Synopsis

Born from a cocoon in the village of Old Home, a young Haibane—a being with a halo and small gray wings—awakens to a world she does not understand without memories of her past. Named Rakka for the dream of falling she had while inside the cocoon, she soon becomes accustomed to life in the strange town. However, there are strict rules for the Haibane, such as being forbidden to leave the village or go near the walls surrounding it. These, along with mysterious disappearances of their kind on their "Day of Flight," begin to unsettle Rakka and the others since they know almost nothing about their own kind.

As Rakka and the other Haibane live their lives with no memories of the past, they try to break free from their former pain and ultimately find salvation.

If I were to describe Haibane Renmei in 2 words, it would be Sensitive, and Beautiful. I say Sensitive, because that's what I was watching this. great writing, with a lot of "in your face" foreshadowing, which I do think fits naturally in a story like this. One of my few critiques with this show is characters like Hikari and Kana getting their own episodes then not getting much screen time past that. But other than that, everybody feels like a real person.

The animation was a little rough at the beginning, but, I only noticed this in certain scenes, which sorta broke my emersion. But, ...

Mixed Feelings
“Haibane Renmei” is what happens when a solid idea is held down by heavy handed writing.

First things first. I know this show has a lot of symbolism and uses it with varying success. I don't intend to showcase or explain them. There are a lot of people who already did that and far better than I could ever have. Even more that clearly have no idea what they are talking about and only want to feel special. What I will concentrate on is the writing. The story, the plot, and the holes. I believe that even when using symbolism the writer should integrate it ...

The absurd school of literature was a mistake. it gave any Idiot with a pencil the ability to vomit random problems and philosophical themes into a frame of art, with some symbolism, and label it a work of art, I blame France specifically.

Old examples of this "wannabe" form of literature ranges from "The Stranger" to "Waiting for Godot". They all have one thing in common, and that is the loss of meaning, but flashing the evidence of it's existence(the meaning)all around the work, through symbolism and dialogues with open-ended meanings.

But nonetheless, first-world teenagers and their likes will continue to praise these types of ...

Top 20 Series With The Most Beautiful Anime Art

It is easy to say that the most beautiful anime are those produced by Studio Ghibli. For sure, Ghibli’s films set the bar for what is anime art. However, although five of their films populate this list of the 20 most beautiful anime, other examples from the past four decades are just as impressive.
