In my second year of high school, a friend of mine started talking to me about anime and K-pop. I didn't very well take on K-pop but directly dived into the anime world. The rest came by itself.
At first, I watched animes and read mangas in my mother tongue but -as I am someone who, when found something good, doesn't know when to stop- soon Turkish scanlations weren't enough for me. Then I learned English trying to be able to watch and read more. So, I guess I will end up learning Japanese very soon.
My first anime, I believe, was Vampire Knight - I wasn't recording my watchlist or using MAL at the time-. I watched it with my sisters and felt that I wanted to watch more. After that, I was unstoppable while my sisters mostly don't watch anime anymore.
I watch a lot of movies and series and love to read books. I am seriously interested in storytelling in all mediums. Thus, I started to dissect what I watch and read. At first, I was just a latent watcher and reader, as it felt like all the things that can be said for a work is already said on this site, and of course, I was quite shy and introvert. But as years pile up, I started to be really picky about what I watch and read. So I thought it was time to put them into words. But I am still at the beginning.
I am an avid watcher even though the number of anime I watched isn't that great compared to the episode count I watched, because I mostly rewatch my favorite animes again and again, not only that, my favorite list actually consists of the animes I rewatched most.
On a side note, I love learning different languages. I am also academically focused on translating. English is my second language, and I am currently learning Russian and Japanese.-Also in high school I tried to learn Arabic (for four years at that), but I am not sure if I can count it as I mostly forgot what I learned at those times-
