom E Youkoso, be sure to check out Blue Period as well.
