I gave this one 8, even though I gave the first season a 9. Actually, it is very good, and it is just the continuation of the first season, however until this 13th episode we never heard anything shallow like "I don't lose hope on humanity." What? When the topic has come to this? I am talking about what Abe no Seimei said to the Black King. There was no need for such a speech. I was watching this series as a seinen but a shounen-like scene appeared out of nowhere. Couldn't the reason for fighting and resistance just be the main instinct of all ... living beings, meanly survival? We don't need anything glittering like "hope on humankind". At least after looking at the overall air of the show, this shouldn't have appeared. I think it is a big inconsistency for the show and irritated me greatly.

Also, another great factor was that we were able to see Toyohisa for only a little bit.

It wasn't a bad one but I think the story jumped around quite a bit. The flow was not really continuous, maybe it is because it tries to fit in a bigger plot than what can be contained in a 6-chapter manga.
Anyway, I felt like this manga was amateurish. It wanted to do a lot of things but only managed to glance over them. The story could have been handled better, and if it had, it could have resembled "Hana wa Saku ka" quite a bit.


Okay, I don't have anything longer to write about this but MAL is forcing me. So here, some ramblings. ... The art was a little sketchy and messy, I think. But that is the style of the mangaka so nothing bad about it, it is just not to my liking.

When I finished the manga I though it can be taken as an example of "how to write a manga that will have 6 chapters". The flow of the story is really continuous without any jump between scene changes. You don't feel lost or think "where did this come from" when something is revealed or a piece of new information is given to the readers. The story is short, simple, and ripe. The exploration into the emotions of the MCs is not forced. Although it could use even longer explanations, so could be a longer manga, thus we could have stayed with them longer through ... all these feelings.
Especially when the dreadful incident revealed I was really shocked and stunned. The timing and pace of the revelation didn't make the story lose anything, and its impact was utmost. This is thanks to the mastery of the mangaka I believe.
The manga has a soothing air, and the art matches this effect as well.
The sex scene is not overboard and it is shown so far as it is needed for the story.
And for a side note, which is a pretty important deciding point for me actually, it puts great importance on consent which I wish much more manga would adopt such an attitude.
