This anime is based of the game: Tales of Phantasia for the GBA (and PSP).
As you can see it only has 4 OVA and that's where my dissapointment is mainly based on.
The game has about 40 hours of gameplay and because I played it already I could at least understand the story, but good chances are that someone who didn't play the game will be confused quickly. The animation skips ALOT of things and it just makes you wish you were playing the game rather then wacthing this anime.
Now you see where I'm going with this. The animation was (probably) made to promote the game

It's funny that peoples opinion about this anime are very different. Some hate it while others totally love.
So let me try and explain why: - Some times the story progressed slowly - The same remarks are repeated throughout the serie - two words: 'Boy love' I think boy love is the mayor reason why some people don't like it, but if you can look past that and have some patient it think you can really enjoy this anime, that is of course if you like the genre. Overall i think it's a good anime (I atleast enjoyed it) and i can say it is at least worth a try.

Just finished watching this anime and all i can say is: 'I want more!'
It's great. Although the main idea is kinda weird, the story is played well. It's really touching and sometimes I had trouble keeping myself from crying. The music fits well with well the situations, and Ii find the people doing the voice-overs doing an excellent job. I find the artworks being kinda weird and it reminds me of 'Kimi no Todoke'. Still this is a good example of a story that is so good I don't even mind the artwork one bit. Overall, this anime is great and if your looking, for an relationship genre anime this ... |
