While the stories are incredibly different I get the same kind of excitement from these anime. * Eureka Seven is full of action-packed flying mechas and battles while Bakuman's action is set in the everyday as the characters struggle and tension to become manga artists. While Eureka Seven has fast moving battles scenes it also strangely seems more talky and goes into long winded explanations every once in a while, but Bakuman keeps conversations short and to the point, making each episode move quickly. * Both have a very sweet and awkward love story which part of what drives the stories but is not the focus of the plot. Making these both great for the Not Mushy Romantic. * The humor is wonderful! Bakuman brings in lots of other manga and anime references (Fu-sion Ha!) and Eureka Seven's laughs come from the awkward love and the failings of our hero. * You will cheer on the characters following their joy, triumphs and hardships along the way. * Because of the subject matter of Eureka Seven, it is darker and more grown up their the young main characters. This may seem like an odd mix, but I've tested the recommedation on a hardcore Eureka Seven fan, and he has been converted to a Bakuman follower!

Dark Metro
add

Both dark and set up as a series of horror stories in which the main character saves those who are good from evil spirits (Dark Metro) or escorts those who commit evil are escorted to hell (Jigoku Shoujo). Dark Metro has twisted stories with really spooky and gory art work, while Jigoku Shoujo focuses on human interactions instead of evil spirits. Both very suspenseful and dark. I recommend reading by flashlight.

Gamble Fish

Same kind of ego in the main character and both are kinda tricksters and manipulators. Death Note is obviously darker and Gamble Fish has more comedic characters. I enjoyed them in the same way, love to watch the puzzle and try to figure it out before they reveal the answer to me.

All Girls school... girl love, girl love, girl love. But i guess MariaHolic kinda isn't all girl love as the main character and love interest is a cross dressing boy....

The Same bumping heads of two opposite male leads and a almost annoyingly cute girl between them (in a literal way, not so much the love triangle way).

InuYasha

A magical girl gets somehow transported to a magical world where there is action and adventure and a cute boy with a sword and wings. Great characters and a general "to busy fighting for a love story until the end" feeling.

A kind-hearted girl meets out-of-the-ordinary boy and family, and helps them. Focuses on relationships and love story more than Inuyasha, but also shorter! And with better character development. (as will all anime, the manga is better, but only slightly different, I suggest to read Fruit Baskets manga starting about ch 31 where the anime leaves off).

This isn't on here yet!! Both use the huge human-form machines to battle and fly in, Eureka Seven "surfs" or "refs". Both have a wonderful coming of age story with a sweet love story (Escaflowne leans a bit more on the love story).

It’s time to ditch the text file.
