I started reading Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia from the "you should read this manga" thread. They have some of the manga I am enjoying right now, so I figured there's no shame in trying.
The story started as a pair of high schooler revealed that neither of them able to sleep at night and felt sleepy in the day. They found someone just like them and started hanging out. They formed an astronomy club for the right to the room they use to sleep in the day and started doing some photograph.
So far, the plot is being true to themself. Heavy on the romance side with
...
club life background. However, I do feel some lack in the story overall. There are holes here and there outside the main plot left to be filled. And thus, making the pace felt a bit hasty and forced. Every chapter felt more like a skit, a light read to fill up free time but doesn't make you craft for more or be impatient for the next release.
The illustration is more on the realistic side, Chainsaw-Man style if you have read it. The panel is well placed, focusing on the main characters physical charm every now and then but not overused. You can grasp what the author wanted you to feel by looking at the panels and illustrations despite the lack of some facial expression were presented.
Overall, it's an okay read.

Haikyuu!! To the Top Part 2 (S4 Part 2) is si far the worst season of the series. The action, match part of the franchise is still as good as ever, however, they added stuffs they didn't in the previous seasons. That is the throw back, as well as Nekoma's match AND their background stories. They should've added Nekoma's backstory to the Tokyo Qualifier OVA and make both part of Season 3 instead of having only 10 episodes consisting of only Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa (which is not even their main rival).
Other part which makes the season worse than its predecessors is that there are way
...
too many "in head voice" and talking with static images. Even an "in head voice" of some irrelevant character just to explain what's going on in the match. This really took the incredible dynamic, the best part of the series.
The image quality of some part is also dropping. While it is not a vital part of the series, it took away the engagement of an episode. I need to check if both S3 and S4 is done by the same studio cause the drop is apparent.
On the otherside, other elements are as strong as ever. Music and sounds is right.

Danmachi season 4 picked of right where we left last season. In an attempt to reduce destruction inside the lvl 25-27 dungeon, the dungeon itself unleashes a calamity to kill every single adventurer in that level.
The series is just as it always has been, mediocre at best. If you enjoyed previous seasons, come watch this one, but if you are not enjoying previous seasons, don't bother to watch this one.
This review is based solely on the anime. No outside source like LN considered.
Art and Music: 7
Art and music is on the same level as season 4 part 1. The art is very consistent. Nothing remarkable
...
but is nice to see. Animation is also on the same level. Into episode 3, not many battles fought yet (if any), but so far it is not boring. The music while doesn't feel out of place, it definitely can get better.
Story and Character: 5
Overall, the plot is very straight forward. Picking where we left of, and into episode 3 nothing much changed. Not many throw back or background story and "side quest" explored yet.
Story telling from every character's perspective is also still done great. Everything is in balance. From bell's party, the hestia family, as well as the viewpoint from people outside the dungeon.
However, the way they portray their character is also as bad as previous season. Bell, while is the main character -many dubbed deus ex machina of the series- and is portrayed very strong being able to slay the fastest monster of the middle level dungeon with ease. Once again having trouble dealing with the problem this time. The direst one so far. On previous season, as Bell can instantly overcome a challenge within one episode, the series failed to make audience feel any character development. To feel any danger to the beloved main characters at all.
This as a cycle happened every episode. Where one character faced a certain challenge and being able to overcome it right on site. This makes the story of each episode felt too similar thus boring.
The story is stuck between wanting to have a strong masculine main character or a weak lovable more feminine main character. One must pick one or the other and can't have both. Or one'll end up with half-assed character in the likes of Bell Cranel.
On top of it all, I can say maybe each episode is only worth 65% content. Despite choosing to instantly resolve any "minor" challenge within a single episode, the director dare to include a previous episode summary. And a lot of self-speech. If they have the spare duration to include a summary, it would be a lot better to actually make the character development more believable.
There are even a lot of examples where directors filled the opening and ending song with actual content to make the series more intriguing. To build deeper connection with the audience.

The season overall is mediocre at best. The story and conflict building from episode one feels flat and too straight forward and too fast to be felt like a progress that built up towards the climax. TBH, it felt like with the story telling as it is, the two parts of the season could be summed up in two episodes of separate OVA (given the first part felt more like a filler). Or rather having one whole season with 12 episodes of the second part of the season with proper story, character, relationship, and tension building would be preferred.
If you've watched all the previous seasons
...
however, feel free to watch (and get disappointed) this one as well.
Production quality (art and sound): 8
The production quality is not bad, nothing stands out, but pretty nice. The picture is good, the motion is good, felt natural, and makes sense. Even when they just throw out some english non-sense doesn't feel so bad. It is consistent as well. No quality drop whatsoever. The sound is not as satisfying as the art but doesn't feel off.
Characters: 3
Every character is unique, well thought and has a role to play in the season. No character was left out. And the way the story was told were also balanced, making sure every main character has the same screen time. I'll give them that.
The bad, however, is that there were quite the inconsistency among almost all the character and the relationship between them, giving the later was not as prominent as the former. At one scene, one character is portrayed to be strong, but at the next scene (of the same episode), the character would be portrayed as weak.
If you want to make a character relatable, want the audience to sympathize, to feel the story, to be immersed, then a character has to be consistent. This is particularly troublesome because the inconsistency can be found literally in one episode. Sure, not anyone can be strong at all times, but there has to be a reason and a regress as to why the character is becoming weak. The author and director need to understand that just getting instantly stronger from a weakened state should not be the whole development. The way the character overcome their weakness should be an inseparable part of the development. I found this unbearable to watch.
Story: 1
The story telling is an absolute bore. No surprise whatsoever. The plot is straightforward, no turning back, no back story, nothing. Like straight from an elementary student's writing.
To make it even worse, every episode feels the same. Even the two parts of the season started the same way with some premonitions that something bad will happen. The story of each episode is quite literally: the party encountered danger, one character showed their power, the problem solved. Then another problem appeared which needs a character to get stronger to solve it, the character gets stronger, the problem solved. Not even once that it felt like the characters is faced with a problem that is likely to cause them harm. Deus Ex Machina done wrong.
