Rather than being a pretentious ashole I will just shortly write why I liked this anime. Read the synopsis if you want to know what it is about. Basically we have an overpowered demon king reincarnated as an MC. He is not recognized as the demon king tho because everyone thinks real demon king was someone else. Onto the details from here.
First elephant in the room. MC is overpowered right from the start so there is no tension in any of the fights. To my surprise some people actually like watching the cliche "this is not even my final form" bs shounens of the
...
past decades where MCs struggle like crazy and eventually make it out of the bullshit fights in a bullshit, inconsistent and inconclusive way for no reason. I think the famous "effort, friendship etc." motto of the shonen jump really do resonate with younger folk. I am old now, I cannot take those kinds of battles and stupid logistics behind the battles seriously anymore. Unless the battle writing is as good as JoJo, I would rather authors just skip to the conclusion of the battles. I actually do skip the fights when watching or reading anyway it would be great if they did not waste time on those because 13 episode serious are over in 2 hours for me right now. So I actually prefer the OP MC trope to the usual soulless dumb MCs. I am looking forward to what kind of OP shit they are gonna perform next and I am looking forward to the reactions everyone around them will have.
Second, another elephant is the lack of useless MCs with no personality trope. Or stupidly selfless MCs. I cannot say Anos is an amazing character but I can say that he is neither useless nor empty. There is some consistency to his writing. His interactions with the rest of the cast is actually great. His relationship with his parents is fun to watch. His relationship with Misha is sweet and interesting. His actions from his past life, his ideas as a demon king are interesting. There is a serviceable plot here. His approach towards others are neither too indifferent nor too overtly kind.
Another thing is the romance in this anime. It is not much but rather than totally ignoring those aspects I think there is right amounts of sweet moments here. Focusing on the kuudere Misha instead of the tsundere Sasha helps a lot in that regard. There is no stupid drama in his relatively small harem of two girls either. Girls are not competing for his affection and MC acts with some kind of kindness towards everyone. Side characters are also not left behind which is something I like a lot.
Animation quality is decent, soundtracks are bad, art direction is neither good nor bad. Standard mediocre stuff actually but mediocre is actually enough for these shows.
Overall, I enjoyed this one.

This review will focus on the controversy surrounding this anime. Other than the controversy, it is a great isekai with good plot and good production.
Anyone who is talking about morality of this show is not a person worth listening to because before judging the characters you should make an attempt to understand the context. With that said, I am not here to give context in order to excuse pedophilia because the context itself in this show is a little bit inconsistent. I am not defending pedophilia I am asking if it is even present in the show because of how inconsistent the main character is.
...
Let me explain what I mean.
Main character is a sick fuck repulsive trash isekaied from modern world to generic isekai world. The very first scene is him opening his eyes as a baby and seeing his "well endowed" mother. He makes this sleazy comment about his own mother as a newborn infant. Then follows up with this:
"I do not lust after this clearly attractive women because she is my mother"
We are at the beginning of the show author already lost control of the character. Is he the trash MC from his previous life or this newborn baby with some life experience. When this baby gets older and falls for a 10 years old girl, what do we make of this? He himself is 10 years old, just like what happened with his mother whom he is not lusting after, isn't only natural that a 10 years old buy is interested in a 10 years old girl?
This confusion is always present in the show. MC generally acts like a grown up in a child's body but sometimes he doesn't. All anime in general has a problem with people acting their age so it is not a surprise it happens in this show too but at least author could keep it consistent.
On top of that I do not understand the reasoning behind making the MC this deplorable person. His character does not add anything worthwhile to the story. We all watched slime isekai, that character only brings up his past life when he is reminding us about his experience in management and construction.

I'll be brief.
This show can be labeled as "episodic" even tho it really is not. Main premise is that our protagonist Violet is an emotionless child soldier who knew nothing but war and military her whole life. This is a cliché we've seen this countless times. War has ended and she is now a civilian trying to learn human emotions.
She does that by being a scribe, she writes letters for other people. I really really liked this center plot device because it makes sense. Going around the continent meeting with people who has to bring out their emotions and pour them into a
...
piece of paper as written words, she slowly but surely gets to experience a lot of emotions. THAT'S WHERE THIS SHOW SHINES. I liked all the sub-stories. They are really emotional and I teared up or felt really happy in all of them. Seriously incredible stuff. They too are cliché maybe but they are presented well. Speaking of presentation let's talk technical stuff.
THIS IS THE SECOND POINT WHERE THIS SHOW SHINES AGAIN. Animation quality is great. There is not that much action but the little amount there is really well animated. ART is one of the best ever. We knew that KyoAni were gods in sleek, beautiful art and this is one of the best works from the best animation studio out there. Voice acting is great so is the soundtracks and overall music. Camera angles and overall cinematography is quite good.
Now let's get to the bad part: Violet is not a good character. Her story is badly written. She is supposed to grow emotionally but it is extremely inconsistent. She is supposed to be bad with human emotions but from time to time she isn't. She is trying to understand what "love" is for example but she clearly already knows it. Her actions fall perfectly within character when she is advancing other people's sub-stories but not her own story. Then towards the final episodes the show gets some action scenes which are completely unnecessary and frankly trash.
TLDR; Great as an episodic show with a lot of emotional substrories but man character Violet's character development and later episodes which focuses on her brings this show down. It would be a 9/10 with more quality sub-stories and better character development for MC.

Rather than going through the details and assessing all the different points with art, story etc. I will just start with WHY I AM GLAD I WATCHED THIS:
1. This is anime has a serious working romance subplot and it has more than one. I was quite shocked to see that. Normally, romance subplots are just pushed to the side and used as a seasoning. Some shows go as far as to just use the romance as a bait. It is fucking retarded and I am glad I watched this show to experience some good fucking romance. It reminded me of why I liked SAO's first
...
half of the first season. Even with the dumb cringe I still liked the fact that a shonen anime had a working couple. This time in GranCres, we do not even have the stupid harem too.
2. This anime has a generic MC dude but the guy is not that annoying this time. Again, I was quite shocked to see that too. Our heroine who is also an MC in this show; she is a really active character and pushes MC towards action. Rather than being too passive or spouting stupid idealistic bullshit all the time, our MC just acts on his beloved heroine's suggestions. He even does things despite our dominant heroine's wishes because sometimes a man has to do some things even if it is a shonen anime.
3. This anime has a lot of really likeable characters. I like myself some side characters with personality and power. I like that our MCs (the boy and the girl) are not somehow the most powerful or the most important. This rule is broken in the second half but overall the tone of the anime was set accordingly to prevent it becoming an issue in the second half.
Now onto something I just cannot ignore anymore.
This anime has a serious pacing issue. With the amount of content if the anime took the Bleach route they could easily go up to 72 episodes maybe more. I am glad they did not but I am also conflicted. Some parts are extremely rushed and this will bother some people, all the reviews besides a handful already shows that. I generally watch anime by skipping the trash filler in between the scenes. So this did not bother me that much however as I said, some arcs really went too fast and felt inorganic to the viewers. One does not start a rebellion in 5 minutes in any show with politics, it is especially bad when you do that twice in the same show.
SO all in all, this show became one of my favorites for doing something different. If an anime has at least something I really want to see then I will give it an 9+.

I will adress the parts about production quality after the main topic of this review which is the story.
Story:
This is a rare show where the quality of the story drops when you get to the actual story arc.
First part of the show introduces the main characters of the show. We get some little action with fair amount of character and relationship development. It is presented well and thanks to MC being a rather likeable character this first half is pretty great. It is not a mystery and rather a small adventure in this half.
Now on the second half and we get some new
...
characters doubling the cast count in 3 minutes. Why, because the show transitions into a mystery here.
As you can see, the show has the mystery tag, indeed the second half of the show revolves around a mystery. And it is nothing complicated, a classic locked room mystery. However this is also a fantasy show. And mystery really does not work with fantasy because rules are so loosely defined in fantasy setting that viewers just cannot create their own theories or analyze the presented evidence/hypothesis characters in the show talk about. On top of that there are some really far fetched and inconsistent character moments that just doesn't really go with the established characteristics and personalities. The show artificially and rather obnoxiously forces players to create some theories but this time you go into thinking it is either too stupid that no one actually caught on to what you did OR you think this is definitely not the answer because of the way it is stupidly presented.
So the second half of the show really becomes a drag. Thankfully tho, this is a rather short story.
Characters:
Characters are not that great all across the board but important ones are interesting enough so the show is enjoyable in the first half with 3 main characters almost exclusively present. Plus there is a cool thing about the characters which is a spoiler territory so I will put this in the end of the review with enjoyment segment.
Sound/Art/Animation:
Sounds are decent, music and soundtracks are not good. Art and animations are definitely good enough. I didn't dislike what I saw one bit.
Enjoyment: I enjoyed the show overall. Despite the bad writing with the second half it had it's moments. SPOLERS AHEAD!!!
SPOILERS BELOW!
MC is not a standard retarded shonen MC so you cheer for him a little. Also unlike standard shonens this show some romance in it too. The show introduces a new girl in the last minutes of ep2 when you already have one since the start. On top of that first one is the standard main heroine while the second girl is the kuudere type so veteran anime watchers like myself can already see where this bullshit is going. Because many people love some kuuderes and hate it when they are under appreciated. I like that this show deviates from that especially towards the end. I think that sub-plot character/relationship development we saw from Adlet and Flamie was well worth it after all. Sometimes having these niche features can be the saving grace for mediocre shows especially thanks to harem shows creating all kinds of unfullfilled dreams with best girl types.

Poor writing. Poor animation. Poor script. Bad cast. This is really really mediocre.
Meta humor is fun when it is used carefully and infrequently. You cannot base an anime around 2-3 main plot points and call it a day. Working!! is a poor example of what happens when everything a show offers can be seen in the first 2 episodes. This is a common problem in a lot of anime so audience for these shows are somewhat used to it me included however for some reason I could not overlook this show. One of the girls has an androphobia which causes her to attack every male
...
she comes close to. Nothing original there however passable. Anyway, so she interacts with our main guy and slowly gets used to him punching him countless times along the way. For the first 10 times I watched the 10 second clip of Inami punching Souta however the next 90 times was too much. And I am writing this review as I stopped the 3 episode of the second fcking season. That shit still happens frequently. There are 2 more similar story points in this anime where there is a completely dull character with a one fucking single gimmick
repeating that shit over and over again. It gets boring fast and annoying even faster. Think about the times where you got sick of tsundere character using her weapon, magic, punch etc. on any bland MC in any of the standard harem trash over and over again. Same thing here.
Ensemble casts are pretty much standard if you are making an episodic comedy. However characters need to be interesting for it to work. Gintama has tons of interesting characters and constantly switch them around on episodic basis. Community has 7 characters and every one of them is interesting. Working!! literally has 8 or so characters and every single one of them is in every episode. Out of those 8 combine all of them and you get 2 or maybe 3 fully realized characters max because they are extremely one dimensional. Most of them has a single gimmick. Aside from Yamada, every other character is extremely predictable. And Yamada is unpredictable because she does not make any sense from the start. Her randomness leaves me a bit conflicted because she is not a complex character but rather a character with randomness as her gimmick.
Overall, it is boring as hell and looks like it will get even worse from here.

THIS REVIEW WILL BE SHORT!
I gave this show a 6/10 but it is not "Fair" it is the definition of mediocre. However mediocre on MAL is not 5 but 6 so I gave it a 6. Now Why is it mediocre? Pretty simple:
KIMETSU NO YAIBA is not an organic show. It feels like a committee job. Like, think about 5 average people who read biggest shonen hits of the 2000s and decided to copy paste parts of it. It feels so fucking unnatural. Story beats are unnatural, dialogue is unnatural, fights (all the powers/techniques/enemy designs etc.) feels unnatural, humor feels unnatural. What do
...
I mean? It feels like the product of a brainstorming session, it feels like the product of a machine learning algorithm. It is like they decided that the MC should meet the villain early because that is a trope, have a companion who is a whiny bitch all the time because that is a trope, MC needs to save a girl by smiling at her because that is a trope. Even the character designs are all products of tropes. Humor placement seems like an AI program decided to put humor bits in the story because it does not look like a sane person did. It feels like those "fellow kids" memes you see from corporate twitters. It is like "Pokemon Go To The Polls"

THIS MOVIE IS A FANSERVICE FOR THE FANS, do not go into this with the expectation of a standalone movie. This movie was made so that people who are of the mind "just more Lelouch, anything is fine" can be satisfied. And quite frankly, for all of it's shortcomings I can safely say that this movie is great for the fans. I gave fair and objective scores for the review (story-3, art-8, sound-7, character-7) but gave 10 to enjoyment and overall scores because that's how it was for me, a die hard fan of the series.
Story is poorly written, frankly aside from amazing twists even
...
the original series are not that good story-wise because the rules and explanations regarding the World of C and God are so fucking stupid that you just gotta bear with it. This movie is especially bad in that regard because the pacing is way off, character interactions are too limited because of the runtime being too short and story itself is confusing as hell.
Art is great, setting is exotic and character design lends itself well with exotic clothes this time around. CGI is definitely a huge improvement over the original series too.
This movie continues the tradition with lots of generic and bland soundtracks with very small number of hidden gems inside it. The soundtrack Funimation used for English Dub trailer, titled "Prepared to be Shot", is nothing short of a masterpiece. Similarly even the original TV show was not that good anyway. A few select OSTs were carrying the sound department. Hence 7.
I was going to give 5 for character because although the characters are great I did not really like the interactions that much. Again, this is mostly because of the time limit but I still would like to see some reunions being extremely dramatic. Still tho, we got CC and Lelouch here so it goes up to 7 in that aspect.
I gave 10 to enjoyment because as the original show proved, the most important part of a story is the ending and I think this show nailed 2 endings perfectly. They arguably managed to not ruin one of the best endings in fictional world (alongside Dark Knight and Infinity War) that is the original ending to Code Geass. And they managed to give me the only other ending that is good enough for this story to continue. Plus, I got my ship so all is good there, if SHAFT gives me the Shinobu ending then I can die a happy man.

This is a classic ecchi show with 1 male protagonist getting into a club with 3 girls. They all share an otaku hobby. That's about enough info for anyone with enough anime knowledge to accurately guess 90% of this shows content. It is not an incredible story by any means, characters are not the best there is and their interactions are almost exclusively unoriginal and typical. Character design is mostly ok (main heroine is great) and colors are vibrant all around. Sounds are not bad at all. Story is standard, script is standard. So this show is already a solid 5-6 mediocre so far. The
...
tricky part is where this show gets that extra 1-2 points from me.
This show is NOT A HAREM. Anyone who labels NetoYome as a harem is simply not even qualified to hold an opinion let alone share them in public. Trust me, I have watched harem. I have watched Infinite Stratos ffs. A harem is when multiple girls do stupid things to get the protagonist. They generally get into risky situations, some chicken out in criticial moments or things go to shit because of some random event or misunderstanding. MC in harems is always this incredibly dense retard who gets called "kind" by the girls and somehow that's enough for multiple girls to fall in love and be stupid for him. NetoYome is not like that at all. And that's where it gets the extra points.
There are no multiple retarded girls in NetoYome. Girls are all decent characters with non-romance problems. There is no love triangle or something. MC is not a dense retard either. He is a decent character. There is a really clear and really sweet love story between the MC and everyone tries to help the heroine with her challenges as part of the plot. It is not the best but the relationship between MC-heroine produce some sweet moments and that's enough for me.
NetoYome deserves a fair treatment and should not be labeled "another harem". Anime fans are really quick to bash anime industry for producing this half-length 12-13 episode ecchi harems season after season and rightfully so too. However, the general air around NetoYome that does it injustice proves that anime fans are not as good a judge as they think they are when it comes to criticism and taste.

This review is not about technical analysis of the show. I will just say why I think it is an amazing anime.
The strongest point of HxH: FRIENDSHIP - 2 MCs GON & KILLUA
Despite being the most basic/core theme of Shounen genre, most shounens fail miserably in this so called "friendship" theme especially the ones involving female characters. They introduce heroine after heroine and put them all into friendzone. What is worse is the ones with "bleach syndrome" where there is all kinds of romantic feelings with zero romance at all. It is there, everyone can see it, but romantic feelings are non-existent. It feels so
...
damn forced when someone says "friendship" those anime.
HxH on the other hand has one of the BEST FRIENDS I see in anime. They also happen to be the best duo imho. Many will say Gon is the MC of this story but imo, Killua is also an MC. In fact Killua is more of an MC than Alphonse Elric is. When you see those two kids together you will see how natural their friendship feels compared to others so called shounen friendships. Both characters are so different yet so similar. So distant yet so close. Also the biggest factor is they are equals. One of them does not protect the other, it goes both ways. One does not make sacrifices it goes both ways. The way they fight is cool. Their styles and strengths are completely different and complement each other. They know and understand each other. It is a pleasure to watch those two.
I will not make any point other than that one as many others already talk about it. I just wanted to bring out that aspect of the show to attention.
